Located an easy and stunning 10-minute walk from the ferry bus terminal, we were blown away by how inviting and cozy Sequoia Lodge was. Originally chosen for the good value on a private double room ($74/night) and the spa tub out back, we found ourselves thrilled with the atmosphere and service and only wished we had more time there. The...

Moldy and dusty rooms in a quite cramped holiday park. At least there was rooms with own toilet. The park was located in the center of the little town so it was easy to find. The staff was nice and helpfull but it's not enough to make the place comfortable.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for one night and we were very impressed. Free shuttle bus to and from the ferry. Welcomed to very friendly staff. The room was next to laundry and it was comfortable. Chocolate pudding at 8pm was very nice. Hostel was very clean. Overall a very good stay.

We stayed one night in a family room and could find nothing to fault about this place. The staff were very friendly and really made an effort to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. In fact, I have rarely encountered such wonderful staff. The woman working there the day we arrived delivered some free chocolate fudge to our room to...

Lovely clean hostel with friendly staff. The room was basic but that we expected. Chocolate pudding in the evening was a nice touch. The WiFi in our was poor but not the biggest issue. Good parking and very close to the ferry.

This is the perfect place if you are looking for basic accomodation. We stayed in the family room, and yes it is basic (as remember its a backpackers) but very clean and tidy - so what more can you ask for. The staff are super friendly and the facilities are great. You won't be disappointed here.

The hostel was very sweet, literally - every day at 8pm they serve free chocolate fudge with vanilla ice cream! The rooms themselves were spacious and clean, the common area was well equipped and comfortable. Only downside was the wifi - while being free, there's no reception of it outside the common area.

When I booked to stay here I was of course fully aware that it was a backpackers but I did expect the private room with an en suite to be a better standard for the money we paid. In hindinsight we should have paid a bit extra and gone to a motel as we thought it was pricey in comparison....

Ideal for what we needed, stayed here 1 night before heading south. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms and facilities clean and tidy. Would defo recommend and will stay here again! Also free chocolate pudding at 8pm and a free shuttle to and from the ferry terminal!

One of our favourite hostels in NZ. Free breakfast, soup and most of all chocolate pudding with ice cream! This became the focal point of our stay! Staff were super friendly, kitchen was good size and well stocked, room was clean and comfortable (few ants but no biggy ) and free Wifi also. Would definitely stay here again!
