Fantastic location near St Matthias Chapel and the panoramic views over the city. Once you have carried your bags up the stairs, all is good. Bus is easy to catch to the town and walking is always a possibility. Very friendly staff. Loved our introduction to Budapest.

Located on top of the hill this hotel is the perfect choice for exploring Budapest sights. We arrived by car and had no problem parking there. You'll have to cross the security barriers (just say the name of the hotel if you encounter issues). Parking is free for hotel guests. The rooms are a bit outdated, but clean with confortable...

We enjoyed four nights at this lovely boutique hotel in the Castle District high above the river in Budapest. It was easy to reach by the #16 bus and provided a clean, quiet room right across the street from the St. Mathias Church. It was very quiet in the evening despite the many tourists coming for the incredible views. The...

The hotel is right on Trinity Square, in front of Mathia's Temple, and Fisherman's Bastion. I loved to open the curtains in the very early morning and watch the sunrise, and the square come to life Just great. The hotel itself is not fancy but my room, besides the great view, was spacious, and clean, and so was the bathroom....

I staying here last week for 5 nights with my 26 year old daughter. The hotel is in a great location looking out over St Matthias church with views over the river to Pest. The Buda area itself is full of tourists in the morning but quiet at night. Restaurants close quite early. The number 16 bus takes you down...

Warm welcome, great room looking out over the square towards the Matyas Church in Buda, Plenty of restaurants nearby and great views over the River. Transport to the centre of Pest not easy, but outweighed by the attractive location.

Located within the castle district which I believe is a UNESCO World Heritage site, this is a lovely little hotel opposite the Matthias Cathedral. I had a very comfortable stay, the staff speak fluent English, are courteous and helpful. I would recommend this place for a quiet stay without hesitation. My only moan is that my mini bar fridge was...

This hotel is right in front of the Mattius Church and Fisherman's Bastion and near the Buda castle. I would definitely recommend this hotel since it is in the heart of the Buda side. It is also very easy to get to the Pest side with either the funicular, taxi, or public transportation. The view form the room is amazing...

Excellent location. Friendly and helpful receptionists. Good room, good breakfast. If we ever return to Budapest, we'll check the Burghotel first. Being Christian, we enjoyed the cathedral's bells in the morning.

Position, position, position... The Burg hotel is the prime spot for visiting the castle area of Buda, right next to the Mathias church where all the tourists get dropped off by the coach load every day. By staying in the hotel you are there in the evening and morning while it is quieter. The hotel is clean and adequate. It...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
