Welcome to Cocoa Cottage--Dominica. Cocoa Cottage is an artistic guest house located in the heart of the Roseau Valley, only a few miles from town but worlds apart. This valley is home to many waterfalls, sulfur pools, rivers, and various trails, all within minutes' drive of the cottage. Cocoa Cottage is imaginative, earthy, rustic and whimsical, a fine gentle touch with rough edges. It is a perfect union of all that nature offers. Our kitchen provides food for the soul, using the plentiful offerings of our island. At any time you'll find yourself deep in lively conversation with someone you just met, connecting, sharing, inspiring and being inspired. We adopt eco- friendly daily practices as a way of connecting with ourselves, with one another, and with the world around us.

My husband and I really enjoyed Cocoa Cottages. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite for 3 nights, and it was a great location to enjoy hiking in the Morne Trois Piton National Park, hot springs, and Roseau. We had dinner two nights and breakfast two mornings at Cocoa Cottages. The meals were delicious, their outdoor dining area is lovely, and it’s so convenient. An added bonus is that we were eating with other guests, so we made new friends, got great advice about traveling around the island and places to see, and could even arrange group outings. The setting is all rainforest, with sounds of birds, frogs, insects, and rain as your companions. The honeymoon suite windows do not close, so we were lulled to sleep by the night sounds, but it may not be a good choice if you need silence to sleep. The owners and staff were so kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

We spent 5 nights in cocoa cottage . The staff were absolutely lovely , especially Sylvie and Shaunelle.
The cottage was clean and it was nice having breakfast and dinner with some of the other guests . Breakfast was a little expensive for what you got .
Pizzas are cooked fresh at the weekends by a lovely Italian lady who lives on the island .
Be warned it can get a bit noisy at night with the rain and the frogs but you are in the middle of the rain forest and you get used to it or bring ear plugs.
We didn’t have a car but it was easy and cheap to get around by the frequent mini buses.
We walked to Trafalgar Falls which are worth seeing .
We got a taxi to the spa . The only one open when we went was Ti Kwen Glo Cho and it was fabulous . The really hot spring pool is between 40c & 45c.
Scott’s head is also worth seeing and the small town of Soufriere which has a fabulous bar on the beach by the church where you can also swim in the sea and see the volcanic bubbles coming up from the ocean floor ( better all round we thought than champagne beach ).
We went into the capital Roseau a few times . There’s a lovely hotel called Fort Young where you can have lunch or dinner but be warned the mini buses tend not to run after 7pm and not at all on a Sunday .

We absolutely loved our stay at Cocoa cottages. It felt like a little oasis just 15 minutes outside of Roseau. Even though we weren't able to stay in the treehouse, we loved the Bwa room, which was big enough for our family of four (two adults+ two teens). Breakfast was prepared every morning at 8am. Unfortunately, we never got to try dinner. But, it smelled delicious. Advance notice needs to be given for meals. Do yourself a favor and book dinner ahead of time. It was challenging to find restaurants open in the evening. Also, if you get locked out, like we did, know that there is a key to the padlock on your key ring.
I definitely want to stay longer next time we go to Dominica. Two nights was not enough to discover this slice of paradise. One week will give you enough time to explore this corner of the world.

What a great spot!

CC is located in the cool green hills of Dominica's interior. The property is surrounded by jungle and you'll fall asleep to the sounds of the forest.

We had a room upstairs in the main building. Nice little balcony. It's should be noted that the bathroom is not a separate room, so you should be well acquainted with your travel partner. Another bathroom located downstairs.

Local staff and German owner were friendly and helpful. A good breakfast is provided. Dinner also available upon request. There are a few other places to eat nearby. The only one easily reachable on foot is run by a Haitian family just down the road (simple roadside bar/eatery - order dinner in advance).

Don't think about coming up here without a car. They'd be way too much walking along roads in the sun to reach the attractions.

I would heartily recommend CC to anyone looking for an atmospheric tropical forest experience. This place (along with Dominica in general) was definitely one of the top highlights of my extensive travels in the Caribbean.

I stayed at Cocoa Cottages for 4 nights. Everything was superb. Annalisa (the caretaker/coordinator/concierge) creates a relaxing environment and has many suggestions for local activities. I feel she went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and was comfortable during my stay. The dining room/kitchen has a communal type of atmosphere which makes it great for solo travelers (or anyone who feels like meeting new people). That being said the rooms are lovely and private so you'll always have a space to retreat. There's really nothing bad or even minutely critical I can think of to say about this little haven. It's perfectly located on the island, near most major attractions, but also tucked away so you feel like you're in your own little oasis. The rooms are all unique, but the one I stayed in was perfect for what I needed. Highly highly recommend!

