A short trip to the town's waterfront, steps away from the best walking trail overlooking the Sound and welcoming hosts. You can't beat that combination. Margaret is a master chef---and served up the best B&B breakfast we've had. She even provided an impromptu dinner for two tired kayakers! This place provided true Kiwi hospitality.

Sorry about my delayed in responseing , have had my hip replacement and am on fire life's great. It was our pleasure helping make your holiday memorable. Catering for your needs after the big Kayacking day was the least we could do. I expect your working away planning your next holiday. Enjoy Kind wish to you both in New York.

We were in New Zealand celebrating our honeymoon and my wife's 30th birthday. Kippilaw House was the perfect location after the ferry brought us to the South Island. They picked us up at the ferry and dropped us off at the train. Margaret prepared an amazing birthday dinner for my wife's birthday and we had a great time! The dinner...

The house is stunning, our room (downstairs) was big, with a little nook with Fridge & wardrobe, a Huge bathroom with an amazing shower, and our own living room. It is all very nicely built, designed and decorated (and I'm a picky architect!) Breakfast was FANTASTIC. Margaret is a cook, and breakfast definitely is top quality! 2 course breakfast, with...

What a wonderful experience. Bill and Margaret were most gracious and would go out their way to make your stay perfect. The property is beautiful with various fruit trees and assorted fruit plants. The house while only seven years old is styled on a much older property. My room which was on the second floor was really a three room...

Loved everything about our stay, the English charm, wonderful food including afternoon tea on arrival. Cosy beds with electric blanket, everything was immaculate. Lovely walk into Picton through the marina. Bill kindly picked us up from the Port on arrival, and got some fabulous cooking tips from Margaret. Would definitely stay again, thank you

Carole it was fun meeting the four of you and great seeing how you fitted in relaxing in the garden over a drink and nibbles. I hope your official evening went well in Wellington and the trousers stood the test of time. Kippilaw House has been very busy this summer hosting great people from near and far. We so enjoyed arriving from the ferry to find a plate of delicious "afternoon tea" waiting for us! Bill gave us a great suggestion as to the perfect walk (the Snout trail) and Margaret made the most gorgeous breakfast for us. They both had great ideas about special stops on the way to Christchurch to see seals. Our visit was...

Beth it was our pleasure having you both in the house. We pride ourselves in looking after people and being helpful its all part of what we do. Margaret and Bill were very welcoming, and we loved the place. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Kippilaw House would be a great place to stay as a base when you go out on day trips in the surrounding region. We'll definitely be going back there!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Feel relaxed, warm and comfortable at Kippilaw House our guests often mention that they have walked in as guests and left us as friends. We are just a few minutes stroll to the waters edge of the Marlborough Sounds, cafes and various activities. Margaret is a professional chef/caterer of many years standing and loves sharing her recipes and experience in food. Bill is excellent passing on knowledge of the region things to do and see. Originally from the borders of Scotland he spent all his school holidays at Kippilaw Estate where his grandfather was the groom. We also operate a very well stocked deli Trailer at the Marlborough Farmers Market in Blenheim on Sundays where guests are most welcome to enjoy their breakfasts if staying Saturday night with us. We pride ourselves on good southern hospitality and place equal importance on the breakfast and the comfortable beds. Our point of difference is providing freshly sourced food with menus changing daily. Complementary afternoon tea is served at 3pm if you have not arrived this is left covered in your room. We make tasty interesting packed breakfasts for early travellers to take away. ... more   less
