Grand Memories Holguin garners appreciation for its immaculate rooms, pools, and beaches with guests commending the hotel's overall cleanliness. The staff's friendliness and diligence contribute to the hotel's exceptional service, even though there are occasional service delays. While the vibrant entertainment scene, including live music and dance parties, is a hit among guests, some seek more peace and quiet. Despite the amenities receiving positive feedback, the Diamond Club upgrade is criticized for not providing sufficient value or benefits. Room comfort is generally praised, yet some guests report problems with humidity and temperature control.

My children and I had a wonderful time at the grand memories resort in Holguin and would definitely stay again! Here are a few highlights and suggestions for the hotel to make our stay even better the next time!
We travelled with Sunwing and the transfer to the hotel was pretty seamless, and although it was long it was at night, which made it only an hour and a half drive the drive back was longer however there was some great views of the countryside and communities on our way to the airport. The check-in was painfully long but once we got to the room, we were happy to see it was clean and welcoming. The set up of this hotel is amazing as rooms are quite close to amenities and the beach! My housekeeper May always greeted me with an Hola and a smile and kept our rooms tidy and after a week many staff members acknowledge and recognized us and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. I also felt extremely safe and was not worried about letting my children hang out at the lobby by themselves or explore.
The entertainment staff tried to motivate people and made sure guests were having fun. They really knew how to make individuals feel recognized and special and were all incredibly personable, positive and great dancers!!
Some improvements I would like to see is greater consistency as sparsity of items varied from day to day and we just had the attitude that you never know what you’re going to get and you get what you get and don’t get upset however, staples, such as bread, eggs, cheese, and fresh vegetables and fruit should always be available and plentiful. I’m still not sure if this is a problem throughout Cuba or with whoever is in charge of purchasing. The day that I was there there were some “big bosses” at the resort, having meetings and talking with other “bosses” from a guest point of you it would’ve been nice to see those bosses behind the bar, in the buffet and reception, and helping with entertainment and activities, if they really wanted to give the impression that they were part of the team. It would also give them an understanding of the troubles that the staff face in trying to make every guest happy.

We had an amazing stay at Grand Memories Holguin form March 11 to March 18, Diamond Club Oceanview, 2 rooms with my husband and 2 daughters. The 2 hr bus ride from the airport was very comfortable in a chartered airconditioned bus. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted with champagne service and personal check in. We have been to Cuba many times and this new resort is definitely one of the nicest we have seen, boasting 5 very clean pools, multiple restaurants, and amazing staff. The Japanese ala carte was a very fun experience. There is mostly chicken & pork served, however we did receive invitations for lobster dinner and lunch on the last day. The beach is beautiful and private, you can take long secluded walks without any other resorts nearby. The spa massage services are excellent with a private pool and sauna. There is nightly entertainment, a disco and a very large main bar that looks out over the resort. The vibe is very relaxing and laid back, with a mature crowd, not a party resort. There were no shortages of beach or pool chairs, towels or bottled water. There were very few mosquitos and flies on this resort compared to all the other resorts we have stayed in Cuba. The buffets and a la cart restaurants were very clean with great service. The 24hr snack bar, served omeletes in the morning, buffet at lunch, pasta, burger & fries in the evening (bring condiments) There were some shortages of cocktail mixes, such as diet coke, pina colada, mojito, but there was an endless supply of rum, beer, red, rose wine from Spain, and the cappucino & Spanish coffees were great. General Manager Sophien, goes out of his way to make every guest feel special. Shout out to bartenders Jose Luis, Maguisleydis and Concierges Marie & Marlena who also made our stay special. We will definitely return to Grand Memories!

This vacation was more then we could have asked for. We have travelled all over the Caribbean paying 2-3x what we did here and have received a lot less. The trip from the airport is 1:45hrs but when you arrive it is well worth it. The check in was pain free with Argelio who greeted us by name all week, the guy is a legend. The rooms are modern and clean with a comfortable king bed. The pools were clean and you never had to save a chair. The beach was also a favourite spot, seaweed was constantly being washed ashore (we were told it was the time of year) but the hard working beach crew worked tirelessly to clear it away and there were plenty of palapa’s and loungers. We enjoyed the food having fresh eggs/omelettes made by the beautiful Yulia. We did the Italian and Japanese a la cartes and they were fantastic. We had amazing service by Yoania, Nathali and the crew at the buffet. They were always smiling and friendly. The resort was very well managed. We have nothing but love and accolades for our Cuban friends that work so hard and made it a wonderful vacation.

