Detailed Reviews
I was excited at the prospect of a new and upscale hotel at Disneyland! And, in fact, this will be a positive edition to the slew of hotels servicing the Disney resorts in the future....but not today. One good point is, of course, the location which is an easy walk to Disneyland and adjacent to Garden Walk dining/shopping options (Cheesecake Factory is almost connected to the hotel and a breakfast/lunch cafe (Huckleberry) is also adjacent to the hotel). Another positive is the design of the hotel which is spacious and modern with lots of couches and seating throughout the common areas. The main floor/lobby is spacious, but because it houses the reception desk, bar, restaurant, meeting rooms, and pool this area could get crowded during peak travel times. The "Starbucks" ground floor quick serve cafe provided good food and drinks at a reasonable price. The guest rooms are just slightly larger than what I would consider as too small and since it is a new property I am surprised that the rooms were not more spacious. The bathroom is, however, quite large with a separate tub and shower. Coffeemaker and refrigerator in-room. Beds were comfortable. Sofa bed for seating and a [too] small desk which is situated directly under the wall mounted television and so it is not ideal for working. Air conditioner was efficient and quiet. Staff was mostly friendly, including the bellman/valet who seemed to work all hours of the day! A landscaped, lighted outdoor area with tables for food and drinks is located just off of the lobby and could be nice if staffed properly (no staff at all when I was there).
As others have reported, there are some problems with the property, including: rooftop bar closed; pool closed (and located on the east side of the hotel and so sun time is minimized??); restaurant/bar service stopped at 7:30pm; fitness room closed. Also, when I asked about a room upgrade due to my Marriott Bonvoy status the desk clerk replied that they do not honor status upgrades or offer other Bonvoy status perks. That is a real disappointment (and one that I am seeing more frequently at the Marriott properties) considering that one of the reasons I chose the hotel (over my usual stay at the very nice Hyatt a few blocks away) was because of Marriott loyalty and benefits. Valet parking is required although the car were never parked in a garage just spread out among the hotel driveway.
The bottom line is that it is a nice property that does not seemed particularly geared toward families, but rather the slightly upscale traveler or adult couple traveling for pleasure. There is a lot of meeting room space spread over multiple floors for those who are interested. Probably some of the problems I encountered were due to Covid/low occupancy and will be rectified. This hotel is a good choice for those in town for a few days and certainly presents a solid option to those willing to pay a slight premium for a better overall experience.

Luxury, top notch professional service, elegance, comfort describe the new JW in Anaheim located off Disney Way and Katella.
This was probably one of Marriott’s top properties. Checkin with Monica was fabulous. She was proactive in describing the hotel layout, actually taking the time to ask where I would like to stay and asking if I need shampoo, water etc..
The hotel has 11 floors with the top two dedicated concierge floors. The lounge (closed for now) is on the 10th floor. In the middle of the hallway is a staircase connecting the 10/11th floor. Elites receive 750 points daily for the lounge being closed. The 11th floor with a separate elevator has a restaurant (opens at 5p) with indoor/outdoor dining/drinks with the deck overlooking Disney for fireworks.
Indoor dining stated this past Sunday. Odd number rooms face Disney. Low number were near the elevator and increase to the 30s at other end of hallway. Hotel is in a L shape. Hotel valet parking was $40 and there was NO self parking. Front desk was on second floor.
Rooms were outstanding with luxurious bedding and bathrooms. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Disney was a 5 minute walk and numerous places to eat within walking distance.
Everything was awesome.

Had an amazing 5 night stay here in July and this hotel made our Disneyland trip extra special.
The staff here is what sets this hotel apart and in particular Lia in the executive lounge and Jazmin at the front desk were the standouts.
Location to Disney was super convenient and we were able to walk there by taking the shortcut through the 2nd floor out the exit into garden walk and we were at the Disney Uber drop off area at Disney land in less than 10 mins. If you are tired at the end of a day at Disneyland you can take the toy story bus back and walk from the toy story parking lot across the street back to the hotel.
The executive lounge was a great place to grab some snacks in the morning (they include to go bags) come back to in the middle of the day for a refreshing drink. And watch the fireworks in the evening. And all the lounge hostesses were great especially the aforementioned Lia.
A hotel stay is never perfect even though I rank my experience five stars so here are some nit picks and things I wish I would have knew before my stay which will hopefully make your stay more enjoyable:
The internet speed can be super slow.
Originally I thought it was my computer having issues so spent an hour my first night there trying to troubleshoot my computer as my iPhone wifi connection was super fast but the computer connection was so slow and not able to stream video and I needed to connect back to the office to work.
After an hour of fiddling around I discovered that even though the wifi network was the ame name, when connecting to the wifi network, for some reason the hotel uses two different internet providers one is bia internet and one is att.
The att is blazing fast but the bia internet is super slow and it seems my iPhone would usually connect to the fast connection while my computer was connecting to the slow one and it seemed to be a bit random as to which internet you would get. The staff tried to help me with this but we could not figure it out so this was a bit of a frustrating issue to start my trip.
In my opinion, the park view rooms are not worth upgrading to in my view as the only real discernible landmark you can see is the guardians of the galaxy and partially the Ferris wheel and roller coaster but they are too far off and you really need to know what you are looking for. I would recommend just booking a regular room.
We were given inconsistent information about various things. For example we were originally told that the 25 daily fee that they charged that can be used at restaurants at the hotel could not be used at the Starbucks on the first floor but found out a couple days into our stay that it could be used for Starbucks and the grab and go items that they offered.
Another example we were told originally the included breakfast for marriott
Bonvoy platinum members was a choice of a la carte or buffet but then was told it was only a buffet breakfast.
Those nit picks aside had an amazing stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

