This lovely accommodation was recommended to us by friends and we can understand why they did so. Our hosts Jane and Richard are extremely friendly and have made us exceedingly welcome. We stayed in an apartment called Barn number one, it had excellent views. Close to Akaroa, ten minutes or so. Could not fault any aspect of Twin Gullies, will stay for longer next time!

Hi guys It was great to meet you both and hear your interesting thoughts both medical and film related. One of our favourite aspects of the Bed and Breakfast is to share time with people like yourselves, everybody has a story. Thanks for taking the time to write your review, we look forward to seeing you again Kind regards Richard and Jane

So, yes their are nice views at this place. However, our unit (The Stables) was a bit small in the bedroom and we banged our heads several times on the slanted ceilings around the bed. Although we stayed 2 nights, they didn't service the room at all. What!!! Only time in our 16 days in NZ that this happened. When we requested ice, they stated they had none (WOW/Really??). Breakfast was fine, although like many places in NZ they like to half-cook the bacon. Missed out on Swimming with the Dolphins as host wanted to use only one of the companies and insisted on calling them herself and by the time she told us the next morning that they were booked, so was everyone else. Bummer!. By the way, the building in the center of their website photo next to the pool is their house, not available to guests

Mark Its regrettable that you did not enjoy your stay, however there are some comments that need to be corrected. The Stables is a period building with slanted ceilings however no other guests have ever complained about hitting their heads so we are confused. We do not as a general rule service bedrooms in self contained accommodation ( as most NZ BnBs do not) however we are happy to provide fresh towels and dispose of rubbish etc if its requested. You missed out on swimming with dolphins because you did not book in advance, You are incorrect, we work with both company's and were merely trying to help you out by attempting to get you a space. We did in fact contact BOTH company's. Due to government environmental protections, on any given day there are only a total of less than 50 spots available. These spaces are usually booked weeks if not months in advance. A word of advice for people considering this activity, its imperative you book well in advance Its clear on all sites that the accommodation is stand alone and separate to the main house, nobody has ever questioned this before. On your arrival at the property you advised us that you had an extra adult with you. We went out of our way to accommodate and manage the situation as best as possible. Its a mystery to us that you would then leave the property without paying for them. Its also regrettable that the accommodation was left in an awful state. The lesson from this to all travelers is, plan well in advance when it comes to activities and if you find your guest numbers in your group has changed, its advisable to contact your hosts in advance to notify them. Regards Richard and Jane

Take a step back in time to a beautiful cottage garden. Hosts that are interested in their guests. Quiet peaceful serenity with views over Akaroa harbor. A delicious breakfast both continental and cooked made with love by Jane and Richard and served under the umbrella in the courtyard. A swimming pool for hotter days is perfect. 15mins roughly from Akaroa township but a couple of minutes drive to Duchavelle Hotel for dinner if you want to stay close. Do yourself a favor and stay with Jane and Richard you won't regret it.

So disappointed we only had one night here. Jane and Richard are the best of hosts - friendly but not ‘in your face’. The breakfast was excellent! The view takes your breath away. The only small disappointment was no lounge area in our room, but I still sat at the small table and looked out the window at the view for a couple of hours. Would love to return one day.

A group of us stayed at Twin Gullies for four days for a birthday celebration. Jane and Richard are the best hosts you could ask for! From the moment I contacted them via email they were fantastic, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is beautiful with everything you could want and more, and the views are simply breathtaking. The breakfasts were brilliant and you have to try the fruit muffins - they are to die for. We can't wait to go back. If you're looking for the perfect holiday you can't do any better than with Jane and Richard at Twin Gullies. We travel a lot for work and are really lucky that we usually have really good experiences with our accommodation but these guys take it to another level. And the muffins, did I mention the muffins :) Thanks so much to both of you for such a fantastic and memorable week-end and of course your great company. You are one in a million. See you again soon.
