Hotel's Favourite
I cannot say enough good things about this resort. Everyone was very nice and extremely helpful when I got into a bind on the east end of the island where there is little (actually no) cell service. Everyone from the front desk to the owner of the property were attentive and showed concern for my happiness and well being. I got the deluxe King room located on the second floor and I had a beautiful view of the ocean. I enjoyed sitting out on my balcony every morning with of cup of coffee and deciding what I would do for the day. My large room was very clean and comfortable. Big fluffy pillows! Housekeeping was on point. Beach towels are provided. I wish I ciuld just move in there! lol. Some of the beaches on the island can be rocky, so I would suggest taking along water shoes.
Bottom line, I would NOT hesitate to stay here again.

First, the staff couldn't be nicer. We had a couple of issues with our room and everything was "fixed" within 24 hours. By fixed I mean they really couldn't so they sealed, patched, covered or removed what was not working. The hotel is in need of a serious facelift, especially the exterior. Instead of lattice on our patio like other units, we had a blue tarp that kept coming loose. The upper deck definitely needs to be replaced.
That being said, the rooms are very spacious with generous closet and drawer space. Each unit has a patio or balcony that overlooks the beautiful Caribbean. The downstairs units have a little kitchenette, the upstairs just had fridge and microwave.
The overall property is nice but definitely needs updating.
The Galleon Restaurant is and has been closed for a couple of years and the Spa is closed indefinitely. They need to update their website.
I did hear that the property is for sale.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We're happy that you enjoyed our staff and beautiful views from every room. We feel horrible about the blue tarp on your patio divider. Another long term guest put that in place and we failed to remove it prior to your visit. As you probably noticed, we are nearly complete in replacing all of the lattice dividers with a new, more private wooden divider. We are also in the process of continuing renovations all around the property. We apologize if you missed the mention of the spa and The Galleon being closed on our website. The spa should be reopening soon, and our guest service representatives are always here to assist guests with spa services such as massage, etc. We appreciate you staying with us and hope you'll be back again to enjoy a fresh look with outstanding views!

Tamarind Reef is a very comfortable, clean, conveniently located, friendly, spacious, safe, and a pretty place to stay. All of the staff were helpful and accommodating and the room we had on the upstairs level was breezy, cool, super clean with loads of room. However, if you are looking for a hotel with a beach to step right out onto and have a swim, this might not be for you. There is a beach, but there is also a long (probably healthy) reef that runs all along the waterfront that is daunting with rocks and sea urchins etc... We are seasoned snorkelers and swimmers and brought aqua shoes with us to navigate the reef but never felt quite brave enough. There is a pool, but it is quite small and gets a lot of use. We opted for the beach at the Buccaneer just down the road for a $15 cab fare. Once there, you can buy a $10 wristband that entitles you to use of their beach, chairs, umbrella, and some toys. We also drove to Fredricksted a few times where the SandCastle hotel also offers the same option and the beach there is more than worth the drive. The restaurant and bar at the Tamarind Reef has a great atmosphere with a very friendly staff but the hours and what they offer are still a bit confusing due to coming out of the covid restrictions etc... All in all, this is a wonderfully chill place to stay that has a casual charm to it that is representative of Saint Croix it self...and the price is totally fair!

My son learned a valuable lesson during our stay here - that even when his mom saves up a lot of money and plans a special trip to a special place, the people and the resort may not be what he'd hoped for. Not even close. The resort, especially the rooms, resemble nothing of their ads. On arrival and during our stay (because they wouldn't move us), our room smelled like mold, the A/C has one setting - arctic, there's overflowing trash cans everywhere and the restaurant staff (with a couple exceptions) are incredibly rude. We were trapped here without a vehicle and while it's great to have kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel stuff available, you really can't swim off this beach. Too many big waves and rocks. When we did escape via taxi ($40 one way to Fredericksted, $15 to Christiansted, $30 to the airport), all the drivers commented on how disappointed their Tamarind Reef passengers were with the resort. They all felt it was shameful and shared stories worse than ours. I honestly wish we'd had one of the great experiences others describe with their 4 and 5 star ratings. But we most certainly did not. What a waste of money.

First of all, this is in no way shape or form a 4 or 5 star resort. If that’s what you’re looking for go elsewhere and pay the big(ger) bucks. In fact, calling this a resort is a bit of a stretch. It’s more like a nice ocean front motel with a nice pool and restaurant adjacent.
The single best quality about the Tamarind is that all the rooms have a full direct ocean view and are at the water’s edge. I don’t think there’s anything else like it on the island. For all 3 buildings, the first floor has a patio and the second a balcony. The rooms themselves are clean and quite spacious and seem to be recently renovated.
There’s no beach in front of any of the three buildings. But there is a nice beach adjacent to the pool area. But like most of Saint Croix it’s rocky in the water.
In general the grounds are in need of a good amount of TLC. It’s not bad but they could do a lot more with it.
We ate at the restaurant a couple times and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Oddly they weren’t open for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. Maybe a Covid thing.

