When I say the Hotel Schlössle felt like home away from home, I mean it. And when you can have that “home away from home” feeling in a 5-star hotel—where luxury just feels like a cozy fireplace and a wonderful meal, instead of fussy refinery inaccessible to us regular folks? I think you’ll understand why it was my favorite hotel stay of my entire life, no exaggeration whatsoever.
I think there is something to the fact that the staff has the creative freedom to make special touches for guests that cycles back to employee happiness in their job (they aren’t just expected to check boxes and act as automatons) that makes you really feel like the enjoy being there for you! They truly don’t seem to mind the acts of service that make up the 5-star hotel experience. From the pillow menu (yes, a PILLOW MENU), to the arctic hot tub experience, where you can order drinks at the spa, to the teddy bear turn-down service they offer to children…I got the distinct impression that their freedom to make the experience customized for each guest allowed them to lean into the parts of their job that made it enjoyable and fun, which put me so at ease as a guest!
The rooms were impeccably maintained and the warm, cozy fireplaces I all the main areas, combined with candlelight made the 13th century bones of this building (yes, you read that right!) feel warm and inviting, like a place that had never lost its hospitality for a moment, even after 800 years. All of this, right in the heart of Old town Tallinn, with impeccably clean rooms and by far my favorite hotel breakfast—ever, hands down—and you will want to RUN and book this affordably priced hotel as fast as you can.

We had many choices of hotels in Tallinn and were very happy with selecting the Schossle. It lives up to the Leading Hotels of the World standards and we were very comfortable. We selected the lowest rate room and if I did this over again, I might go for a higher grade only because the category we chose lacked any tea/coffee making equipment. But the quiet charm and luxurious bedding were all plusses which led me to giving this highest marks. One note, there is no elevator but the staff placed our bags in our room once it was ready. The breakfast is excellent. There are a couple items on the menu which come with a surcharge but they were well worth it. Otherwise, the selection of items which have no surcharge were excellent, as well. I would have no hesitation to stay here again.

Hotel Schlossle was the best of the eight hotels we stayed on a one-month vacation. This is a small boutique hotel that welcomed us with a fresh glass of our beverage of choice while we checked in, made us feel right at home, and has excellent facilities and services: from the pillows, towels, and bedside water to the spa and sauna. Not even the luxury hotel we stayed at in Helsinki had a night turn-over service, which was traditional in the past but has been cut off because of the cheap economy we are living on. If you want to feel pampered and treated as royalty, come to the Schlossle (and by the way, Queen Elizabeth, and the new king of England Charles, have stayed here along with Duran Duran, and other famous people). Apart from that, the restaurant is top of the line and the location is perfect to visit the Old Town. I will not want to stay anywhere else whenever I come back.

This small, quiet hotel is ideally situated in the heart of the old town. Staff, are very helpful, keen to engage and interested in their guests. Breakfast in the cellar is excellent and weather permitting, the courtyard garden is a wonderful place to relax after a day's sightseeing. One evening, we ate dinner at the hotel and I can honestly say that the venison is the best we have ever tasted. The only cautionary note I would sound is that if you are not comfortable with steep spiral stone steps, avoid the first floor rooms in the garden view annexe.

Lovely boutique hotel with character and great service but at a price. One is meant to be in awe at all the famous guests but most stayed on business trips. A beautiful building with great staff but not worth €256 a night. The money is not the issue as I would have been happy to pay more . It was certainly an oasis in a very cold Tallinn at minus 20C. The room was lovely with all I needed so that was fine. But when we asked for some tea and a drink at 11.40 in reception by the fire , we were told that the 24/7 room service had ended. We ate in the restaurant on our last night. The first course of eel was amazing but my steak was over cooked after asking for rare. Wine was fine but the issue was service. He may not have realised it but the restaurant manager was condescending and failed to make us feel comfortable with a superior dismissive attitude . He even made it difficult splitting the €300 bill so I could pay half in cash.
Essentially a very special boutique hotel which merits its high rating but only if it exhibits more humility and does not rely on past glories when it was the chosen venue for the powerful and the famous.
It is us normal clientele who keeps it open and no longer Prince Charles of Mick Jagger!
A beautiful place to stay as long as it realises it has to keep earning its stars.

