Visited the Oak Bay Beach Hotel for three nights in August. It was a sincerely fantastic experience all the way through! Pulling up to the hotel the grounds are incredibly well maintained, everything is clean and tidy. The staff are warm and welcoming, happy to accommodate any needs we had they were nothing but a pleasure to interact with! Our room was clean as can be, we chose to forgo daily cleaning until the last day as each day you waive it, the hotel donates to kelp reforestation in the area which we really liked. Our balcony looked out over the mineral pools and the ocean beyond, perfect spot for your morning coffee accompanied by their soft and cozy robes! As well inside the halls of the hotel is loads of beautiful original artworks and really nice hand carved wood accents and furnishings. Very classy and cozy feel inside.

Staff were very helpful in providing recommendations for things to do in the area and sights to see as well. We spent one evening down at the pools, I highly recommend the coconut mojito - delish! The mineral pool itself is wonderful, as you walk down to it there’s well maintained greenery and this killer spa mist that gets you into the relaxation mindset before you even step foot into the pool area. I enjoyed the relaxing vibe down there, no noise, just the sound of the mineral fountain flowing into the pool. At night they have several fire pits going so you can keep warm when hanging out around the pool. Hot tubs were great and we were also able to head into the spa house for a dry sauna which left us feeling amazing!

Our last day we stopped by Faro for some pizza to go, we enjoyed it overlooking the water at Cattle Point, pizza was fantastic, we got the funghi and spicy beast who’s meats are sourced from a super cute local butcher shop in Oak Bay, both were terrific.

Cherry on top was seeing the northern lights from our balcony one night, such a special experience!

Overall I would absolutely recommend the hotel to visitors of the area, our whole experience start to finish was terrific, the staff, location and atmosphere made for a really memorable trip. Thanks for much Oak Bay Hotel!

Staying at this hotel is like walking onto a movie set where everything is just too perfect. The bar is full of glamorous people drinking traditional cocktails. The barmen talk about the latest books they are reading, and tell of famous authors who have stayed at the hotel. The pool area is serene, honed bodies soaking up the sun, and remember, no mobiles!
These comments are in no way meant to be sarcastic or clever, they are a snapshot of the way this place is, and we both loved it.

Having stayed at this hotel before, I knew that a water view is worth the premium. Even a partial water view room is perfect and slightly less expensive. The decor is classic and beautiful, the beds extremely comfortable and the fireplace adds a nice cosy touch.
The bathrooms, with separate toilet, huge walk-in shower, double sink vanity and large tub with shutters you can open to enjoy the view are excellent and well appointed.
Also great to have the small kitchenette with sink, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker and real cream in the little fridge.
The service is smooth and welcoming, the amenities (restaurants, mineral pool, spa etc.) excellent and the style of the hotel gracious and traditional.
It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood, yet just minutes by car to delightful Oak Bay and downtown Victoria. Expensive, but watch for specials.

We went there with another couple that has been there. The place is very clean and located in a beautiful location. The outdoor pools were wonderful to soak in. Staff are very friendly. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The main restaurant also served superb food. The only recommendation for the waiter, who was very nice, is not keep talking while holding our food in front of him. I am sure his saliva was spraying all over our food.
Beautiful neighbourhood to walk around as well. The locals were very friendly.
Everything was great except for two little things. Our room did not have some of the things our friend's room had. Things like hand lotion and soap dispensers in the bathroom and night lights. No big deal.
Our friend asked one of the rooom attendant ladies for another hand sanitizer spray bottles and was told she has to pay. Really? We paid almost $500 a night and you won't give our friend a small spray bottle maybe worth a few dollars only. The attitude was not good.
Other than that, we enjoyed the stay.

