Immediately opposite the university’s historic main building. Ambience and décor are a great match for its location. Our bathroom was especially unique with original marble floors in excellent condition and a great view of the floodlight historic building across the street. Supposedly hosts Tartu’s best restaurant but the frilly décor and basement location was not to our taste so we...

Our first impression was not great: the front desk was, well, a desk manned by a single bored looking student. The room was clean and spacious but *very* plain. But the place had a certain authentic charm; the breakfast room was gorgeous, and the other public spaces were equally elegant. Breakfast was excellent, even had champagne. And you can't beat...

Excellent location, everything at short walking distance (do not miss the botanical gardens! I am not a "garden person" but really enjoyed a walk there). Very polite and friendly personal (somewhat shy to start with), everything worked perfectly in the room, really good breakfast, good housewine. Can warmly recommend and will go again next year.

I agree with most of the positive and praising comments about this hotel, handily located in the middle of Old Tarnu right by the University and within easy walking distance of the main square and all its attendant sights and restaurants. Very welcoming staff, huge room and walk-in wardroom with bathroom to swim in. Only slight disappointments were no tea-making...

Everything was perfect! Cosy atmosphere, great deluxe room (and bathroom!), very good comfort, rich breakfast, perfect service. The location couldn't be better. Tartu is a small city with all highlights in walking distance, thus I've stayed for one night only.

I agree with all the overly positive comments about this hotel. Not that it is hyper luxurious or anything. It is classy, cozy, yet warm and welcoming. Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, breakfast is delicious -- just plain great. Location is in the city centre, yet it feels quiet and secluded. Onlu thing to improve - make stronger coffee :)))

The Antonius Hotel is breathtaking. My room had open wood beams that definitely had a sense of gravitas and made me "feel" like I was in a 16th century building. Despite being in such an old building, all the modern amenities were available. The service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was great - definitely have the poached egg and salmon.

Our deluxe twin room was huge with an over-sized bathroom. Excellent beds and blackout shades. Convenient location to university and city center. Lovely breakfast in the basement restaurant with several cooked-to-order options. Street parking for a 24-hour fee.

Unfortunately we only stayed for 1 night / 1 day. Hardly enough to appreciate the comfort of this very nice hotel / definitely not enough to appriciate the beauty and the sights of Tartu. Very helpflu staff, nicely appointed room, wonderful restaurant with excellent food.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Antonius is a charming and luxurious boutique hotel in the centre of Tartu, directly opposite the university. This brand new hotel offers 16 romantic suites and rooms on 4 floors. The decoration and design of each room was carefully chosen and thought out, combining special colour and wallpaper patterns, wall paintings, fireplaces, stoves, and antique furniture. Some rooms have amazing views of nearby Tartu University, while others face the old town’s red roofs. The Antonius Hotel is located in a building with a long and dignified history, being first mentioned in the historical records of the 16th century. During the subsequent centuries the building was home to a hat shop, the Livonian Noblemen’s Manor House Credit Association, and the famous Guild of Saint Antonius. ... more   less
