Nestled in a prime location near Georgetown, the Park Hyatt Washington D.C. has been commended by guests for its pristine cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, blending modern and classic touches. While the rooms are generally celebrated for their comfort, a few guests have pointed out issues with decor and maintenance. Despite the luxurious amenities that many find impressive, some visitors feel the hotel falls short in providing value, referencing the steep prices for services and parking. Additionally, service quality at the hotel receives mixed reviews, with experiences ranging from professional to below expectations.

The Park Hyatt is located on hotel row on M street bordering downtown and Georgetown. We decided to stay here because the rate was pretty good and we were able to book through American express Fine Resorts and Hotels and take advantage of their benefits.

The original room that we were given that had 2 double beds was actually quite small. Their standard room is not very large at all and their mini bar is sensored. We had 3 adults and one baby but after seeing how small the room was we elected to have the upgraded King room instead which was 200 square feet larger.

Nichole from the front desk was very sweet and very helpful during the check in process.

The king room is quite nice with a nice separate sitting area, a huge soaking tub, and also a nice large shower that has a rainshower option. Amenities are my favorite Le Labo and of course there is also an in room nespresso machine.

The hotel is very sleek, compared to the Fairmont across the street, it lacks the large open space foyer/lobby and is very minimilistic in style. The robes in the room and slippers were comfy and we took advantage of the complimentary shoe shine.

Location was good, easy walk to Foggy Bottom in about 12 minutes. We also requested a separate fridge that they brought up so we could put my daughter's milk and other perishables.

Dinner at Blue Duck Tavern was excellent (food was fantastic but service was not good at all)

Breakfast was also good although their breakfast buffet does not have an omelet station, just a more basic fare. Half of us elected for the buffet and I elected to order ala cart and had the lump crab cake which was divine.

Overall, I would recommend the hotel for a couple's night out, I don't know if it's so great for families since our original room was pretty small.

I also think that while the food at Blue Duck Tavern was excellent, the service really needs to be re-examined.

I stayed here for three nights and found the bed and room very comfortable. I ordered room service twice, and it was good (not great). The staff were very polite and service oriented. Suggestions for hotel management: (1)Get rid of those auto-detection systems in the minibar - they are inaccurate and only cause customer disssatisfaction. I did get charged $10 for some cashews I did not consume, which is annoying. I told the receptionist what I consumed when I checked out and she verbally confirmed and handed me the invoice (which I didn't look at until I got home) and there were additional charges she didn't mention. Now I have to contact them again for my $10. (2) The room was way too hot. I was on the 9th floor facing to the condos in the back and the sun heated the room and AC was not available. I was roasting in that room. It was awful. I closed the blinds during the day to help with this, but housekeeping just opened them. I did not allow housekeeping to come in my room again after that. Annoying. I am quite sure that room was 70 degrees, not 67 degrees like the thermostat said. It would really help to allow the windows to open a small amount. (3) The room is starting to show too much wear/tear that needs attention. The carpet was buckling, the marks on the walls, the sloppy finishing on the molding at the corners. (4) The TV software is terrible. Those systems are outdated. Get rid of that stuff.

Stay Report - 12/21-12/22

Location: Depending on what you're doing in DC the location can be good or bad.  All my activities this trip were in Georgetown so I loved where the hotel was located.  I could walk a few blocks to some amazing restaurants and bars and the area around the hotel was nice and quiet.  If you want to be able to get to the Metro easily or go to the typical touristy sights it might not be the best so YMMW.

Hotel: Pretty nondescript outside but inside a lot of modern luxury.  A very attractive lobby which was nicely done up for Christmas.  There's also a funky lobby bar with some excellent liquor selections and of course the attached Blue Duck Tavern for meals.  No issues waiting on elevators and they require keycard access which is good.

Check In: I had booked my reservation through Amex FHR which guarantees an early check in of noon.  I arrived at 12:15 PM and was checked right into a junior suite which was an upgrade over my booked king room.  Front desk staff were absolutely wonderful.  Friendly and helpful, wanting to offer me whatever I needed (newspapers, extra water etc.), making sure I got all my stated benefits.  I was very impressed.

Room: Speaking of impressed, my junior suite was excellent.  Very nice living room for lounging, amazing bathroom with an incredible shower, nice bedroom, functioning wifi and no noise issues.  Everything I could ask for frankly.

