Stayed nearby with friends. Came here for a bite and drinks. Extremely limited choice. Beer choice very poor. Food ok and reasonable price. However despite an attempt at a refresh very dated. Living off past glories. But people are much more discerning now. Need to lift game. Also no Wi Fi. What is that about. There are better places

A big effort has been made to improve The Portage. We visited here by boat seeking some shelter in rough weather. It had been closed for improvements and had only been open for 2 days and was obviously still under construction in some areas. Barry was very hospitable and the staff were welcoming and friendly. As the weather didn't improve...

At nearly $300 a night I expect much more. Our room had a stunning view, but everything else was decidedly average. Dated decor, worn carpets, a dark and dingy bathroom, and only two teabags provided (just as well we both like Earl Grey...) We ate from the bar menu for dinner - the fish and chips were really good. The...

Myself and partner stayed at portage, whilst walking the QCT. The area is beautiful and is situated in the keneperu sounds. Reception area and generally meeting building where restaurant ect is , is very modern. The room was a little mix match, wooden but with lime colour and drastic head boards( which were missi half there buttons). The water was...

We arrived late from the Queen Charlotte Track and a little worst for wear. Stefan, the Manager was gracious enough to keep the kitchen open for us, and we were attended to like we were the most distinguished of guests. The service really was superb and the food was immaculate; resulting in us deciding to book in for a further...

We stayed for two nights at Portage while mountain biking the track. The rooms are in need of a lot of upgrading, the bathroom very small with a dirty shower curtain and very poor lighting. We had paid for a room with a view and looked out at scraggy trees blocking everything. The service was OK but when our rooms...

We stayed at Portage for 2 nights on a grab one deal. The views were amazing but the hotel needs to up it's game in other areas. Our room was OK but the bathroom needed up-dating. They obviously want guests to use their expensive restaurant for everything as they don't supply any kitchen facilities except kettle and cups and the...

The resort is set in a beautiful location on Kenepuru Sound and we spent a lovely afternoon on the bar deck watching the sun set with a few beers after a long days walking. The accommodation itself is dated and desperately needs an upgrade to justify the room rate, however it was reasonably comfortable. Our main issue was with the...

I was there for a corporate event. The views from some of the rooms and the Lounge & Dining was fantastic with a view of the Sounds. I would suggest that you check that your room has a view. My room did not have a view and was a bit dark. Maybe all it needs is stronger light bulbs. The...

We stayed at the Peppers Portage Resort for two nights while walking the Queen Charlotte Track. The restaurant and bar were nice, food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. March is getting towards the end of their busy season, there were not many people staying there and they were winding down on staff numbers. The accommodation was...
