Our friendly, family run hotel enjoys the ideal location in the centre of Lauterbrunnen, only a 5 minute walk from the train station, with epic views of the famous “Staubbach” waterfall. We have a famous restaurant with amazing views from the terrace for al-fresco dining. Our beer garden is very popular and the ideal place for good coffee, local beer or maybe an aperol spritz. We have a dynamic and professional team, and our Swiss and International staff are multi-lingual. German, French, Italian, English and Portuguese are all spoken fluently. We offer free WLAN/WIFI throughout the hotel. Lauterbrunnen itself is situated in one of the most awe-inspiring settings in the world. Ideal for summer and winter vacations with quick and easy access to Mürren, Wengen or Kleine Scheidegg. Our Restaurant in Hotel Oberland is very popular. Our Head-Chef is Herr Raymond Kohler from Canton Bern. We serve Swiss and international dishes and we are famous for the quality of our service.

I stayed at the Hotel Oberland last September for the eighth time since 1991. Each time I have stayed there I am reminded of why I cherish the place. It is not because the locations is ideal - which it is. It is partly because the staff are welcoming - they are beyond welcoming - they are so concerned with their visitors that you hate to leave them behind. But, perhaps, even more than that, the Hotel Oberland provides the ultimate Swiss Alpine experience. The rich tapestry of vacationing in the Alps could not be provided more thoroughly than at the Hotel Oberland I am anxious to return. Mike B.

And we haven’t even been to the hotel yet! We had a long-planned trip to Switzerland and this wonderful hotel; then COVID-19 hit. Our river cruise was canceled and, being from the US, we could not even enter Switzerland for our stay at the Hotel Oberland. Obviously, this is minor in the big picture tragedy of the pandemic, but we felt we should try to solve our little problem. We had a reservation with a cancellation fee. After a simple request, they gladly waived the fee and allowed us to cancel the reservation at no cost! Such service should be recognized! We were slightly hesitant to do so because we would like to try again to stay next year. Too many five star reviews may make it difficult to book!

Zapraszam!

Came for a week with my son to get away and do some hiking, couldn't ask for a better place. The location was perfect, everything we needed was in walking distance, the rooms were in top shape and comfortable, the restaurant was lively with excellent Swiss cuisine and great prices and the staff were super friendly. Would absolutely come back again!

We planned a last minute stay in mountainous Switzerland and were lucky enough to find available rooms in one of the most eye-catching locations in Berner Oberland. This hotel fitted the bill. It couldn't be more centrally located in town. We were housed in the Crystal building. The room itself matched 2-star standards in my opinion, without overdoing it. The beds were decent, the bathroom had had a lot of attention put into and all the comfort you could need. The breakfast was above average for this hotel category and comes included in the price, which makes sense. I had my soft boiled eggs and croissants. That made me a happy early riser. We had two dinners there. Some menu items are strangely overpriced (yes, I'm tallking about you "Entrecote maison"). The pizzas are great, so are the desserts, all are 'hausgemacht'.
Things that could be improved : lighting in the bathroom, make the French fries from scratch (they were frozen...), allow manual setting of the heater (was too hot). Maybe more cereal choices ? But that's a strech :)

Me and my friend decided to go backpacking around Switzerland and we didn’t booked a hotel beforehand. Our first stop was in Lauterbrunnen, At the train station me and my friend saw a signage there with a lists of hotels to go to and decided to go to this hotel. Upon arrival, Me and my friend chose to stay at a not so expensive room with two beds, but the lady at the front desk suggested a room with a balcony. We politely declined the offer, knowingly the price for this room would be a bit over our budget. And suddenly, the a man behind us started asking us random questions not knowingly he was the owner of the hotel. Anyways, to make the story short, the owner of the hotel gave us a room with a balcony view just the same price as the room we first chose! I would like to say thank you for the accommodation. The staff were super friendly and helpful. You can really ask them questions regarding on where you want to go, tourist spots in Switzerland, transportation esp. train tickets and etc. I really enjoyed my stay in Hotel Oberland and I do hoped that I’ve stayed for a couple more days there, plus the free breakfast (food was suberp!) I would really recommend you guys to come here especially those who are first timers in Switzerland and who can’t speak Swiss German/German. The staff there can speak good English and are very easy to talk to. Definitely going back! Till my next stay there 🇨🇭☺️

The location is very close to the Lauterbrunnen station and the famous Staubbach falls.

They may have purchased another hotel called Crystal, where we actually got the room. The room nice and big with two beds big enough to accommodate 4 persons.

Breakfast is included and it's good.

The bathroom had a bathtub. The view from balcony was nice. We could see the Staubbach falls.

Regarding reception, they need to be more proactive. They did not provide with the wifi password, which I had to ask them over the phone.

