Finding difficulty getting a campsite closer to the coast decided on this KOA since their (KOA) standards are high. What a disappontment. In the middle of nowhere, Dusty, hot, terrible WIFI, no cable, no over the air TV signal, expensive. Only upside is getting our money back for the second night.

As a business owner myself, I feel that KOA Corporate needs to be aware of the type of service or lack thereof we received when visiting the KOA Los Angeles North/Acton these past few days for Memorial Day weekend.

The first impression of this KOA campground was that it was EXTREMELY run down and the facilities subpar. I have stayed at hundreds of campgrounds in my lifetime and never in all my years have I seen a campground this run down bearing the KOA stamp of approval. We had over 20 people staying between 1 Deluxe cabin, 1 Deluxe tent site and additional campsites nearby. As the groups organizer, I was extremely embarrassed when the rest of our group started arriving for the weekend. Where to even begin.

1) The campsites were overgrown with weeds and the picnic tables were literally falling apart.

2) The "Deluxe Campsite" we paid $120 per night for did not have power or the water it was supposed to have. The fix for this was to run an extension cord from a nearby cabin over the parking lot and the breaker kept tripping, so we just used it for charging our cell phones, but no major anything could be kept on this power line. The propane fire-ring that was shown in the picture and we were told that was included in the $120 a night deluxe campsite was NOT what was provided to us. The pictures on the KOA website show a nice huge fire-ring with wood benches and nice patio table with umbrella. ALL were non-existent. The fire-ring they gave us was mostly decorative and provided very little heat source. We were told that if we wanted to rent a second one the cost was $35 for one night or $55 for two nights. Well on the KOA website it shows $20 for one night and $35 for two nights, propane included. Someone is definitely trying to make a few extra bucks on campers who are cold here. We definitely did not get what we paid for. No refund was offered or given.

3) The restrooms and showers by the pool were absolutely disgusting the entire weekend, and when I say disgusting, I mean feces on the floor disgusting, almost every time someone went to use them. I brought this to the attention of the management at the front office numerous times and they said that they clean them several times daily. I told them that the problem was that they needed to leave plungers in each and every bathroom and it would help immensely. They said they don't do that. I told them immediately that they better start cleaning more often and ensuring the toilets were cleaned for the amount of guests there. It NEVER happened. It was often more sanitary to urinate outside then walk through fecal covered floors in the men's bathroom. Half the time there was not even toilet paper in the restrooms. Subfloors in bathhouse #1 were rotten and the area near the sinks is within months of probably having someone go through the floor. GROSS!

4) The other restroom and shower below (Bathhouse #2) was without hot water for most of the weekend, which made for taking showers extremely unpleasant. Only bathhouse #3 was semi-clean, and that's because it was in the RV section of the park, where most people had their own bathrooms and showers, so it didn't get hit as hard by campers from the tent sites. This bathhouse was quite a walk, but it was worth it for a hot shower and semi-clean restrooms (at least for part of the weekend).

5) The laundry facilities did not work properly and the credit/debit feature didn't even work at all. To make matters worse, when we went up to the office to ask for change the one front desk girl told me "oh, we don't do that, you need to plan and bring your own change." I promptly informed her "you have washers and dryers for use that take coins and there's no change machine there and the credit card options are down. You most certainly DO "DO THAT". You're in the business of customer service, you better ensure your guests are taken care of. PERIOD!

6) Trash was often overflowing from the yellow waste bins in the camping areas. We informed numerous staff that they needed to come by and dump the trash and some of the days it went all day without being attended to.

7) The POOL was absolutely disgusting and freezing cold. I did my homework and due diligence BEFORE we booked and called and I was assured that the pool was heated and that this KOA boasted an inflatable waterslide option for the long weekend and summer. Not only was there NO waterslide, but the pool was absolutely NOT heated. In fact, it was freezing cold, and when I say freezing, I'm talking almost unbearably cold. The spa was another matter. You could not even see the bottom of the spa and it was a greenish/murky color. I went to the office to inform them that they needed to "shock and treat" the water in the spa and the girl literally asked "what do you mean, treating the water"? WOW. Clearly this staff was clueless and needed to be informed on proper sanitary conditions.

8) The second spa was out of commission and instead of fixing it, they just threw a platform over the top of the broken spa with green astro turf and called it good. Not only was this a tripping hazard, but it just shows a complete lack of care for the park and an unwillingness to repair things and keep amenities functioning.

9) Every single night promptly at 10 PM someone on a golf cart would role up and tell us it was 10 PM and our group needed to be quiet when speaking. Mind you, we did not have any music playing and all we were doing was sitting around the campfire talking and telling stories. I have NEVER been at any KOA, Coast to Coast, Thousand Trails, Good Sam Park or other campground with such a strictly enforced "gestapo" like attitude towards talking after 10 PM, especially on a long Holiday weekend. It was absolutely ridiculous. If the staff were as concerned with the trash and bathrooms as they were with people being quiet, it probably would have benefitted a lot more people.

10) The KOA Camp Store had various products (including milk) for sale that was expired. Any business owner or manager should have checked this prior to a major Holiday weekend and ensure that ALL product was up to code and available. On top of this, there were items for sale that were simply "price gouging." I realize one needs to make a profit, but charging three and four times what the cost is for something is simply not good business. (One example, small propane canister was sold for $10, which is $3.50 each almost anywhere else).

