This grand family estate has been renovated with taste and style offering all modern conveniences and comfort whilst keeping its charm. Make sure you take the time to visit the amazing lower ground floor. The welcome is very warm and staff is very attentive. The place is peaceful and restful and full of history. We would love to come back to take advantage of the beautiful pool setting as unfortunately the weather was rather cold when we were there. Whilst simple meals can be arranged, I would recommend eating out in Ponte de Lima which is a very pleasant little city with a good variety of restaurants. The hotel is also a good base for visiting the Penada Geres National Park. A great place at a very reasonable price.
This is a gem, off the beaten track, If you are looking for something different then this is it! This is a renovated ancestral family home that looks like a palace with a large courtyard, sitting room and dining room, gardens and private swimming pool you will feel like you have gone back in time! It is very tranquil , we stayed around the pool one day to relax and there was nobody else around! The staff are very accomodating and even though there is no restaurant on site they will cook a 3 course meal for you in the dining room if you woul dlike to eat in, if the weather is fine you can sit on the terrace outside to eat. Our room was lovely and looking out towards the mountains and the pool.
This is a beautiful and quiet place in the country site. We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed the very beautiful restored building, we even got a private tour through the building and the chapel. We also enjoyed the pool with the nice weather we had.
Before we came to stay here we wondered if it could ever live up to all the wonderful reviews it had received. Well it did not just live up to them, it surpassed them. Nothing could be faulted. Everyone on the staff was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The building iself is beautiful and most tastefully restored and furnished. Because much of the interior decor has been supplied by the owners it does feel like staying in someone’s ( admittedly very grand) home. If you have the chance do ask to see the private chapel and also the lower ground floor. The garden is lovely too. We ate in both nights. There is not a restaurant as such but there is a pleasant dining room and you can choose from a limited selection which seems to change daily. The food consists of beautifully cooked traditional dishes using mostly fresh produce from the owners’ estate. Breakfast was also lovely too. We did a delightful walk beside the river (one of us on foot and the other on a bicycle borrowed from the hotel) to the very charming and ancient town of Ponte De Lima. We cannot recommend this hotel too highly and can’t wait to return.…
I have nothing but praise for Paco de Vitorino following a 3 night stay this week. The building itself has been beautifully restored and furnished. Our room in the former stables combined the traditional with the contemporary in a highly successful way. Beds, bathroom and furnishings were excellent and we enjoyed the terrace overlooking the baroque garden and ponds. There is a large swimming pool, although rather unseasonal weather prevented us from using it. Breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. We had supper on our first night which was very good. The staff were charming and helpful. The surrounding countryside is delightful too. All in all a perfect spot for a relaxing stay; I would love to return.