Even there was no glass for drinking water in the room. The lady in the reception just handed over the keys and left. We expected that she would let us know the phone numbers to call for talking to the reception or the restaurant or room service. I found the phone going outside the room.

The staff in the receptions can remember this and improve to some extent.

The restaurant is ridiculously overpriced. To share the food an empty plate costs 5 CHF. They even told that each glass of tap water would cost 5 CHF. We just took one glass and somehow they didn't take the charge.

In one word the staffs seemed to be a bit reluctant about their guests.

Response from Hotel Oberland, Owner at Hotel Oberland
Responded Aug 2, 2022
Thank you Mr. Banerjee for your review I am happy to hear you enjoyed many things about Hotel Oberland, including the free breakfast, nice balcony with view of the waterfalls and the large clean bedroom. We definitely can improve on many things, like all hotels, and I will talk to my team and we will take into consideration your points as we strive to be even better. Thankfully, most guests are delighted with their stay at Hotel Oberland. With respect, we don't think our restaurant is overpriced, our prices are normal for Switzerland. So we will not be making any changes in pricing right now, although we will always keep an eye on prices (and costs). Costs are high in Switzerland and restaurant salaries are double that of the EU (often more) Tap water is free in our restaurant if other drinks (non-alcoholic or with alchohol) are purchased. If not, then we charge chf2 per glass of tap water, not chf5 as you have incorrectly stated. You were actually not charged anything for tap-water despite not ordering any paid-for drinks. At your table one of you did not want to order a meal, and asked for extra plate in order to share another's main course. We simply cant allow this for free, I wish we could but it’s not sustainable. So we charge CHF5 for the extra plate requested by people who don’t want to order a meal. I think diners respect our right to try and make a profit. And most diners understand that when they go for an evening dinner to a nice restaurant, there is an expectation that they will each order a dinner. Costs are high in Switzerland and restaurant salaries are double that of the EU. I dine out every few weeks and I would never expect a popular restaurant to give us a nice table and then one of us declines to order a meal but instead requests an empty plate for free, washed down with free tap water. Sharing plates are indeed 5 CHF, but we plan to end this practise soon and instead respectfully expect that all guests visiting our popular restaurant terrace support our business by purchasing one main course per adult. This will make things easier. I hope this helps you understand our position. Best wishes to you Stephen Host and owner

We felt cared for. Everyone at the front desk was extremely accommodating with dinner reservations , excursions and parking information. Matin was Jack of all trades cleaning rooms, running hairdryers up to the fourth floor cheerfully when it was quite a haul. No elevators. Matin’s recommendation to go to Schiltorn Mountain on our last day ended up being our best day in Lauterbrunnen. How can we ever thank him!!
We had a reservation for 12 people at the Hotel Overland Restaurant but the restaurant was unexpectedly closed due to staff shortages so Linda at the front desk, was able to help us book another restaurant in Wengen plus she provided excellent information on how to catch the train up there! Location of Hotel Oberland was extremely convenient to the train station and bus stops. Front staff shared times for bus pick ups and with us having a Swiss Travel pass it was free. We used it a lot to get to Trummelbach Falls and also the cable cars to Schilltorn mountains.

Hotel is located 4-5 min walk from the train station toward waterfalls. Check in us at 15:00 but we were able to leave luggage at the hotel. Staff is very friendly and willing to give any advices. Rooms are slightly dated with low ceiling and old carpet. Bathroom was clean and shower gel provided. Beds are also dated but linen was clean and fresh. There is no refrigerator in the room. Room noice isolation is not desirable and you can hear people walking above your room. Breakfast is excellent and coffee machine makes excellent coffee! COOP store in town is helpful with decent selection of food and beverages including alcohol. Its located on the opposite side of the street form the train station. It closes at 18:30 on week days and 17:00 on Saturdays, closed on Sundays. Restaurant has good selection and food serves very fast! Not sure if that is a plus. Overall, good impression! Make sure you bring a power outlet converter if you are from North America.

It was our last minute booking when visiting Swiss Alps for the first time at it was perfect. We were greated by wonderful staff that takes care of all of your needs. We stayed there 3 nights, got car parking, plenty of hiking tips and a fine dinner (Fondue!) at their restaurant. Breakfast was European (boiled eggs, that are still hot&soft, meats&cheezes, cruasants, fruits). Hotel Oberland is in a very good location in Lauterbrunnen (not far from the train station and gondola to Gruetschalp). Would definetely come back!

We came for two nights in early September. The location is great as it right by the waterfall hike and many great trails like Kleine Sheidegg and Schynegie Platte as well as lakes Brienz and Thun. The village itself is very small and there is not much to do there.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was average. Breakfast was below par. There is no free parking anywhere in the village and you have to pay for a spot even if you are a hotel guest. The room was plain without much character but all in all the value for money was pretty good.
