Short stay with work, but the experience was 1st rate. Loved the unique nature of the rooms, and the location is stunning. Rooms tidy and the service was outstanding , also enjoyed the quality restaurants close by. Didn’t get the chance to try the heated pool this time. Thanks, we will be back
We stayed in appartment 27. Right on the waterfront. Great location. Very well equipped appartment.with views to die for. In.my view the best place to stay in Akaroa. Would definitely stay again for longer. A home away from home.
Very comfortable room, wonderful views and the owners were most helpful. They emailed us all the activities that were available prior to our visit. The location of the hotel was ideal as restaurants close by. Right opposite the wharf area where many of the tours depart from.
Some rooms in the complex look quite modern and well appointed ... our room, 62, which is the turret room on the corner was anything but. Very tired from the carpets to the furniture, bedding, blinds, lighting and bathroom. No Air Con, which on a 28 degree sunny day made the room unbearable. Just a very uninspiring and basic room which is way overpriced. That said, I would pay $300 a night for the same room if it was fully and tastefully refurbished (and I mean start again from the ground up) because of the location and views. With some comfortable outdoor furniture on the balcony (rather than the very uncomfortable chairs there now), it would be delightful to sit outside and take in ambiance and beauty of Akaroa Harbour. I will not be staying at this property again.
I was taking a long commemorative weekend in Akaroa and booked online at the property, which was much more expensive than others, but I wanted to make it a special time. Positive: Staff all very friendly / property clean / location excellent (close to activities) / walking distance to shops, cafes & restaurants / great ice cream shop at reception. Not so good - the room I was initially put in had no heating/aircon - just very large fans, which were ineffective and noisy. I was moved for the first 2 nights, but needed to move back for the last night. Unfortunately, after being out I got back and the room was unbearable (it is the Turret Room). There were no other rooms available, so as it was so oppressive I left. I have been unable to get any refund - just an offer of discount on any future booking (there will be none). This has soured my weekend - I expect a level of comfort, especially when paying the higher rates - so disappointing. Their descriptions are not really that accurate, which is a shame, as the people working there are actually very friendly. In the current times, places like Akaroa keep asking for support to their tourism, this kind of thing does nothing to encourage us to spend our hard earned money there. The service from staff very good, the actual rooms, not great value. And to top it off when you arrive there may be additional charges to use the pool per day. Other reviews are similar, so perhaps the owners of the rooms need to look at what is important to them - profit or service (leading to recommendation).…
