The AC Hotel Washington DC Downtown is applauded for its spacious, modern rooms and prime location near DC's attractions, according to guests. While the rooms and hotel receive high marks for cleanliness, some travelers have noted issues with views and housekeeping service. The atmosphere is described as stylish, with a special nod to the inviting lobby and holiday decorations.
Guests commend the staff's friendliness and professionalism, but warn of occasional service delays. Amenities are well-regarded, though bedding comfort and breakfast options could be enhanced.

Check in/check out was very efficient, the room was very nice, lobby was nice but we couldn’t find a bathroom on the first floor level. We loved the shower in our bathroom, has the overhead rain shower head and a handheld sprayer. Beds were very comfortable. Television operated with ease. Internet was ok. At most Marriott chains when you login there is an option for high-speed option at no cost If you are platinum elite, but this was not offered. So we opted for the regular speed and found it was not adequate for many functions. The valet greeted us at arrival outside and directed us to where we needed to park. Paying for the valet parking is separate and not included in the hotel bill, cost was $60. There is no option for self parking. There is no free breakfast, a continental breakfast is available for $18.00 per person. It was explained to us that there was no free breakfast at this Marriott hotel, because it was in the convention center area. Bon Voy Elite members could get $10 credit towards food or 500 points. When riding in the elevator with fellow guests it’s difficult because every floor requires another touch of your key and once the elevator passed our floor while the guest operating was attempting to get our room in the board, we all laughed (but we weren’t happy as we were in a rush).

The service at this AC hotel has been spectacular. Guran, who works at the front desk has been extremely professional and accommodating. He has gone above and beyond to make sure our room was to our liking and has taken the time to give suggestions on things to do in dc. He and his front desk staff have been kind and welcoming, which has made this stay stress free!

I booked this hotel through HotelTonight, and I truly believe that paying a bit extra—$30 or $40—for a quality hotel like this one is worth it for the memorable experience. The hotel is clean, smells fresh throughout, and has friendly staff along with a nice dining area. The location is excellent, too. The gym is small but well-equipped and very clean. One of the best parts was that I had mistakenly booked only one night at a great rate. When I asked the front desk if they could extend my stay for a similar price, they graciously agreed as a courtesy to their guests. They even offered a slightly lower rate than what I had paid through HotelTonight. I highly recommend this hotel if it fits within your budget!

We have stayed 2 nights in room-1205 spacious although with little storage space beyond a rack. Improveable. Our room had views of the interior area and other buildings. Very quiet and well soundproofed. The bathroom is large with huge shower tray and all furniture clean and well maintained.
Both the bed and the pillows can be improved, yet we have been able to rest. Breakfast (coming from the NYC RIU) leaves much to be desired. The first day was Saturday and many trays were empty with the juice bottles worn out. A single woman to replenish the service who by the way, could also be kinder. You can have breakfast here but nothing comparable to a buffet from the same chain at least in Europe.
A few blocks away you have a subway station, directly to Union Square station. However, if I came back, I would try to stay closer to the tourist attractions. The best is the Happy Hour they offer every afternoon (4-7pm) with the best prices we have seen in hotels. We've actually had dinner here for two days. The only thing that during those hours, the bar fills up and again 1 person to attend everything, so on the first day we waited 50' until dinner arrived (which the bartender apologized several times).

Overall, our stay was not satisfactory. We had booked two rooms and on our second day our rooms were left unclean and neglected by housekeeping, despite the fact that’s we had asked for housekeeping every day. We then called them to ask if we could have someone up to clean it but they said it was too late and could only send up fresh towels. Then the following day we came to the hotel at 5 PM, only to find that our rooms were still being cleaned.
We also ordered some clothes from aritzia which got delivered to the hotel a couple days before we arrived. On the first day we asked if the package had been arrived and they said no so we tried again on our third day and showed them proof. We then met the GM who checked the CCTV cameras to check if it was delivered. They called us and said they found the package in the building itself. It’s unacceptable how long it took to receive a simple package of clothes.
On a side note, the walls are extremely thin so you can hear non stop footsteps and noises at night. The water pressure is really low and our ac stoped working for two days but was quickly fixed.

