Sophisticated, natural, and welcoming, the recently renovated Hotel Madera has been a beloved neighborhood hangout since it opened over a decade ago. Thanks to its thoughtful, sophisticated design and warm staff, the hotel evokes a sense of serenity, privacy, and ease, ushering in guests as members of the family. In our intimate living room and Firefly restaurant, you might strike up effortless conversation with longtime Dupont Circle residents, or creative types with an artful eye who are happy to swap stories over a friendly cocktail. Our centrally located boutique hotel offers elegant meeting and event spaces for smaller groups, as well as spacious guest rooms and suites that feature special amenities like roomy balconies. No matter your reason for visiting our downtown hideaway, we are thrilled to let you in one of DC’s best-kept secrets.

I stayed here over the summer. I rarely write hotel reviews but this hotel is not what it appears to be. It's like putting lipstick on an old, rickety pig. When we stayed in the summer, the air conditioning was abysmal and the front desk staff was incompetent and had a bad attitude to boot. Not a pleasant stay, not worth the money at all, and would never stay here again.

Great front desk service. Ekera was so helpful and welcoming! Was so great answering all of our questions. Hotel is dog friendly, and all staff were great with accommodating dogs. Like giving us bowls for the dogs to eat and drink out of.

Our stay at Hotel Madera was perfect. Great location with bars, restaurants and subway close by. The bar downstairs has friendly and knowledgeable staff. Eskesar at reception was a great help and went above and beyond her call of duty. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone stating in Washington DC

The hotel is ok. However, they have hidden charges, such as a mandatory“amenities fee”, which disguise the room rate they publish in the Internet and therefore mislead client searches. It is clearly not an honest business practice. There is no reason why they do not include this “amenities fee” in their room rate. Apart from that, rooms are fine and personnel very nice. Unfortunately I shall not be back as I do not encourage dishonest business practices.

Lovely room (King studio with balcony) on a high floor, spacious, comfortable and very comfortable. Modern and clean bathroom with good amenities. Had to extend our stay by one night and Eskedar at the front desk was super helpful and caring. Kudos! Very convenient location, close the DuPont circle, and just 15-20 away from World Bank and the White House. Will come back.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Madera for a one night getaway for a friend’s birthday. I visit DC often and was not familiar with Madera - so glad I took the chance. Right off DuPont, some of the largest rooms in the city, private balcony, great restaurant called Firefly off the lobby (try it!), this is a great alternative to soulless chain hotels. But it still has all of the modern amenities you need. Eskedar at the front desk deserves some sort of hospitality award. I told her it was my friends birthday. We get a knock on the door to find chilled wine, a bunch of snacks, and a personal note wishing happy birthday! Blown away. Will stay again!

Dear Brian F, Thank you for your wonderful review of our hotel. We're delighted to hear you had a great stay with us and very happy Eskedar went above and beyond to celebrate your friend's birthday, we work hard to create memories. We indeed have one of the largest rooms in the city with private balcony and a local favorite neighborhood restaurant FIREFLY. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back as our guest in the future! Regards

We were visiting DC as “tourists” since we had an exchange student with us. With scheduled tours and site-seeing planned. We booked this based on excellent reviews, price and proximity. The Hotel didn’t disappoint and in fact far, far exceeded our expectations. From the first interaction with Eakedar, where she was able to get us into our rooms ahead of schedule, offer us water as we just got in from a drive, and provide us with the start of a fantastic stay. She sent up some treats for the kids on top of that. Valet parking was reasonably priced and easy to access though we just parked and used the metro to get around. The Hotel is about one block from DuPont Circle and we used it instead of trying to drive and park. We were in NYC two weeks ago and let’s just say the Hotel Madera was the exact opposite of our NYC hotel. I will be going back to the Hotel Madera and not the Hotel we stayed in NYC (shame on you Richard Branson). The rooms were bright, airy and clean and the showers were great. All renovated modern touches.
