Great location, small clean rooms, super stiff beds and large bathrooms. Staff came across as tired, but nevertheless still helpful. Breakfast variety is good with many different choices. Light sleepers be warned, bring earplugs! Noise from the street below is guaranteed to keep you awake. Will probably try Radison next time.

Good = location, breakfast quality (and excellent replenishment), bed and linen, spacious bathroom, room decor. Cheerful staff. Generally quiet but.... Not so good = being kept awake half the night with the noises made by a drunkard next door - tried ringing reception but no answer so had to get dressed to go down to desk. The hotel's all-night bar...

This is a lovely old building and a great location however I felt that it had an unfriendly feel to it. The reception was a bit soulless in fairness, they weren't at all 'jolly' or even happy to see you. We asked for extra pillows as there is only one each on the bed, this wasn't a problem and they...

Very unfriendly and rude staff at reception. Upon entering the hotel we were told to get out, even before asking anything. Please read all reviews of this hotel before booking. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Hotel management should hire more professional staff.

This hotel is quite unique. Built on an old cathedral features a mixture of historic brickwork and plastered walls. The design is very beautiful and all the painting and the decorations make you want to find out more about the place. We took the stairs to the 4th floor just so we can see the decorations and paintings on each...

Myself and a friend visited Riga last weekend for 2 days. As it was a short visit, we wanted a good location that would allow us to walk everywhere. This hotel was perfect as it was extremely central and had some good bars and restaurants nearby. The rooms were spacious, and decorated very sympathetically, with some lovely pieces of antique...

Hotel decor is quite unusual and interesting. Very clean and staff speak good English. At times there was an odd smell in the bathroom, which I suspect may have something to do with the old towns drains because I smelled it in a few other cafe/restaurant toilets. But it eventually went and didn't bother us badly. Rooms are clean and...

This beautiful hotel was in the city center, a 3 minute walk from many fabulous sites. The room was very clean and spacious and loved the exposed brick walls. Enjoyed an incredible breakfast each morning, with so many options. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this hotel when staying in Riga!

The number one advantage with this hotel is the location! Literally just minutes from most sights in old town. Such as the dome, "Black heads house" and the old square. Mighty and mythical river Daugava is as near as these! Add to this picturesque alleys, pubs and a number of good restaurants and it is a good choice. Provided that you...

Wonderful hotel. Warm, cosy, comfortable rooms. Great breakfast and perfectly located for Riga Old Town. We spent 3 nights here over the Latvian Independence weekend, and were very happy with our choice. I would definitely visit again!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Four-star boutique Hotel Justus is located in the very of the old town of Riga, literally a few steps away from the famous Dome cathedral, within the architectural area protected by UNESCO as a part of world heritage. The immaculate renovation of the historical building was completed by April 2009, and so today the authentic facade conceals 45 cosy rooms uniquely designed to embrace the charm of genuine brickwork combined with fascinating art objects, antique as well as contemporary. Personalised service matched with attractive pricing policy makes Hotel Justus of great interest for a wide range of guests. The hotel’s site possesses high historical value, since it was part of the plot of land selected by Bishop Albert as the location for his Baltic residence back in 1210. However, the medieval wooden housing was destroyed by the fire in the 17th century, so the architectural ensemble comprising Jauniela Street today dates back to the 18th century. The facade of the hotel itself underwent the last major alteration in 1874. The building hosted a tavern in the early 19th century that was later replaced by typography and lithography services, in the 20th century it was occupied by artisan workshops, pharmaceutical laboratories, and then a cinema gallery and offices. Charms of architecture and historical atmosphere made this place a favourite shooting spot of Soviet movie-makers. Now the hotel belongs to a small group of friends that has spotted an empty run-down building and revived it with artistic energy.Idea of making restaurant Aleks comes from the simple desire to enjoy Riga of the beginning of the previous century. Interior is made from the household items of those times, which gives the restaurant unique look. ... more   less