Dear Greg, On behalf of the Gran Memories Holguin staff, we want to thank you for taking a few minutes to share your experiences at our resort with the rest of the TripAdvisor community. We are glad that your holidays have been better than you expected. Despite the long way to get to the hotel, the reception did a great job as it always does. That your room has been to your liking, the pools clean and with enough space for our clients as well as the beach. That they have enjoyed the meals both in the buffet restaurant and in the à la carte restaurants. Thank you very much once again for choosing us, for your beautiful comment and for recommending us. A sincere greeting, General Manager Grand Memories Holguin.

This was the worst vacation I’ve ever been on from start to finish we bought the diamond club package at this resort with an oceanfront view we were supposed to be greeted with cocktails in a separate check-in area this never happened for anyone. We were supposed to have a fridge stocked with beer and water every day. This also did not happen when we finally got our room at 5 PM there was no water and no beach towels available. We then asked the front desk for beach towels and water we were told they would be in our room the following morning at 9 AM so we had no towels or safe water for an entire first day. We got one roll of toilet paper per day and we’re forced to scrounge the resort just to use the washroom. The beach was absolutely disgusting. There was 2 feet of seaweed on the beachfront at all times that they attempted to clean up in the middle of the day. The beachfront bar decks were cracked and roped off because they are a straight up hazard. Half of the à la cart restaurants we’re not open so everyone had to use the buffet. There was wait lines every morning just to get into the buffet restaurant to then stand in line for 30 to 45 minutes for eggs or an omelette. The Beachside Grill was not open our entire stay, and did not look like it had been open for a while, so there was only two buffets to get food from both provided you with either rice, pasta, with cut up hotdogs in it, powdered potatoes, fish, or ground up cabbage. The lobby bar and pool bars would always be at least a 10 minute wait per drink. The walking paths throughout the resort were extremely slippery and they would mop the tile stairs both sets at a time which was very dangerous. The worst part of the trip was that I fell on wet tiles in the evening from a fresh mop job, and had to get several stitches in the back of my head. (See attached attached photo) this resulted in a concussion and vomiting. The pool of blood was still not cleaned up the following morning. On the way back out of Cuba our flight was delayed and when we landed back in Toronto our luggage was lost (YYZWG17063 reference number) which is still lost. This was a terrible trip for my fiancé and I and we feel as though we wasted every dollar we spent. I would hope Sunwing can do something to compensate us for this horrendous experience. Last not this resort was rated 4.5 on trip advisor but if you dig deeper you can see the bad reviews the recent ones are glowing reviews with the bad ones pushed down so people don’t see. This seems like fake review are being used to scam people into going to this location.

This place is not worth the money at all, lack of meat, vegetable or fruit. They mainly serve pork for every meal. There was a lack of alcohol and mix as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Entertainment was non-existent. Sometimes we would need to wait hours just for toilet paper. 95% of the staff did not speak English including at the Lobby desk. Only 3 of the ala carte restaurants were open and only 1 per day. You could not pre-book them, you had to go to the Lobby bar the morning of at 9am to book a reservation or you did not get anything. The day excursions were very difficult to book as well as there was not many running. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but this Hotel, I will never go back.

Dear Penny, Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. We regret not having been able to meet your expectations, although we are surprised by what you have stated since the hotel is stocked with various types of meats and sausages, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, sausage, ham and some seafood. In addition, we offer vegetables such as tomato, cabbage, cucumber, string beans. Non-alcoholic drinks there are also several types of soft drinks, pina colada, mate soda, tangerine, lemon. The entertainment team puts on daily shows in various parts of the hotel, during the day and at night. It is true that the staff should improve the English language, but I guarantee that the reception is very well qualified and fluent in that language, even some of them speak fluent French as well. It is true that the à la carte restaurants are not all open because the hotel's occupancy is not at maximum, but 3 are open with varied offers: the Caribbean Taíno, Mondo Italiano and the Japanese Haiku, of which two are open every night in multiple schedules so that more customers can enjoy them. The excursions are reserved through the Travel Agencies for which the hotel has no responsibility on this matter. However, we will take notes of your proposals to continue improving the services. We hope you will give us the opportunity to truly demonstrate the hotel's services on your next visit. A greetings from, General Manager.

