We stayed at this hotel when it was the Savoy suites for 5 nights and had a great time.

We checked in around 5 in the afternoon on Christmas day and it was very quick without any delay. As it was Christmas day we were concerned that nothing would be open. Sira on the front desk recommended Old Europe which was the only restaurant open along Wisconsin Avenue. Old Europe was happy to accommodate two weary travellers. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of Zweibel steak, and was served in a traditional and authentic German surrounding with lovely hospitable staff.

Our room was very commodious with plenty of storage space. The bed was gigantic and very comfy. In addition the room was kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping team.

Although we did not take advantage of the Twist restaurant, the in room restaurant menu looked very appetising and was reasonable priced.

We did make the most of the complimentary shuttle service. Our driver’s Anthony and mahsood were lovely chaps and were happy to recommend places of interest to visit. We made sure we had their number so that we could arrange a pick up once we had finished our sightseeing. Our daily drop off stop was Woodley Park metro station which was a few minutes drive from the hotel. We found the metro station easy to use and it was very efficient. We paid for an all-day metro pass which covered all zones and cost $14.
Woodley Park has a good array of bars and restaurants on offer. Whilst we waited for our shuttle pick up we ventured into the Egyptian Bistro that was next door to McDonalds. We had a delicious cheese burger and fries for $5 which was washed down with several bud lites and strawberry margaritas at $3. They also sold $3 martinis.

The staff on the front desk were all lovely and friendly. As we were going to the basketball and football games that were on over the festive period, they recommended the best modes of transport for getting to these events. We used the metro to get to both the Verizon Arena and the FedEx Field stadium.

On an evening we headed down to Wisconsin Avenue which was plentiful in bars and restaurants. There is a Wells Fargo bank opposite the hotel in addition to a CVS pharmacy which is only a short walk away. There is also a liquor store on Wisconsin Avenue should you wish to stock up on the beer.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here; we will definitely return if we visit Washington D.C in the near future.

I arrived at the Glover Park Hotel around 2:30 on a Thursday and was told my room wasn’t ready. I asked when it might be ready I was told “check-in” as at 4:00. Apparently not worth their time to let me know if it was ready before 4:00. I was then told I could leave my 3 large bags which I did and watched as they carefully tagged them and put them in a room behind the front desk. When I returned after 4:00 to check back in I asked for my bags I was told to help myself to room behind the front desk. Staff couldn’t even be bothered to stand up and help hold the door for me while I negotiated my large bags out of their storage area. I haven’t stayed in a hotel with such apathetic staff maybe ever. On the bright side the rooms were lovely - spacious and clean and well appointed with a nice large couch.

Sadly, we had great memories coming here when it was a Kimpton. The restaurant was lively, the staff was friendly, things were buzzing. Now the hotel is already tired and sad - the restaurant is unaffiliated is probably the most uninspired breakfast I have ever had. The room has unaddressed flaws- crack in the mirror, tiny shampoo and soap containers that are cheap and thoughtless. No water in the room. The worse part was it’s COVId protocol for towels. Leave them in the hallway if you want them changed out. The hallway? Is this a days inn? Good bye GP- we will miss your glory days.

i was excited about staying at this hotel , i had to go to DC on a very short trip 5 days) from Amman, Jordan and I thought the hotel will make the trouble of flying for 12+ hours worth it, unfortunately it didn't

i got a room in the third floor ane my view was someone's back yard basically, the room is connected to another room so that door in between is locked but someone form the other room tried to open it many times, maybe out of curiosity but still it was annoying and felt a little less secure. the room was not clean at all, i took pictures you can see how it wasn't cleaned well after the other person checked out, it wasn't vacuumed and not to mention the spots everywhere on the carpet, curtains, bed.. like seriously they need do deep cleaning and then regular cleaning in between stays
the cleaning staff should clean after 2 days, they came and literally did nothing other than the bed and taking trash out, they didn't change the towels and didn't bring more toilet paper or tissue box i ended up buying my own from the whole foods store nearby
There was no water in the room at all like bot even one bottle on the first day
i didn't include breakfast in my reservation, and im glad i didn't cuz i tried to go on my last day, i ordered the egg benedict for 28 $!!! i know DC is expensive but what is that! the only good thing about this hotel is its location and one of the reception staff who was very nice , can't remember her name maybe maria but she used to call me mamacita! and this other beautiful black lady (not the one with braided hair though who didn't smile at all) and the rest were kinda rude actually!

the next time i go to dc i will have a house of my own but anyway i will never think about staying at this hotel ever again!