We had booked a standard room which did not have a sea view. The room was large as was the bathroom which had both a shower and bath. The bed was very comfortable indeed. In fact there was nothing that hadn't been thought of, there was even a small torch if you happened to need one!! The big plus was the kitchenette area. It was just lovely to be able to make your own breakfast and sit quietly and enjoy it in your room. We had stopped at the upmarket Whole Foods supermarket on the way down from the ferry terminal at Swartz Bay and bought a few nice things for breakfast! We spent four nights at this hotel at the end of June. We were really lucky with the weather and got admire the lovely view from the poolside. Our only negative comment would be how busy or congested the pool area was on the Saturday in particular. There seemed to be an influx of day bookings from non residents and the area is just not big enough to cope with that number of people. I think when you pay to stay in a hotel of this calibre you don't expect to be squeezed in like sardines around the pool area or have to wait around until a lounger becomes available. The pool area is lovely and the pool itself very warm! We did decide to stay at this hotel because they had a lovely pool area. In fact the location in Oak Bay is gorgeous. We visited Butchart Gardens which was stunning and well worth the visit. If you intend to eat there take your own eats/snacks it is expensive and there is a very poor choice of cakes and snacks or even light lunch options. We were very surprised by this as it is a busy attraction. The standard of restaurant in the Victoria area we did find a bit disappointing. There was no stand out restaurant in our opinion. I think my only regret is that we didn't go on a bear watching trip. Friends who recently returned from Canada did this on Vancouver Island and l think it was the highlight of their trip. Victoria is a nice city but just that, one day or afternoon is enough to see all there is to see in our opinion. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!! However if you choose to stay at Oak Bay Beach Resort you will not be disappointed. We did love it despite my small criticism!

Stayed here for 4 nights with my partner and 21 year old son. This is a quality hotel for adults and I would suggest not for minors under 16 as the pool and informal dining in the snug are for older people 16+. Room was well kept. We only had it cleaned once in the time we stayed as they promote planting sea kelp if you don’t have it cleaned. The shower gel was empty in my room on arrival and was never topped up was my only criticism but I had my own so was not a big issue. Call outs for John who kindly drove us to and from our restaurant in Oak Bay Village and the ever cheerful and friendly receptionist Sheila. She is definitely what you need as a receptionist happy, helpful and approachable. Lovely hotel I recommend

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel last week.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional, especially Dillon Carfoot, Chef Concierge. Our 2nd floor room was comfortable, cozy and quiet. There were events in the David Foster Theater both Friday & Saturday nights but the music ended at 11:00 pm which we thought was reasonable.

The hotel was doing a refresh of the Snug Pub so it was temporarily relocated to the main lobby area during our stay. We did have the opportunity to have breakfast by the window one morning which was lovely.

An easy walk to downtown Oak Bay, we enjoyed visiting the local shops and services in town, as well as the prime location allows for both residential or beach walks from right out the front door of the hotel. We did miss the free shuttle to downtown Victoria, hopefully that will be up and running again soon.

Guests have unlimited use of the mineral pools and we took full advantage of that. We also enjoyed a couples massage at the Boathouse Spa one day (fantastic deep tissue by Mary & Heather). It does get noticeably busier on the weekends with groups of guests using the spa.

We will continue to return to Oak Bay Beach Hotel in the future.

Just returned from a three week trip, Victoria to Calgary. Stayed at all highly rated/high end hotels along the way giving us the chance to experience many types of hotels/resorts.
Spent 3 nights at Oak Bay which was clearly designed for those who want to get away and rest and relax by the pool/ocean. On this level it was 5 stars including great service from the pool area staff who were attentive and offered great information about the pool services.
The room was nice although aside from the view ( ocean front) it did not offer anything special and on several aspects it did not match other places we stayed. The bathroom while pretty had little to no counter space to place toiletries etc. The room itself offered no where to unpack clothing as their was almost no drawer space other than bedside table drawers. As we were there for three nights and had clothes for our entire trip this was inconvenient and meant we had to live out of our suitcases. On this note regrettably this also is where the service did not meet our expectations of the level advertised. The room had no luggage racks
( standard in every other hotel) so our suitcases remained on the floor the first night in hopes housekeeping might notice and provided some. Unfortunately they did not, however on day two upon request 2 were provided. Additionally the room had no waste baskets, after the clean up on day 2 one appeared in the bathroom but it was odd not to have one in the main room. Regarding service I also should note that this was the only hotel in our travels that the person checking us in did not take time to point out where things were located, how to access the wifi, the need to swipe our room key in the elevator etc. We were able to figure it all out but this lack of information did detract from the welcome and was obvious when compared to other hotels in on this trip. Had this been a budget friendly hotel the lack of service, lack of luggage racks, lack of waste baskets, limited place to store items would have been acceptable. At this price point however it was a disappointment and not at the level of some other comparable hotels. I would certainly recommend it for the pool experience but suggest that if you have experienced other 5 start type resorts you might want to lower your expectations regarding the level of service you might receive here.

