We were staying in the Garden Room rather than the Cottage itself. It is ideal for a couple - beautifully decorated and very clean and warm. Great tea and coffee facilities, and a well thought-out breakfast is provided. The lack of cooking facilities is a bonus - one doesn't need to feel guilty about eating out! The shower is awesome. Free Netflix too. Judy is a delightful host, and the garden is very private, tranquil and extensive.

We stayed three nights in beautiful garden room. Perfect for a couple with wonderful outside sheltered seating area to enjoy breakfast or picnic dinner in quiet garden - we were joined by several fan tail birds flitting among the vines. Breakfast of coffee, herbal teas, Greek yoghurt, blueberries, toast and jams. Perfect. Close in to township to enjoy attractions. Safe and highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed 2 nights in the Garden room. Everything has been tastefully done. The decoration is so stylish. Everything has been thought of. The shower is just amazing. We woke to the birds singing. I even recorded it, it was just so magical. The Mill Cottage has also been beautifully decorated. The garden is a joy to walk around in and the little stream running around the property, makes it truly one of the most beautiful gardens. I just loved all the native birds. From big fat wood pigeons, Tui and Bellbirds. We went for several walks near by and it's an easy walk into town. Judy and Alan are the most incredible hosts. They know all the best restaurants to go to and all the local activities. I felt our stay was truly a privilege and we both felt very lucky to have experienced such a magical place. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Mill Cottage in Akaroa has got to be the best place to stay by far. It is tended by a lovely couple who take care of you through your stay and aid you in any way needed. The cottage is located down a side street meaning it is quiet, serene and has a beautiful atmosphere. It is perfectly placed among the town easy to access the beach and one main road. It has a luxurious garden and facilities for up to 5 people to stay. There is also a garden room perfect for a couple to stay which is detached from the actual cottage.

We stayed 3 nights in early April 2017 and absolutely loved it! The day we arrived was a beautiful sunny day and the cottage looked so amazing. We loved it so much that we didn't even leave that night to go to dinner in town. We stayed in and ate our breakfast for dinner, had drinks and enjoyed the beauty of the cottage and grounds. Rosie and Alistair are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and are perfect hosts. Rosie cooked us an incredible breakfast on the day we left and we enjoyed chatting with her. If you are staying in Akaroa I highly recommend staying in the Mill Cottage!
