A charming Hostel in it's own grounds right by the sea. There is a veranda all the way round where you can relax and take in the wonderful gardens kept to an exceptionally high standard. There is a lovely dining room just off the well equipped andcosy communal kitchen. There was even chocolate cake for pud the day we stayed....

We enjoyed a two day stay at the cottage and found it very comfortable and inviting. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with asters, geraniums, roses and even a few fruit trees. The garden was ablaze with color when we were there this March. The owners are friendly and attentive to the cottage. The beds were comfortable, the location was quiet...

We spent 2 nights in this lovely hostel and it was perfekt. Very nice rooms, a good kitchen, a splendid garden and really close to the sea. We enjoyed our stay in this well organised and managed hostel and if we come back to Akaroa we will definitively try to stay another time there

Away from the main Akaroa 'crowd', this is an amazingly welcoming, quiet and clean hostel. Up-to-date rooms, fully equipped kitchen and a gorgeous garden located on the shore of Barrys bay surrounded by the beautiful Hills. Just a short distance to town, wonderful walking options and bikes and plenty of sightseeing advice available from the friendliest hosts! Very much recommended...

The most beautiful hostel that I've ever stayed in during my 6 bicycle tours of South Island. An imaculate 1800's NZ farmhouse at the end of Akaroa Bay surrounded by an unbelievable, large yard that can best be described as a botanical garden. Cornelius, our Dutch host provides the perfect warmth and friendliness to make this a must in your...

Set in Barry's Bay a few km outside of Akoroa town. The accommodation is a beautiful old cottage and very clean. Cornelious is a very accommodating gentlemen who was only too happy to give me local advice on working routed etc... The atmosphere in the evening is very calm and relaxed with the opportunity to sit in the garden or...

A old cottage transformed in a charming hostel with only a few rooms... Perfectly located in Barrys Bay, just 10 minutes by car from central Akaroa. Surrounded by a large, lush garden, this small hostel has all you need: comfy double rooms, a well equipped kitchen, living room, BBQ area, laundry facilities, clothesline... Plus awesome views of the bay. Not...

Thanks Cornelius and Margo (whom we met only very briefly when we were leaving, because she had to work all the time) for being such great hosts and for all the talks about immigrating to NZ! I knew other people have similar experiences :-) I am so glad that we didn't book a hostel in Akaroa itself. Without any doubt...

We stayed there for one night and wished we never had to leave. Cornelius and Margo were so welcoming and great hosts. The cottage is lovely, very clean and well maintained. On top of it the garden is amazing and so relaxing! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a special gateaway in Akaroa!

Stayed here 6 years ago when I visited Akaroa and trekked the Banks Peninsula. It's still an exceptionally homely and beautiful place. Cosy rooms, spotlessly clean living area, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. And what struck me as an immaculate garden bursting with colours 6 years ago was still pristine. The current owners, Margo, and Cornelius, are new, but run a tight...
