What a lovely and quiet hotel in a beautiful place. We liked the cleanliness of the room, 2 windows we could open, good heating and good shower/ water pressure. Breakfast is really nice and hosts are super friendly. When you are traveling with a group you might find it not great that the common area is closed at night, so you have to go to a restaurant or another hotel for drinks and to play games.

We loved our stay here. We got lucky with rooms at the front facing into the village and the alps. The view was amazing. Right next to the train station and cable car to Murren, literally steps away. Train didn’t wake me, but it was audible and kind of shook the room when I was already awake. If you’re a light sleep it could be a problem, but didn’t bother us. Outdated decor added to the charm for me. Very clean. Food was good but as with most places in Lauterbrunnen the choices are limited and getting snacks to go with beer is nonexistent. I’d give five stars for the view alone but some staff seemed intent on ignoring us. One young lady was wonderful and attentive, but another waitress just never came back even when trying to make contact with her. They’d have sold more food and drinks if they’d just come back to our table! There is a Coop across the street and we were able to store some cold drinks and snacks on our balcony. Things close up early in Lauterbrunnen and restaurants are the only night time entertainment, but you should be going there for a little quiet time anyway.

I just love our rooms in the main hotel. So cute and have a great view from our balcony! The place was charming and clean. I loved the location next to the station. We’re on an extended vacation and not having to lug the luggage all through town was nice. It’s a only a little bit noisy in the morning, but with so much to do and breakfast, who wants to sleep to long?! Restaurant downstairs is nice but pricey. They make wonderful pizza, however you must ask them to cut it for you. Downfall is, if you are with a group, they charge 5 Francs for each extra plate for a piece of the pizza! First night had good service, but night after was terrible service. We couldn’t even get napkins to use with the pizza we ordered. Hard to get servers attention when we wanted to order more and/ or get the check. We felt deliberately snubbed and wondered if we by anyway offended someone. I really don’t think we did. We didn’t complain or make any demands. It was not a very busy night either!

Rooms are right by the train tracks and main road so if you don’t enjoy peace and quiet, you’ll love it here. Nonstop noise, unable to sleep because of it.

Rooms have no toilets or showers, have to share with the rest of your floor. Toilets being on one side of the floor and only one shower on the other side of the floor. Absolutely ridiculous

Have to pay for parking alongside all the other fees this ‘hotel’ charges.

The food is always covered in flies.
This is a bar for locals, so again, good luck sleeping or getting any silence at all.

Miserable stay, and all other guests seemed miserable as well. Do not stay here. Book a hotel in a town nearby and take the train/bus/bike in.

Staff however is friendly.

We were in the area for 4 nights and decided on Lauterbrunnen for our home base. The Hotel Steinbock provided a great location for our needs. It's situated right next to the train station and half a block from the Coop.

The hotel itself in the main building is a little dated, but everything was functional and clean. The staff in the lobby/restaurant were friendly and helpful. We forgot our travel adapter and they offered use of theirs. Breakfast was included, which was a big bonus for us. It was a standard continental breakfast, with bread, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit, cereal and tea/coffee to order. We found the cheese and mueslix to be of greater quality than most free offerings in the area.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Our balcony offered a great place for us to end the day after hiking. We picked up some beer/wine from the Coop and relaxed outside each night while waiting for the sun to fall.

The Steinbock is across the street from the train station and right next to the COOP which makes it a great location. We arrived at the Steinbock early and our room was not yet ready. We were able to leave our luggage but there is no set place to leave it (it was left in front of the cash register with some others). I'd rather that they have a place to lock it up - but it's on me for arriving early. The room we stayed in was across the street. The room was not huge but had a nice balcony. I'd like to mention that there are no elevators so we had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs. I'm not sure if that is the norm, but it might be difficult for some if you don't know that. We had a wonderful dinner of pizza and salad at the restaurant. Breakfast was included and it was good. The staff was very friendly.

A cozy Old World Swiss Hotel with a nice dining room and little bar right next to the Train Station. We always stop in here for snacks and some cold drinks after walking in town and after the Gondola ride down from Murren. Family run operation and very clean.

Friendly warm restaurant next to the train station.
With great pizzas. I recommend onion soup, filling enough to be a main especially at lunch.
Standard Swiss prices for this area which were pretty steep if your from the Uk.

Charming guesthouse in a very quiet location. Not
the most effusive of hosts, but all was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good.
It is a very quaint location next to a church and a River with a covered bridge. But the church bells do ring every quarter hour through the night. I found this charming and they did not disturb me.

Just one of few restaurants open at night and but a good place to have dinner and drinks. They offer wild meat and I got the venison and it takes getting used to it as the taste is something different. I suggest to go for traditional, typical orders to be sure.

Hi guys. We stayed here several months ago. You cannot completely get away from station noise. That said it’s a great hotel, in a good location, and with friendly staff. Enjoy your stay!