11) The one pleasant surprise was the family that booked and stayed in Kamping Kabin #5. They showed us all and it was nice and clean, but at $153 a night, this is hardly a bargain and one might as well stay at a nice Marriott instead of a KOA Kabin for these prices.

All in all the entire experience was a HUGE letdown and I'll think twice before ever staying at another KOA ever again and so will all the people in our group. We spent thousands of dollars to stay at a sub-par KOA letdown of a park with broken amenities, non-existent amenities, rundown facilities and staff that cared more about "keeping it down" then "keeping it clean", NO THANKS. You can rest assured that we'll be telling everyone we know to stay at Thousand Trails or any other campground in the future, but definitely not the Los Angeles North/Acton KOA. If Corporate KOA gives one lick about their reputation, I'd highly suggest booking an undercover team to fly IMMEDIATELY to this KOA campground and have them take a look for themselves. Anyone with ANY business sense would be pulling this KOA from the system or requiring massive improvements immediately.

We were supposed to stay here for 3 nights.. We're on a road trip across America and for 3 nights we wanted to be close to SoCal. Long story short-- there was a sign on the bahroom door that said hide valuables in car because they've had break ins recently and this put a bad taste in my mouth as soon as we got there. People were screaming all night long and there was a guy with an obnoxious car peeling out and kept doing it. The only calming noise was the tiger roaring. I usually don't complain but in the morning we went to the office and the owner was there.. She was super nice and helpful and apologetic and gave me my money back. We left that morning and I'll never go back to another koa. It's not real camping anyway-- it's a last resort if the national and state parks camping is full.

I can’t believe this place has any good reviews at all. To say it was terrible, does a disservice to the word terrible. The electrical connection was horrible in AUGUST when it was 95+ degrees there. When we advised that the electrical kept shorting out, we were told, well you could probably run your generator at night if you want to. REALLY?! I’m paying $72+ / night for full hook ups and the response is I can pay even more and run my generator using my diesel?! This place felt very unsafe as well. Do not stay here; go down the highway to Santa Clarita and stay somewhere decent.

Our expectations were a well undermined, no bathroom facilities, although they had the one open by the main check in area, it was filthy dirty., WiFi rarely works, very over priced.
Trains blasting there horn at least ten times a day, 3AM was the best one especially each day.
The biggest disappointment was the pricing of this place, not worth it!!

Great place to make a base for hiking trips to the San Gabriel Mountains and the Vazquez Rocks area. The staff at the KOA work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay there.
Stayed here Memorial Weekend 2021 in upgraded RV spot. Management had activities each day and night (movie night for kids, snow cones, hay ride). Cool spot to see PCT hikers too. Pool, shuffle board, volleyball, bike rentals and more! Very little cell signal and Wifi is spotty. Metro Train 15 minute drive away and takes 50 min train ride to Union Station (los Angeles). 👍👍

Beware*** Warning
Power outages due to electrical issues Mr. Justin Hahn is the owner and will not fix the issues. He has been told by city and fined but still nothing is being done .My husband and our family checked in February 24,2024 we started having electrical issues in April . Mr. Justin Hahn was aware of the issues for three months and did nothing to fix the issues . June my husband and I came home from work early that day well to our surprise we had no electricity so I was pissed my dogs where home and it was in triple digits that day . I go to office the ladies in there already know I’m not happy I tell them what’s going on Mr. Justin Hahn says move them workers tell him that’s not going to fix the problem it’s surging it’s his park he don’t want to hear the truth or deal with issues ,so he tells them to move us to the bigger stop on a different breaker .We move power goes out again while we are gone and we come home again electric off it comes back on and starts a fire in my control box thank god we had a Rv tech out and they found it fast before it spread . Rv tech told us we were lucky because we cut breaker off and it was in a box . We go up to office Mr. Justin Hahn says if it ain’t at the pole it ain’t my problem 🤔 No sir it is your problem everyone been having electrical issues for year and it has messed up peoples campers and Owner want them to clam it on insurance 😂😂 for your parks fault . Well long story short we had to replace our control box and our converter 800 dollars later this man got his employee to come on there day off to tell us we can’t pay our rent tomorrow he wants us out of his park because we complain to much ! Sorry Mr. Justin Hahn but everyone in this park complains because you won’t fix the problems and have a fire hazard as a park !

We stayed one night at this campground in our travel trailers and it was definitely sub-par. We had reserved 2 sites booked as deluxe. The sites had no picnic tables, no room, absolutely nothing to make the deluxe. Fortunately we were traveling together so at least it was friends 6 ft. away! There wasn't even enough room to extend our awning and the chairs we set up were 3 ft. from the sewer hook-up. Very disappointing! The sites were also expensive, close to $80. per night with tax. The people were friendly but the place is run down and shabby. The entire campground needs to be upgraded and fixed. How our sites were considered deluxe is beyond comprehension! I seriously don't know how this place continues to be considered a KOA Holiday. It was terrible. A shame as the site could be lovely. We knew about the trains, they weren't really bad. We enjoyed the hooting owls. If you need to stay in this area I recommend the Californian, much, much better and cheaper!
