I spent four nights at WIlliam Lewis House during a work/ leisure trip to Washington having booked it at the last minute and it far exceeded my expectations. The location is great, the room beautiful and spacious, and the breakfasts healthy and delicious. As other reviewers have noted, the owner can be elusive. I only saw him briefly one evening,...

I have stayed here many times over the years and find the quirkiness of William Lewis House to be among its attractions. Rooms are well appointed and beds are very comfortable. Dave, the host, is also an educator so is not around most daytime hours but the property is well-managed and the large communal dining table is the breakfast meeting...

We stayed here a few years back and it was OK so thought we would do so again. Big mistake. This poor host is BURNED OUT. The room has binder full of rules, big letter demands that guest read EVERYTHING before asking any questions, and charges for just about anything that irritates the host. In a two day stay, we...

I'm a Bed and Breakfast snob and this is the best one I've ever stayed at! Seriously. When choosing a B&B over a corporate hotel, I look for a unique and personal experience. I don't want some cookie cutter room, I want a home away from home. A great B&B has subtle little extras that make all the difference. This...

OK - the house was beautiful. But the owner was out when I checked-in and no body was showing me around - strange B&B experience ... I had to find my room on my own. The room was nicely decorated, but next to the bathroom (rather noisy; I saw only one bathroom in the building). I am not sure if...

We really enjoyed our stay here. Dave was a really friendly host and gave great recommendations on where to eat in the area. Breakfasts were great and the happy hour on Saturday evening was wonderful, with refreshing "Cape Cod's" and nibbles. We really loved just sitting around the breakfast table chatting to the other guests and hearing about their travel...

I got here at 11 in the night. They don't have 24 hour check in, so they leave a key in a lockbox. Its also a bit of a treasure hunt to find your way to your room going through multiple locked doors and to the house next door, but in the end I found it without problems. My queen...

Excellent accommodations near metro & major attractions. Five-minute walk to excellent eateries, Whole Foods. Five minutes more & you are at Dupont Cirlce or Phillips Collection Museum. Great breakfast & evening snacks. This lodging is actually 2 historic brownstones located side by side in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Beautiful deck for morning coffee or evening cigar. Clean bathroom, comfy bed,...

What if I give you the fantastic review you've earned...and then can't get a room next time I want one? But oh, what a wonderful place to stay. In a lifetime of traveling, this is my favorite. Fabulously restored 3-story homes (2 side by side) with antiques and accoutrements to match, beautiful city garden, friendly, easily reached from the Metro...

I need not rave further on how beautful the William Lewis House is; the hosts really spared no expense on making the guests feel at home. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and furnished such that it seemed we were staying in someone's bedroom. I liked how much thought was given to the little details, such as how each guestroom has...