Arrived at the hotel to see I was given a room on the lowest floor possible so understandably, did not expect a good view. Boy was the an understatement. My view was basically facing a dark inner courtyard (if you can even call 50x50 ft of AstroTurf a "courtyard"). Many rooms face this small courtyard but my room was at ground level with the astroturf, tightly surrounded by the rest of the hotel and another building meaning absolutely no sunlight comes through your window. But what light you do get is from the amazing long fluorescent bulbs from the building next door shining straight into your room at night.
Called to see if there was a room move as I was unhappy with the view and was informed they were sold out. Understandably again, as it was a busy weekend, I asked for them to arrange a room move the next day and was told it should be possible but I would need to come to the front desk to inquire tomorrow. I requested they note on my reservation I wanted a room move and if someone could reach out to me. Nobody ever did. Since it was only a 3 night stay, it did not make sense to pursue it further after two nights. Not even a follow up at checkout.
In other hotels, front desk staff are usually able to block out a room the next day, estimate a rough time for the new room to be cleaned and ready, inform you to be ready to move at that time or have luggage packed so staff can move it. Putting the onus on the guest to potentially get a room move but require them to come to the front desk in the middle of their day, is poor effort.
In all fairness, the room was clean. Staff seemed pleasant. So if you absolutely have to stay here, specifically ask to not be placed in these inner "courtyard facing" rooms unless you want that prison yard view.

What a find! My daughter and I recently stayed here during a trip to visit colleges in the area, and we were impressed at every level. Our room was spacious, sleek, and impeccably clean, with super comfortable beds and pillows (though the ridiculously thin duvet made for a bit of a chilly sleep - wish they had actual blankets or heavier duvets). The lobby is beautiful, with plenty of spaces to relax as well as a nice selection of food and drink offerings (the nightly happy hour is a great deal). And you really can’t beat the location - walkable to Georgetown as well as all the big DC attractions. But above all, the thing that really stood out to us was the genuine kindness and friendliness of everyone who works there. We were treated like absolute royalty at every step of our all-too-brief stay by a team of employees who went out of their way to make sure we were happy and well taken care of. I will absolutely stay here the next time I’m in DC.

We chose this hotel due to it's location to the sites and Georgetown. The hotel was clean and had a nice bar. When we got there, we were told that happy hour was until 7pm. So, we dropped out bags off in the room and went downstairs to enjoy some apps and drinks for happy hour. When I got the bill, there was no happy hour pricing - when I asked, she side the only happy hour item was a local beer that was $2 off. No discounts on food. It was a disappointment - Ive been tlots of hotels that have happy hour and this by far was the most disappointing. note to front desk - don't bother highlighting happy hour for $2 off 1 type of beer. Now, the apps were delicious and not priced too crazy. The room itself was average size. Wood floors and spacious bathroom. The water pressure was terrible - and one night, the water would only get lukewarm. So no hot shower that evening. Our room was not cleaned after the first night. We came back to the room after a long day and had to call the front desk to get fresh towels. The next day, I asked the front desk to ensure the room was cleaned. He was surprised it hadn't been cleaned and was apologetic. Valet parking is $55 USD per day. Overall a decent hotel in a good location.

I travel often to DC for business and I have become completely hooked to the AC Downtown. One of the reasons that I stay is because it’s close to work. However, the main reason is the customer service. I’m always warmly greeted and they go above and beyond to make sure that I am well accommodated. I especially appreciate Jerome and Shakeda! Jerome has such a wonderful personality and I am guaranteed a smile/laugh when I check in. That goes along way especially after a lengthy flight. And I been to this hotel at least twice this month and I seemingly always get Shakeda who makes sure that my room is ready and ensure that I have everything I need. Additionally, the food is great! The wings and bread pudding is my favorite. The doorman are also fantastic. If I ever need a cab, they have been extremely helpful. I am also guaranteed a warm greeting from them. I can go on and on. Bottom line l, I love Marriott properties and I am completely sold on the AC especially the AC Downtown DC. Looking forward to my warm greetings from Jerome and Shakeda!

Our stay at AC Hotel was fantastic. We were here for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, very close to the Farragut North Metro station (~5-6 minute walk), as well as to the White House, National Mall etc. This hotel is also located in a rather office-heavy area so it was very quiet on the weekend when we visited, which was a plus after being in crowded touristy areas. The lobby is small, but has everything you need, ample seating to wait for your Uber pickup, lots of seating the cafe area, and clean restrooms downstairs.
We asked for housekeeping on all the days we were there and the cleaning was immaculate.
Last but not least, Cortez was a great help. He was friendly and funny and recommended that our family visit the International Spy Museum which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. This was a great stay and we'll be back again the next time we are in the city.

Please don’t quote me exactly on this because there may be some extra steps, but there is a metro station very close to the hotel (Dupont Circle Station). The subway should be able to take you from Dulles to downtown DC with no fewer than a few transfers or so. Dulles is a fine airport to fly into, a bit further than Washington National Airport but not too far. Was the subway what you were thinking of utilizing?
Hopefully that helps! Others will chime in with more detail I’m sure!
There are more places to choose from in the Washington DC area.