The hotel is comfortable and has a nice restaurant on site. Bed and tv were nice. It is far from the subway (Metro) but close to parks and has many restaurants within walking distance. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice. You are across the street from the Russian Embassy.
Parking is $45.00 a night. Nearby street parking has a 2 hour limit unless you are a resident. I thought the parking rate was really high so much so I did not rent a car. The Uber ride from National Airport was $27.00 on a Friday evening. My main complaint is that the hotel did not honor my request, (as a light sleeper) to be away from the street. They put me on the street side directly above the hotel entrance. You can hear Wisconsin Avenue traffic. It did quiet down after 11:00p.m. and started back up around 6:00a.m. I asked to switch rooms and the staff said "you should have told us a booking you wanted to be away from the road". When I presented evidence that I did exactly that, Leigha said "is it really a problem". No effort was made to find me a quieter room and I did not push very hard for it. Did I like the hotel-yes. Would I stay here again-no.

I was very happy with this hotel. I was on the eighth floor, which gave me a view of the Mall.

The room was comfortable, everything was in working order, and the staff was friendly and helpful. One nice touch was "amenities" on each floor - drinks and snacks at no charge. I also appreciated that they provided guests with copies of the Washington Post rather than USA Today.

I much prefer this to the chain hotels.

Stayed here 6 nights for business. Gave me an adjoining room. I could hear the adjoining room’s music every night like the speaker was in my room. The last night they decided to blaze it and filled my room with weed smoke. I called the front desk and they did nothing. Slept with the windows open because I had nowhere else to go.
Kept finding feathers on my things. Figured out they were coming from the Swiss cheese they call a duvet which they placed between two sheets with no cover. The entire duvet was covered in pin holes with some massive ones scattered throughout. They also didn’t clean the room well as someone’s personal conditioner was left in the shower.
You’re better off at another hotel.

Our stay at Glover Park was a huge disappointment from beginning to end, and I would recommend you find another place to stay while in DC. 1) We had a 6 hour drive and called ahead to make sure the restaurant would be open so we could get a meal when we arrived., and they assured us they would be open with the last meal served at 9:30 pm. We entered the restaurant at 8:45 pm and were told that they had decided to close early- no apologies and no attempt to help us find a meal after the 6 hour drive. 2) The room looked more like a dorm room and was not comfortable: cold, no carpet or area rug, nothing on the walls except 3 small prints, otherwise cold (both in temperature and appearance). The bathroom was tiny with a piece of wood you pulled across the open door frame so no bathroom door and no privacy. 3) The staff at the front desk was disinterested and couldn't be bothered being hospitable. We asked about dinner, and they had no suggestions and no apologies about the restaurant, just really didn't care and seemed to be showing up with no intent on doing a good job or caring about people. 4) I left a scarf in the room when we left and called immediately. I explained in detail its appearance, where it was left, the bag it was in. They said they hadn't seen it and refused to look in the trash or speak with housekeeping. Terrible experience. Save your money and go elsewhere.

It was a business trip and convenient location for what we need. Staff was absolutely not friendly. Over charge for the pet stay. The room didn't provide any teabags, extra towels, shampoo, toilet paper etc. I had to simply buy the tea for $3 ! a cup at the restaurant at the lobby.
For the money we spent it should be all included like other places we've stayed many many times.

Stayed 2 nights here with 2 pals. Room and hotel were lovely, clean spacious room and bathroom, great view from 7th floor. When checking in, receptionist was pretty rude and passive aggressive. Rest of staff very friendly
Parking has gone up to $53 incl tax a night, which in my opinion, is an extortionate rate. Parking down the road can be gotten for $20.
Complimentary drinks/ snacks a very nice treat.

Most people would rent a car with a GPS and just drive to Georgetown to the Hotel. I don't drive, so I would take the Amtrak train to Union Station in downtown Washington and then take a taxi from there.
Answer from Stephen H
Seattle, Washington4 contributions4 helpful votes
One of the less expensive ways is to take the commuter (MARC) or Amtrak train from the BWI station to Union Station in DC, then take the Red Line metro to Woodley Park (or Tenleytown) and grab a cab or an Uber from there. A little cheaper but longer: take a bus from BWI to the DC Metro Greenbelt station, then take metro from there and change to the red line (and proceed as above) or change to the blue line and get a cab at the Foggy Bottom metro stop. An Uber or Lyft from BWI direct to the hotel is probably around $70, depending on traffic and timing.