It’s a wonderful hotel, great big fire as you walk in and attentive staff. We were made to feel very welcome.
Breakfast was nice. They did show prices for some of the items, which I would expect to be included. We didn’t mind though.
Two main reasons for the mark down:
1) whilst our room was lovely, we could hear the noises from other rooms and the main door out to the courtyard (room 9 - Garden view). I’m not sure we would have bothered paying extra for the room if we had known its location. Spoke to the staff but as the hotel was full there wasn’t anything they could do. It would be nice if these rooms could have a coffee machine not just a kettle.
2) upon check out we were asked about the mini bar and something in the bathroom (face mask?). We didn’t use any of those items nor remember seeing anything in the bathroom. When we went for a walk the hotel rang to ask if we used the facemask (?) as they’ve been in the room and it’s not there. We have no idea about this item nor did we see it. It’s not a common thing to have in the bathroom I guess. Again we told them we didn’t see it or use it. They said it was fine. Obviously if they think we used it, it’s fair to call us but they did ask at checkout already and we said no.
We would return. Location is great!

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback following your recent stay at Schlossle Hotel. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our warm welcome, attentive service, and the cozy ambiance of our lobby fire. It’s wonderful to know you appreciated our central location as well. We’re sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies for the noise you experienced in your room. While we’re glad you found it lovely, we regret that its proximity to the courtyard caused disturbances. Your suggestion regarding adding a coffee machine in these rooms is noted, and we’ll discuss this with our team as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance guest comfort. Regarding the mini bar and face mask inquiry, we apologize if our follow-up felt intrusive. While we strive to maintain accurate records, we deeply regret any inconvenience this caused. Please rest assured that your comments will be used to improve our processes and communication moving forward. We truly appreciate your understanding and are pleased to know you’d consider returning. This 5-star hotel is supposed to charm the guests by imitating the atmosphere of a medieval abode. It is located at the very center of the old town, and it is situated in a very old building. The breakfast they serve is excellent. Unfortunately, there are also significant negatives, that more than overweight the positives. The rooms are very small, uncomfortable, and (perhaps because of the heavy old curtains) do not look particularly clean. There are stairs to climb and steps to mind everywhere, they absolutely should warn older people and persons with disabilities against booking. My room was downstairs, and every movement in the room above mine was creating loud noise. Noise was also coming from opening and closing the entrance door to my wing of the hotel. In short, very uncomfortable if one wants to spend more than an hour indoors. It is also one of the most expensive hotels in Tallinn, which is clearly excessive.

Lovely cosy boutique hotel in centre of Tallinn. Great location - you can walk everywhere of interest, right in the centre of the old town. Beautiful old building, the lounge with real fire is cosy and welcoming. Breakfast fantastic, in cellars of the building, with cold ‘buffet’ options and then also you can order a la carte such as full English / Estonian, eggs, pancakes etc. Staff wonderful, friendly & helpful. Sauna possible to book (privately) , just ask reception. There are robes, towels and water/tea available down there for after sauna. We had a ‘superior double’ room which does not have tea & coffee making facilities, though I believe other room types do, in case that’s important to people. Cool to see how many famous people have stayed there over the years, they have a ‘wall of fame’ next to reception. Turn down service at night with lovely chocolate. We had a fabulous ‘welcome drink’ and plate of goodies in the room on arrival but that might be because we book direct and members of the (free) loyalty programme ‘Leader’s club’ - worth joining for that !

We, a family of 5, stayed at the hotel 2 nights. Had 2 rooms, one of them with extra bed. Everything was clean, staff was very friendly and breakfast was really nice. How kids were taken into account was great. Our little daughter was so happy about own bathrobe and slippers in her size as well as about the teddy waiting at her bed for the night.