I stayed in the honeymoon suite and the view off the back deck was unbelievable! The waterfall and lush greenery was jaw dropping. The room was clean, bed comfy and the netting around the bed was a nice touch. All the shutters I left open at night (no glass windows) to hear the little frogs peep and the water off the falls. I also loved that we could have breakfast in the common kitchen area that was inviting w/ its open creativity (no walls on 2 sides). Make sure if you want dinner to let them know and they will have it delivered. So here came the stressful part.....long story short, we needed to have a negative COVID test done a day before we got on the plane. Annalisa was the best. She set us up w/ a private company to come right to us. Though they were not prompt and didn't take cash!, she made sure that we got those tests and let us stay as long as we needed to. Everything is close by as well. We stayed here because the hiking is on this side of the island. The one downfall is the parking. Only 3ish cars fit in the driveway, but you have to place them in such a way you can get out and are not blocked in. There are a couple spaces up the road a bit, but you have to really look for it. That being said, it is absolutely one of the best places I've stayed at in my travels & hands down the best host to handle any inquiries you have.

The natural beauty of the rainforest and the mindfulness that Annalisa (the manager) maintains in every action she performs produce a feeling of tranquility greater than any other place we have stayed in our many travels. We quarantined "safe in nature" at Cocoa Cottage, then spent four months in Dominica working remotely from the island at various locations. We periodically returned to Cocoa Cottage because we missed it, because we felt such peace while there, because it felt so much like a true home away from home. The grounds and design are beautiful and the location is excellent, being a quick drive to Roseau while being in a beautiful tropical rainforest. We explored the whole island thoroughly but our favorite places to visit (like Trafalgar Falls, Titou Gorge, and the natural hot springs baths) were very close to Cocoa Cottage. I imagine there are other lovely places to stay in the area but we always came back to Cocoa Cottage, in large part because of Annalisa. She is an extremely kind, genuinely caring, authentic person, and talented hospitality professional, who went above and beyond in her efforts to help us have the best possible experience on our visit to Dominica. She arranged important things for us like our arrival/departure documents, PCR test, activities and transportation. One of us must avoid gluten, so she cooked amazing gluten-free food that we both loved and truly felt healthier after eating. We believe her food was healing for us, very healthy and really tasty. Pizza night with guest chef Rossella was also a treat! Whenever we asked for any special requests, Annalisa was incredibly accommodating and helpful, plus she has insight into and appreciation for the island, the community and the culture that we found invaluable being curious longterm travelers. The rooms were wonderfully made up and always clean upon our arrival, which in more than one case, was on very short notice. We enjoyed three rooms during our multiple stays and loved them all, they each have their own unique charm. The Honeymoon suite was the first for our quarantine. It was wonderful and we really loved the swinging daybed overlooking the valley as well as the comfy king size bed. Our next stay we needed extra space to work in different rooms so we stayed in the Treehouse which was just so special being immersed in the rainforest canopy, the beauty and sounds of the rainforest all around. Our next stay was in the Jwa room. We loved how high up it was overlooking the stream and valley, plus the king size bed was so comfortable and we loved the design of the netting frame surrounding the bed. We will definitely return to Cocoa Cottage again and we can’t wait to wake up to Annalisa’s yummy healthy breakfast overlooking the valley surrounded by the lushness and sounds of the rainforest.

This is really an exceptional place! We stayed in the treehouse for 2 weeks, relaxing and enjoying the surrounding nature most of the day. The house is really spacious, cozy and clean, but the other rooms seem also wonderful! The treehouse is equipped by a small kitchen, so we could prepare our own meals using the delicious fruits and vegetables that we bought in the villages closed by. During our stay we had dinner twice that Guy, one of the staff members, made for us. That were really one of the best meals we had on Dominica! The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and creates a very relaxed atmosphere. The location is superb and you can reach a lot of things by walking or local buses. We can only recommend this place and are definitely back soon

We had two fabulous meals here, prepared by the German owners, Oliver and Tatya. The jungle setting is stunning, with lovely cottages perched over a river valley. We stayed in an airBNB up the street, but came here for two late dinners after a day of diving. Even though the regular cook was sick, the owners rolled up their sleeves and made us two delicious pizza and salad meals, accompanied by a delightful cabernet, served in family heirloom glasses from Oliver's family.

One word: breathtaking. This spot is conveniently located 3-miles from downtown Roseau, but it feels like a remote rainforest retreat. A nice walk (or a short drive) brings you to Trafalgar Falls. There are hot springs in the area, quaint bars and restaurants, and stunning views in every direction. The friendly staff are talented chefs, and they are always willing to help with organizing activities and trips. The nights are serene: the sounds of nature—and the rain on the roof—are the perfect sleep elixir. When we come back to Dominica, we will stay at Cocoa.