Dining: I used my $100 dining credit at Blue Duck Tavern.  Annoyingly on weekends the brunch menu runs until 2:30 PM and it's the same menu as breakfast and it's very breakfast heavy.  Service I'm sorry to say was absolutely awful.  Impossible to get refills, wrong orders, indifferent attitude.  The food was very good but it was not a fun dining experience.

Overall I liked the hotel a lot and would be happy to return.  Hopefully the dining issues were just a blip.

Bellman and manager Ruby were very nice and professional- they were the only lights in an otherwise disappointing (and disgusting) stay. Room was dirty (dirty carpet, bugs and badly smudged mirrors). Given raw IRD food and a burger that smelled like fish. Hygiene suggestion: have your cooks wash their hands after handling fish. Worst of all, this hotel thinks it is acceptable to send a crib up to your room with a flat king sheet wrapped around the mattress! This hotel should read safe sleep guidelines for infants- at healthychildren.org or any guidelines from the APA. SIDS is a real thing and ignorance from a hospitality establishment is ridiculous and a huge liability. This is supposed to be Park Hyatt, not a Motel 6, which is exactly what this stay felt like. Clean your rooms and your hands, and play your part in not endangering babies.

The Park Hyatt Washington DC obviously has a lot to live up to with the Park Hyatt moniker, but it passes the test with flying colors. Blue Duck Tavern obviously is highly regarded among locals and provides a quality daily breakfast and is a great spot for drinks, lunch, or dinner. The hotel is not brand-new, but is well maintained and does not show its age - in the COVID era where so many hotels have chosen to take the easy way out and cut basic service, the daily housekeeping and turndown service which should be a 5-star standard is much appreciated.

Furthermore, the location is in a very nice part of Georgetown close to George Washington University which might not be the city center, but is well located to public transport and key areas you would want to go. Would definitely recommend.

This was my third time staying at the hotel. Checking in/out was easy and staff was pleasant. In my room there was a nice welcome back basket & note, which was a nice touch. The Park Junior Suite is a good size room, and I always wish I had more time to enjoy it. The beds are comfortable and the walls thick enough that I never hear any of the other guests, ensuring peaceful nights. The restaurant offers a good variety of food and drinks. I also ordered room service and breakfast came at the time I requested it and it was exactly what I ordered. I always enjoy my stay there and look forward to going back the next time I am in DC.

For our four night visit, our family of three stayed at the Park Hyatt Washington and overall had an excellent stay.

Within walking distance to Georgetown and Foggy Bottom, the Park Hyatt was located in a convenient residential area with plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and transit options in walking distance.

We had booked our room via a travel agent to benefit from a confirmed upgrade to a Junior Suite, as well as breakfast and dining credits.

Our room was comfortable, with plenty of space for our toddler to roam, while also providing some separation between the bedroom and living space. While we would have preferred being able to close off the bedroom, this worked well for our family and was conducive to nap time and evening routines.

A highlight of the room was the bathroom, with an enormous shower and soaking tub, as well as plenty of storage. Housekeeping was offered daily, and while the hotel is no longer new, everything was in good condition.

Breakfast at the Blue Duck tavern was excellent, with friendly and quick service. While we were unable to dine at the restaurant, we did find the tea selection, cocktails, and deserts to be a highlight.

The pool and gym were located at the far end of the hotel, and compared with other high end hotels, felt a step down from the rest. Perhaps due to the size of the pool or general decor, it didn't feel as luxurious as you might expect. That said, the gym had two Peloton bikes which were great appreciated.

All in all, our family had a pleasant stay and would definitely consider the Park Hyatt Washington for future visits.

We had a wonderful long weekend at the Park Hyatt. The inside of the hotel is beautiful and the food + beverage options are great. Our room was huge and very comfortable. We were travelling with pets and found dog bowls and beds in our room when we arrived, which we really appreciated!

VERY clean hotel, courteous staff, comfortable beds, valet parking, close to restaurants, easy to grab Ubers or taxis. This was a great family hotel with an indoor heated pool and away from the city ruckus, but also luxurious for couples only (our next trip!) I’m someone who gets anxious when traveling and will spend more to find a clean, comfortable stay. This was worth the extra money to get a clean hotel room in return and courteous staff who made us feel safe and comfortable. A+++

Very expensive room rates and outrageously priced food. We did not have a top sheet on our bed and the view was of a air filter. The room is designed in the “modern” style which means you can’t figure out how to turn on/off the lights, the shower requires a PHD to use. Food was good but priced very high, for example: the apple pie desert was $22. It was good but not that good. Pandemic management is good and the staff aims to please. If you can’t find a room at equal price you should stay here but lower your expectations