This review is for the first 3 nights of our stay, my wife will leave a review of the last 3 nights.
I knew I should've said something at check in when they put us all the way down in the very last room next to the bar but so close to the pool. After night one when the bar didn't shut down at 9:30 and the drunks we still out making noise at midnight and the rooster woke up at 4:30 we should've moved. We put up with no water pressure, very little hot water in the shower, and the bar and hotel workers parking in the very limited 6 parking spaces for 3 days before we had enough and told the front desk that we wanted to move.
When we went to the desk they told us that that building was being renovated. I don't understand why they put us there knowing that because there were very few people staying at the resort to begin with.
The pool was cold and is a lap pool.
To the resorts credit after we went to the front office they moved us up to building 1, room 5 which was much quieter, had more parking, lots of hot water, and a kitchenette (we didn't use it).
I'd consider staying here again but only if guaranteed a spot in building 1. Building 3 is always going to be noisy at night and the parking situation is never going to change. Also this is a look at the ocean only place the sea was pretty rough during our entire stay and there are signs to beware of Sea Urchins.

My husband and I spent a week at Tamarind Reef. Our room was exceptional . . clean, spacious and included a beautiful view. We were met with friendly faces everyday which made our stay all the more enjoyable. The housekeeping staff, maintenance, restaurant and bar staff and front desk were all there to make our experience the best it could be. I would strongly recommend Tamarind for couples, families and those looking for a most convenient location in which to explore the island.

Great more private spot in Christiansted !! They have no real soft sand beachfront ! You can’t just walk out and go in water( unfortunately). You can hear the waves at night and it’s really beautiful! We slept with door open . It’s an older resort with limited amenities. No laundry and an ok workout room which you have to walk to. They only have a bar/restaurant with no cocktail list and just some bar food ! Breakfast is very limited ! Food is ok at best! Make reservations at Goat soap n Whiskey or Duggens reef or The Landing( all so good )😋 Rooms are clean air conditioner is quiet . Bathroom is small with no privacy and water trickles out of shower head. Beds comfy and staff very nice!! Place needs work but overall we had a lovely stay!

Thank you for your feedback. We value our guest, and our goal is for our guest to return for another amazing stay. Our location is perfect to explore the whole island and there are so many beaches all public and easily accessible with a short drive. St. Croix is meant to explore and although our water is more of a snorkel and explore beach, you can enjoy our tide pools next to the beach which make for a safe area. Enjoy the outer side of the reef and explore great snorkeling. Volleyball is a favorite activity by many or just relaxing on the beach chairs and watching the waves, boats go by and ultimately the amazing sunset that can be seen even though we are the East side of the Island. Take a splash in our ocean front pool and order drinks from the bar or let the server come to you. Call the hotel for our great rates and thank you for the positive remarks. You named some fabulous local restaurants that are all close to Tamarind Reef and sure to be enjoyed by all. Enjoy our ocean front dining at The Deep End and their nightly specials, along with enjoying the evening shows and activities we have. They are sure to be a highlight on your stay. We have kitchenettes for those who want to cook in at the end of a fun day of island adventures.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas. The owner (John) and his staff were EXCELLENT. Every person was nice and helpful. The room was nice, clean and all rooms have a great view. They were having some issues with the lights; our overhead light would randomly come on in the middle of the night.
Some thIngs to consider about staying here - if you don’t have a car, taxis cost $20 to go anywhere. Also, if a cruise ship is in town, it’s impossible to get a taxi because they all go to Fredericksted. There isn’t a good beach at the hotel either. There is a nice perk that they give guests a $15 credit per person for breakfast.
Overall, I liked this hotel. It’s also a lot cheaper than the Buccaneer.

We stayed at Tamarind Reef Resort in St Croix from April 23rd through April 30th. Not happy with our first room by bar so we were upgraded to Room 5 in the building next to the office. The view of Buck Island from the large patio was gorgeous. We had a kitchenette with microwave, cooktop and mini fridge. Air conditioner worked well had plenty of hot water and water pressure unlike room 23. It was very quiet. The trade winds were very strong so spending time on the patio listening to the waves crash on the rocks
was very soothing. The restaurant had very good food,
Lacey remembered our breakfast order after the second day and service was always great except for Carribean night on Friday. The drinks were perfect…not to strong.

Pass through five traffic lights, continuing straight. You will see the route number change to Route 70, which you will follow around a few curves until you come to a light at the bottom of the hill.
