The Holiday Inn Washington-Central/White House is often commended for its prime location, within easy reach of local attractions and dining options, making it a hub for travelers. Guests consistently note the hotel's cleanliness and the congeniality of the staff, though there are occasional mentions of service hiccups.
While the atmosphere is typically described as comfortably modern, making it suitable for various types of visits, the value proposition is somewhat marred by high parking fees. The amenities and rooms meet guests' expectations in terms of cleanliness and space, despite occasional noise and maintenance issues.

I got upgraded to a better room. The staff is supportive. Restaurants are within walking distance and I was able to walk to my office at Farragut Square. I always stay here when I visit DC whether personal or business.

Ambria, at the front desk was continually friendly, helpful, courteous & professional. The hotel was clean & well-located. We were able to walk to many of the D.C. landmarks. It was also convenient to a variety of restaurants. There was a Johnny Rockets restaurant within the hotel. A very nice breakfast buffet was offered every morning for a reasonable added price. Our room was clean & comfortable. We appreciated having a coffee maker (well-stocked), a safe, plentiful towels, an ironing board & iron. The shower was strong & hot with good quality bath supplies. The hotel provided a well-stocked gift shop, a gym, a comfortable sitting area in the lobby & computers & printer for guest use. We were very pleased with our stay.

Very nice and spacious rooms, nice open view. We would appreciate less disposals and more reusable cups and glasses in the room. Staff were friendly, location perfect for our holiday trip. Breakfast could be more balanced and healthier. Breakfast organization could have been better; no cutlery, no juices or water, empty coffee thermos. After 1 breakfast we preferred buying better quality stuff at the nearby supermarket

My stay at Holiday Inn Express in Washington was overall pleasant. The hotel boasts a convenient location, within walking distance from the White House, making it ideal for tourists. The premises were well maintained, and my room was clean upon arrival. However, the cost of parking was rather pricey, which added an unexpected expense to my stay.
One notable downside was the thin walls in the rooms, which allowed noise from neighboring guests to be easily heard. This lack of sound insulation affected the overall tranquility of my stay and disrupted at times.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and the amenities provided were satisfactory. The breakfast offered a variety of options to start the day.
In conclusion, Holiday Inn Express in Washington offers a convenient and comfortable stay for travelers, especially those interested in exploring the nearby attractions. However, improvements in soundproofing and parking affordability would enhance the overall guest experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights with family. Multiple room issues. Door off hinges in bathroom, broken toilet seat, clogged tub, complimentary water in room was open and 1/4 drank already by prior guests I’m assuming. Engineering called to fix door, showed up, left without saying anything to us. 20 minutes later we had to call front desk to ask where he went and was told “he can’t fix door, we can change your room”. That’s fine, but why did he just leave without telling us and how long would it have been if we didn’t reach out to desk? Everyday we left a door not disturb sign on door, we did not want housekeeping, yet everyday when we returned our A/C was turned off and room was over 75 degrees. My son has asthma and needs room cool, thats why we purposely left it on. Why was housekeeping in our room with a do not disturb sign on door? Last morning there, we were getting dressed to leave (do not disturb on door) and housekeeping walked in…no knocking, no announcement that they were entering. Unacceptable. One redeeming quality of stay….Jonathan at front desk took responsibility and accountability for the shortcoming of housekeeping/engineering and made good on the multiple issues we encountered. Disappointed.

We needed to visit Washington during the UK Schools Summer Holidays and wanted a hotel near the centre of Washington, in order to visit a friend who had a serious health condition, which was comfortable and was not going to cost us an arm and a leg.The Holiday Inn was ideal, being in a quiet area about 10 minutes walk from a Subway Station.
The rooms were of a good size, comfortable, clean, quiet and the air conditioning was very effective.
There is a small fitness gym and the swimming pool on the roof was a real bonus, being clean with towels supplied and there was a member of staff present. We also appreciated the supply of chilled water and free coffee in Reception.
Service was excellent, Reception staff were welcoming and efficient and happy to help with any questions while housekeeping staff were happy to work around our busy schedule

The housekeeping staff were amazing: they came by early every day, but waited until later in the day if we were still in the room; they remade the bed, emptied the trash, provided clean towels and restocked the toiletries each day. My only issue was the restaurant. I eat vegan meal or snack options; however, the menu items I ordered (two items on different days) were out. Unfortunately, in both instances, the absence or unavailability of these items only became known after I paid for them. Thankfully, the staff/management was courteous: each time, I was fully refunded, and attempts were made to make up for their difficulty accommodating me. Also, breakfast was not ideal; my husband does not follow a vegan diet and he will settle for a subpar breakfast, but even he passed on what was served here. If you are even slightly picky, have breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants. It might even be a good idea for you to find restaurants outside of the hotel for all your meals.

Not a fancy 5-star hotel, but just right for the casual traveler. Staff are very professional and friendly, rooms are comfortable, quiet and CLEAN; beds have 2 soft and 2 firm pillows each. Hotel has a small but well equipped exercise room, a relaxing outdoor pool on the roof with plenty of chairs, loungers and beach towels--we appreciated the ice cold bottled water provided no charge. Parking lot is small but convenient, allows in-and-out daily parking at a reasonable rate. Johnny Rockets in house restaurant offers casual menu: burgers/fries/wings, shakes; will deliver to your room, closes Fri/Sat at 11pm, Sun--Thurs 10pm. Good location.

A good Holiday Inn. Well placed for a quick Uber into the centre to see all the main sites. Reception staff very friendly and welcoming and one very helpful member of staff recommended sites to visit and travel options.
There is a small market of snacks and drinks at fairly reasonable prices. There is a WholeFoods shop just around the corner that cooks and sells enormous pizzas for $12 which was the cheapest place we found to eat as a family. Washington is crazy expensive. The diner attached to the hotel does a reasonable breakfast. Staff serving on our first two days there were awfully rude but after that the new shift came on with really lovely staff who couldn’t for enough for us on our last few days and the food was tasty.
Disappointing the pool wasn’t open it would have been lovely to go for a dip.
Housekeeping staff friendly and helpful. Although make sure you have a DND sign on your door they come in from 8am!
The only gripe I would have with this hotel is the loud slamming doors in each hotel room. No such thing as a soft closure. So be prepared for disturbances late at night and early morning as other guests come and go.

Yes, secure self parking in a garage under the hotel. Check in at the front desk for access.
Parking is available at a charge of $45 per night plus DC taxes for a total of $53.10 per night.
Unfortunately, the one reliable service went out of business last month. From Dulles, we now recommend a car hire service such as Uber or Lyft, pr a taxi which can be found on the lower level near baggage claim.
