Upgrade to suite but room smells old and musty. Front desk was very polite but they need to upgrade the furniture and rugs!!! The area is sort of sketchy. At least there's a mall across the street!!!!!!

I thought the Coral Reef had been 'refreshed' but that was not the case. Furniture was the same tired sofa and chair. My boyfriend sat in the chair and it sunk so much we thought he wouldn't be able to get out of it! Bed was tired as well and a bit lumpy. Bedding was adequate and we had several...

We have stayed here several times. We are always looking for a reasonably priced, clean, quiet place to sleep, not a fancy place to hang out in. The Coral Reef Inn fits our needs. It is close to the beach, and a short drive from charming downtown Alameda, the Alameda Flea Market, and the ferry terminal (the ferry gets you...

The Coral Reef was once 'the place to stay' in Alameda. A block from the beach, spacious units, well kept. Now, it is in a state of rapid decline. The owners are taking in well over 10K a night when full, and not putting anything back into restoration. We had a suite with a kitchen which included one dirty plate...

We had a week in the SF Bay area and needed a cheap base. This is just such a place. Most people who come here will do so purely based on price, which is exactly what we did. We were not expecting high quality and we did not get it. It ticks the boxes you'd expect for a cheap hotel:...

OK, I agree with every review of this hotel, but if you come prepared and with little expectations this place can work for you, IF you like camping. FIRST THE BAD: The wallpaper is slipping off the walls, there is a weird smell at times, the place looks like a prison when you are checking in, there is no "real"...

My 2nd time here with a much different experience. This one was bad marked it off the list for now, we stayed in room 159 bottom floor at very end of building. The room smelled we had to run air all night to mask the smell. Tub had flaking paint the come off and floats around the tub when you...

This hotel is an enigma... one one hand I loved it for the throughback feeling of my early childhood and staying at hotels in the 70's. But except the tv cable and wifi... it lacks what most hotels provide in service. Very by the book in checkin and check out procedures and very limited continental breakfast. I suggest everyone prepare...

This is about as bad as it gets for me before I will leave. These are old apartments that they converted into a hotel, so the rooms are suite-style will a full kitchen and lots of closet storage space. However, while the sheets and linens as well as the bathroom were clean, nothing else really seemed to be. Even the...