Having travelled to Cuba over a dozen times and many other parts of the Caribbean, I had low expectations. I thought the food shortages were exaggerated and that we would have basics for children like Milk; hot dogs fries, burgers. NOPE nothing.
The food put out at the buffet is not edible, a lot of the times its is a platter of mixed items that seem to be left overs from a few days. It is not food safe.
The snack bar offered Ham and cheese sandwich or A mayonnaise sandwich.
The 2 stations (stir fry and pasta) have very long lines for food. a plate of pasta is a 40 minute wait, there was roaches crawling up the wall and the lady uses a dirty cloth between each person to wipe the pan.
It is an absolute horror to watch.
There is no grilled meats available, no eggs, no wine etc… fruit options are pineapple or watermelon.
There is zero condiments; no butter, no jam, no ketchup, no salad dressing (not even oil and vinegar)nothing. I strongly recommend bringing these items to help with your meals.
I also recommend you bring snacks especially when travelling with children as there is nothing to purchase at the hotel or the mall across the street.
Absolutely heartbreaking to watch, the staff have bare minimum to work with.

The positives are the hotel itself and Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. We had what we needed in the rooms; clean towels , toilet paper, toiletries, and bottles of water available.
The beach is nice however it should be cleaned to remove garbage and seaweed.
There is plenty of pool and beach chairs, you dont have to reserve spots which is fantastic.
Staff is helpful and friendly.
entertainment seems fun, and there is a game room for kids to enjoy.

Hopefully things get better and i can update this review.

Despite arriving around one am, the check-in experience was good, especially since the reception desk staff was willing to change our room multiple times until we found one that was mould-free. The buffet restaurant was good. There was a decent variety in the food served with plenty of meat and vegetables but no fish, strangely enough. The beach was great and even though there were piles of seaweeds on the beach daily, a crew heroically cleaned it up every day. Danilo and Oscar of the Entertainment team in particular went above and beyond. Oscar helped me develop my basketball playing skills by practicing daily with me for the majority of my stay. He also devised a workout plan for me to build my biceps, triceps, and chest muscles. Danilo also played basketball with me daily. The resort is lucky to have these two such dedicated people in its employment. Overall the stay at Tesoro Del Atlantico/Grand Memories Holguin was splendid.

Dear Maximilian, Thank you first of all for taking your time to share your opinion on the web, thank you also for choosing us. It is good to know that despite your arrival in the wee hours of the morning, your registration was good and the reception staff helped you find the room you wanted. We are pleased to know that you enjoy the food in our Buffet Restaurant. As well as the beach, which we regret that the sea and the waves throw the algae on the shore, our staff strives to keep it as clean as possible for the enjoyment of our clients. We are glad to know that you felt like friends with our animation staff and we are pleased to know that they helped you with your training plan. Your thanks to Oscar and Danilo will be transmitted. Thank you once again for your visit and for his recommendation, we hope to see you soon. All the best, General Manger Grand Memories Holguin.

I will never come back.

Very unorganized, very cheap managers

Bad food and when the food finishes that is it.

No replacement.

Big line ups before the Buffett

Only one Buffett and lots of guests are waiting

They have lots of guests but not prepared for.

Bad food quality bad beach with lots of sea weeds and rocks

After asking for water 3 times they give it only on the third time and late at night

Even after asking a worker to clean our room and tipping her to clean it we enter our room without the room getting cleaned

After going to low reviewed resorts I had low expectations but this is surprisingly bad.

There is a food shortage but the managers can’t manage the resort at all

Unless you want to be ignored stuck in lines and have a bad vacation I suggest going else where.

