Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Washington Hilton presents a mixed bag of experiences. While the hotel's location garners high marks for being close to attractions and dining options, safety concerns are occasionally mentioned. Guests enjoy the serene atmosphere and praise the attentive staff, but some report service inconsistencies. Criticisms are directed towards the smaller rooms with dated features and cleanliness issues, including pests. The amenities receive mixed reviews, with some valuing the service and food credits, but others find them lacking and not worth the extra cost. Additional complaints include hidden fees and an overall sense that the hotel doesn't provide good value for money.

The Washington Hilton is a good hotel for business travelers. Due to the major updates needed at this hotel, I would not recommend it for couples or tourists. While we were there for a conference, there were several other overlapping conferences as well. The bars stay lively if a conference is happening, but they are not staffed enough to accommodate the influx of people-good drinks and food however. The hotel itself is very dark and it takes a long time to get to your room due to the long hallways. The room was clean and bed was comfy, but it was NYC type small which is unusually small for the DC area. If you do not like elevators like me, there are stairs you can take as a heads up. We ordered room service and note that it arrives in to-go boxes, not a traditional room service as well. Staff was nice, but overall this is a very average hotel.

We stayed here as this was our conference hotel, but I would definitely choose another hotel on the next trip to D.C. Our bed was clean, but the mattress itself was very uncomfortable and the furniture in our room was filthy and you could tell that they don't clean the furniture often. The heating/cooling unit in the room was also very poor and didn't work well throughout our stay. Even worse than the room itself was the restaurant in the lobby; we came here for breakfast and were completely forgotten by our server; they seated us and got us drinks, but then never came back to our table until we complained to the manager. I know this hotel has a storied history and it's in a nice location, but they need some serious upgrades to this hotel to make it a place where you'd actually want to book a room.

The beds were very comfortable, and our room was facing the courtyard, which meant the nights were nice and quiet. Fantastic attentive staff not only took care of us, but texted occasionally to be sure we were happy. The lobby decor is classic mid century modern in the best way. We've had a great visit.

Efficient business hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with a desk and king bed. Requested and received a connecting room for travel with my son in a separate adjoining room. Was able to attend the conference easily in the same hotel. Restaurants were available in the hotel but we primarily obtained snacks from the lobby cafe market. Hotel staff are helpful by communicating via text. Would stay again for another meeting.

This place is not a recommend imo. The rooms didn't seem clean to me. Too dark depending on where the laps are placed. Funny smell in room. Small hole in the wallpaper or wall. I felt I would need to sleep fully dressed in the hotel. The staff that I dealt with were nice and the location was good, but this place is a step up from a motel.

I have been coming to this hotel since the 1980s, but have not been here in about 10 years (maybe stayed 10 or 11 times total). It has changed a lot since I was a kid. At one time, I thought of it being upscale but now it is just average in comparison to newer places. Almost every time I have been here is for a conference (with my mother when I was a child and now for me for work). The hotel is conveniently located at the north end of DuPont Circle and about a 10-12 minute walk from the Metro (all slightly uphill), a 20-30 minute cab ride to Capitol Hill (depending on traffic, cost $15-$26 depending on cab, Lyft, or Uber), and about 35-45 minutes to Reagan National Airport on the Metro. The conference space and rooms are pretty standard for conference rooms. The room itself was decent but nothing remarkable. It was a medium size and had standard bath (shower/tub combo), king bed, dresser, television with direct TV, a desk and desk chair, and a side chair. The in-room safe fit my large laptop but the closet doors were tough to manage as they didn't slide well. There was a coffee maker with regular and decaf and teas. They would refill the coffee, etc. if you asked. There was no fridge but I asked for one from the front desk and they brought one to my room for use during my stay. The desk chair was a little short for me and made it slightly uncomfortable for working. The destination charge is a bit annoying. First off it is taxed so it is really a $23/night additional charge not $20, but you do get $20 credit towards food, which is easy to do since the hotel charges $23 for a burger (it was very good), $19 for a short rib sandwich, and $18 for a garden salad. A regular coffee was $5 and beers were about $8. The thing I did not like about it (besides kind of being forced to eat at the hotel) was that I used the digital key and didn't realize the credit existed until the next day and so lost out on day one. The front desk folks were really nice and helpful. My room faced the front of the building and overlooked the entrance. I would not recommend being on this side since it faces Connecticut Ave, which can be very noisy, specifically, there were sirens pretty much every 15-30 minutes at night at least until midnight. I had to use earplugs one night (the other nights were not as bad). Walgreens is the closest 'market' to the hotel, but there are a lot of good food options and restaurants. It was a bit harder to find a lunch option than a dinner option since it seems like a lot of places now just open at 4 or 5 pm. Nearby lunch options were Sweetgreen, Kramers, Panera, a few pizza places, and few Thai places etc.. There are good restaurants, some bars, a hookah bar, a board game bar, and Assets strip club all within a 15 minute walk. I felt safe walking around in this area even at night but did not go on an of the side-streets at night and did not walk alone. There were some sketchy characters at night though, particularly around the liquor store.

Everything was lovely, the bed was heavenly and both restaurant and housekeeping staff was on it! Front desk, concierge, and bell staff staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Want to give a shout out to Ismael(sp?), Abe at the concierge, Lee Tupper, Bailey and Isabel at the front desk for being so incredibly kind and helpful to our group. As well as one front desk staff who's name i dont remember (a lovely african american woman on staff monday night) Tesfaalem and Shefaw were expedient, cool, calm and attentive while dealing with a huge influx of people and baggage. I felt completely taken care of even amongst the hubub of one conference checking out and another checking in!

I stayed at the Hilton Nov 13-15, 2023, room 8164. This is a "full service" situation...bellmen, daily housekeeping, restaurants etc. My room was great...modern decor with a fridge. Getting to the room...long walk from the elevators, but I considered it exercise. I was in a bus with a huge group, so my parking was unique. I would stay again if I was enjoying the Dupont Circle area or if I had business in DC.
