The first week of December, 2016 found me visiting Washington, D.C. and needing a place to stay. I decided to try a hotel without a 'big' chain name, and discovered that The Fairfax at Embassy Row was an awesome choice! From a cheerful by the hotel valet to the warm welcome I received from the courteous and caring front desk...

I just stayed at the fairfax 3 days ago for a long weekend friday-sunday... It was a genuine unexpected pleasant surprise. .. I last stayed at this location 20 years ago when it was The Ritz-Carlton Washington DC back then. I loved the building's history (The Bush family and The Gore family lived here as their DC residence) and the...

We stayed here for 4 nights. Nice hotel. Staff was very friendly. We had a king size room. It and the bathroom were very spacious. We were on the 5th floor. There are 2 sets of elevators for use. We were provided with one complimentary breakfast ticket per day. The breakfast was very good with a nice variety. Walking distance...

Just the best stay, comfortably appointed rooms, really comfy bed, fabulous staff (ALL of them!) - absolutely the best stay! My only wish is that Fairfax off rooms service from the restaurant. I Totally recommend!

Small federal style hotel. Nicely done and appointed without the pretense. Rooms are small but appropriate. The location is great and its near public transport and right on Embassy Row...but still in a quiet part of town. Its not in the heart of DC, but a great spot to explore around.

This hotel was very comfortable for our 4 day stay over the American Thanksgiving weekend. The location was great and we walked to the mall and to Georgetown very easily and necessities like a pharmacy and a Starbucks were close by. I love old hotels like this. Being thanksgiving DC was empty so we got a VERY good rate. If...

We recently stayed here while visiting family in the Embassy Row neighborhood. This historic property is in keeping with properties in the area and it suited us more than the chain hotels around the corner. It is well situated for anyone who is interested in viewing the beautiful embassies in the area. There are good restaurants in the area. The...

This is a lovely old hotel, full of history. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and the bathrooms are reasonably well-updated. The problems all come down to a lack of attention to detail. I'm allergic to feathers and noted that on the reservation. The hotel had already defeathered the room when we arrived. Excellent - most hotels wait to do...

This hotel is in my view one of the prettiest and friendliest hotels in Washington DC. The location is just great : barely two minutes walk from Dupont Circle, situated bang in the middle of Embassy Row, with plenty of dining and shopping options well within walking distance, And the hotel is uncommonly rich in history, including that it was...

I've been driving and walking past the Fairfax for more than 25 years, always vaguely aware of its historic ups and downs. Finally I have a chance to stay here, and I can't say enough about what a surprisingly charming and well-appointed hotel it is. I took the DC Metro here--barely a 5-minute walk from the Dupont Circle station, passing...