Dear Karin M, Thank you for sharing your review with us and the TripAdvisor community. Though I am glad you found our Mineral Pool services to be “great”, “attentive”, and the room experience “nice”, I was disheartened to learn that some aspects of your stay did not leave you with the same impressions. Our team works very hard to host our valued guests in an environment that is not only luxurious and unique, but most importantly, provide intentional hospitality at every opportunity. Please accept our apologies for the shortcomings expressed in your review. It is my pleasure to share with you that brand new luggage racks arrived early August amid multiple delays due to logistical problems. In addition to the bathroom waste basket, under the kitchenette sink in the main room, you will be able to find a large waste and recycling basket. Although your visit with us may not have met your expectations, I sincerely hope you were able to take away some pleasant memories of your stay. Should your travels bring you back to beautiful Victoria, feel free to contact me directly for all your reservation needs. With appreciation, Shane Gould Hotel Operations Manager 250-940-0301 sgould@oakbaybeachhotel.com

From the moment we pulled into the Oak Bay beach Hotel we felt welcomed and relaxed. The doorman greeted us with a friendly smile and showed us to the front desk. The check in process was quick and the young lady there was pleasant and forthcoming with the particulars of our stay. From there we made way to our room, we stayed in a lower room with an ocean view and small patio. Walking in to the cool and dimly lit space felt amazing after such a hot day. The bed looked cozy and inviting and through the screen door our eyes were led from patio, to manicured gardens to a beautiful blue sea and sky rolling out in front of us. We had certainly arrived!

After an hour or so of sitting on our quiet patio and admiring the view we decided to cancel our dinner plans in town and opt for The Snug. A "pub" within the hotel that did lay claim to some history, having been originally located here since 1954. I'm sure it wasn't in any way similar to it's current incarnation, however, "Snug" would still be the perfect incapusaltion of the atmosphere of this relaxing and charming part of the hotel. It was a warm evening and we asked to sit outside, the balcony was in shade but the sea, islands and the magnificent Mount Baker were glowing with the setting sun. Twinkling lights began to light up in the shrubs around the manicured gardens below, the only sounds were quiet conversation and laughing, distant music from the lobby and cutlery on plates.

Our server was friendly and available and we indulged the night away.

Returning to our room we found our bed turned down and ready to be jumped in, we settled in for the evening. The television didn't have an option for streaming services where we could sign in to our personal accounts, we had seen this at other hotels but there were plenty of other options and as indulgence was the theme of the evening we paid for a recently released movie.

In the morning the wife had a massage booked, she put on the soft robe provided in the room and wandered down to the spa. She returned with a smile and commented on how relaxed she felt.

This was a stay cation for us and only for one night. We left the hotel that morning feeling relaxed and calm having spent a wonderful evening indulging in quality service, with professional staff in magnificent grounds at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Perfect! Thanks to all involved in our stay at this true gem .

Wonderful stay here for a week in an ocean view boutique suite on the 3rd floor. You can see the ocean from the bathtub & the bed, and watch the beautiful sunrises & sunsets.
Well appointed upscale hotel, friendly welcoming staff & the room has a little kitchenette w/ cookware, cutlery, dishes, as well as the usual Nespresso, microwave, kettle & bar fridge. The lobby is inviting & has nice ocean views. The heated mineral pools & hot tubs are great… it’s nice to sit by the fire and quieter at night.
There’s an on-site pub that has decent cocktails & food with a high price tag. The pizza restaurant makes pretty good pies. We ordered room service for breakfast a few mornings & it cost a pretty penny as well… there’s an additional $5 fee + 18% gratuity.
If you’re don’t have a vehicle… the hotel is ~15-18 min cab ride from downtown. The hotel does have a shuttle available to oak bay village & downtown. The closest restaurant offsite is at the marina which is a few minutes walk.
We would definitely stay here again… but perhaps it’s more of a weekend getaway due to the fact that we didn’t rent a car & needed to arrange for a ride nightly and cab back which felt like a bit of a hassle.
