Just stayed 4 nights at the Gold hotel wine dine. Staff very friendly. The only down side is, It is situated on a busy road up a hill. A 15 minute walk into town down hill which was fine, but not so much fun walking back up. Used the big bus tour which was very good in seeing the city....

It is a historical-looking villa with small garden, located next to a busy road and approx. 10-minutes walk from Buda Castle and Citadela. If you do not mind a little walking, you can even get to Pest without public transportation (30 minutes of walking). It has a hotel restaurant which is overpriced and not very good. We ate there only...

We checked in and on the reception we were surprised that there will be an additional fee (5 % of the amount) if we pay with a credit card, unless you pay cash. I asked the receptionist why this is not written anywhere and they explained me that "I was told by them so this is now official"?!?! The parking...

Gold Hotel Wine & Dine is a centrally located hotel in Budapest. We could easily reach any point of the city by bus. We had a nice, comfortable room with private bathroom in the hotel. Rate includes buffet breakfast with hot dishes. We could find Hungarian specialties too. Restaurant was open for lunch and dinner. Here we could taste some...

We spent 4 wonderful days in this beautiful hotel. The double room has a nice decoration with comfortable bed. Bathroom is clean and has a big shower . Breakfast is buffet type all-you-can-eat. Restaurant serves delicious foods for lunch and dinner. Highly recommended hotel!

What a little gem of a hotel. The receptionist, Julia, was really helpful with tips from the best bus trip to take to a useful short cut to the Castle elevators. The room was clean, large and airy with efficient air conditioning and a mini bar. A kettle in the room would have been nice but it didn't affect our...

We chose this hotel due to the price and distance from the city centre. It was about 15-20 mins walk downhill to central Budapest. This was no problem at all but the walk back uphill after a long day of walking was a struggle! There is a bus stop 2 mins away from the hotel though. There's also a shop...

This was my first stay in Budapest, I arrived very late at night, greeted by friendly staff. Room was comfortable and clean. It was slightly out of town but bus stop was just along the road, but enjoyed the walk anyway, as weather was hot and sunny. At breakfast there was a good choice and plentiful. I am hoping to...

The hotel is slightly out of town, and doesn't seem to be well served by public transport, so you either walk everywhere or get a taxi. Rooms were clean, and an OK size. Lots of signs up everywhere telling you not to touch things, or that you will be charged if you don't wash up, so doesn't feel very welcoming.

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