If any manager see this work on managing your resort

The hotel was great, the room was as expected, the staff and locals were as normal, very friendly and willing to make the vacation as good as it could be. The beach was lovely and the pools great. However, I have never gone to Cuba expecting the food to be as good as Mexico or other Caribbean locations, but this time it was as low as you could possibly expect. If I ever see pickled cabbage, beetroot or mushrooms again it will be too soon. Reheated rice and pasta for each meal including on one day for breakfast. Hot dogs instead of sausage, limited bacon and for one hour only, French Fries at the snack bar. The food at the Sanctuary was worse than the buffet and the lobster night was almost inedible and I'm sure contributed to my wife and I feeling sick. No eggs, chicken, salad, (except cucumber in everything), no tomatoes and if we saw a potato it was on the day we fought for French Fries. On the last two days, the hotel ran out of fresh milk where a staff member told us it was off. Yet the next day a tea was delivered to our table with lumps of gone off milk! The food was plentiful, but plenty of poor food. Canned fruit was presented as fresh and rather innovatively added to rice, not as a desert but to go with reheated fish or pork. We couldn't console ourselves with a beer in our rooms because there wasn't any, or white or dark rum. The butler was never present and the elevators were hit and miss whether they were working or not.
If there was a supply chain issue, then the locals had overflowing tables of fresh vegetables being sold at local markets. This was an extremely poor service by Grand Memories. I'll not return to Cuba, or Holguin until we are sure the food is of a better standard.
I always like to end on a positive note so that we start and end well and the crap is in the centre, just like a sandwich. The weather was lovely, even the liquid sunshine.

Dear Darryl, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us. We appreciate you highlighting the aspects of your experience that were positive, such as the friendly staff, beautiful beach, and pleasant pools. We are sincerely sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the food quality during your stay. We will be working closely with our culinary team to ensure that our menus are more diverse, featuring fresh and flavorful dishes that cater to a wide range of palates. We will also be increasing the availability of breakfast items, including eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Regarding the lobster night, we have investigated the matter and have taken steps to improve the quality of our lobster dishes. We are confident that this issue will not be repeated in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will be taking steps to ensure that these items are always available in fresh and satisfactory condition. We appreciate your feedback regarding the absence of beer, white rum, and dark rum in the rooms. We will be reviewing our supply chain and inventory management processes to ensure that these beverages are readily available for guest enjoyment. Finally, we acknowledge your feedback regarding the butler service and the occasional malfunctions of the elevators. We will be reviewing our staffing and maintenance procedures to address these issues and ensure that all aspects of our hotel facilities are functioning properly for the convenience of our guests. We hope that you will give us another chance to welcome you back to Grand Memories Holguín in the near future, when you can experience the refreshed and improved culinary offerings that we are striving to provide. Was at the resort Feb 29- March 7. All in all we had a really nice stay.

Room: Nice & clean. Comfortable beds. Good shower water pressure and lots of hot water. There is a door that separates the toilet room from the shower and sink however there is no door separating the shower room from the rest of the room. The shower faces the front door so if you are letting someone in, they will have full view of whomever is in the shower. Very odd.
Pools: Nice and clean.
Beach: Also clean. Beach sand is nice but first 8 feet getting into the water, it’s all broken shells and some rocks so painful getting in. Once you’re in, watch out for random shelly/rocky patches. Beach shoes would be a good idea but we didn’t have any and got by.

Food: variety isn’t as vast as other Cuban resorts but there was always something that I liked. Even the 3 à la carte restaurants were decent (as long as you keep in mind that you are not getting authentic Italian or Asian cuisine).
If you want condiments, you should pack some (such as salt, pepper, hot sauce, ketchup, syrop for pancakes…)
I didn’t feel that there was any added value to the Diamond Club.
Drinks: was not very consistent as to what was available but it was fine, there was always something that suited us.
Although the Cubans can only exchange CAD $ bills, you can tip them with loonies and toonies. When they accumulate enough coins they will go around asking to exchange them for bills (but bills must be pristine - no creases or rips).

The biggest pain was the distance from/to airport. It took us over 2 hours to get to the hotel and 1h45 on our way back to the airport. This is the only hotel in the area (Antilla) but there are 19 others that are being built plus a new airport. Only once this new airport is up will I consider coming back to the area.