This is my third time visiting the Anaheim area in the past 5 years. First time post COVID-19. Previously, my daughter and I have stayed at the Hyatt House and Hotel Indigo, both located less than a five minute walk from the JW Marriott. This hotel is by far superior to those.
The JW Marriott is a relatively new hotel, less than 18 months since opening its doors to the public. It is connected to Anaheim’s Garden Walk, which houses PF Changs, the Cheesecake Factory, and a wonderful Mexican restaurant with extraordinary margaritas and nightly live music. The customer service is superb. There are too many extraordinary employees to mention them all, but one that stands out is FYNN, who works at the front desk. His compassion, thoughtfulness and kindness was a refreshing change from the generalized apathy and disconnectedness people have grown accustomed to since the onset of the pandemic. My daughter and I arrived shortly after 12 noon and we were allowed to check in 3+ hours early. We received a complementary upgrade to a room overlooking Disney’s California Adventure, which gave us a partially obstructed view of Disneyland’s fireworks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The gym is fully equipped and there’s a full-service Starbucks on the ground floor to ensure that parents are fuelled before heading out to the theme parks. My only “complaint“ would be with the lack of attentiveness to the pool area. On our one designated “pool day“, there were no pool towels for 2+ hours and the pool deck itself looked like it had never been washed. In other resorts, particularly at the JW Marriott level, there should be maintenance crews outside each morning scrubbing the pool deck and ensuring that lounge chair cushions are not soiled or torn. Otherwise, however, this is an excellent hotel property. I would definitely return in the future if coming to Disneyland. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk to the Parks/ Downtown Disney and the staff try their best to meet each guest’s needs.

This is my second time staying at this property. I originally stayed there about a year ago and did NOT have an enjoyable stay(see my old review for details). The General Manager reached out to me afterwards and I was able to reschedule another day at the hotel.
This stay was everything we expected the first time around. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were well kept(spotless) and there was no loud music past 10PM so the kids could sleep!
I have stayed at the Disney properties and you get much more for your dollar at the JW than at any of the three Disney hotels. I'm very happy that the GM reached out to me to be able to give the hotel another chance. I would definitely recommend them now.

This resort had only been open for a week and a half when i checked in. Some staff were still being trained but everyone was so friendly and helpful. Due to COVID restrictions some amenities were not open, but i expected that when i booked the room.
The pool was nice and the pool loungers were comfortable. Staff regularly rounded offering water and towels as well as taking food/drink orders. the main restaurant still was not open, but you could order food from the lobby bar
I look forward to returning to this property once state/county restrictions are lifted and all amenities are available

This was a beautiful property attached to the Garden Walk shops and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Disney Parks. It had a calm, adult vibe with a lot common sitting areas to relax in. The rooms were as expected for a newer hotel however the shower already had hard water build up and mold stains. Although the staff was friendly, they did not appear to be staffed appropriately for the number of guests. Plan ahead and be prepared to wait a bit longer for services, unless of course waiting 35 minutes for your valetted car you called ahead for is not a big thing to you. By the way, there is only valet parking. Also, if you plan to watch the Disneyland fireworks from the 11th floor restaurant, then make reservations and request to sit on the side of the restaurants where you can see the fireworks. Also, there is no direct shuttle access from the hotel to the Parks as advertised on the hotel website, however the valet recommended to walk to to Toy Story parking lot to catch a shuttle: if you are able to, then just walk. Overall, it was a good stay. I expected more from a JW.

We had a lovely 2 night stay here in a theme park view room on the 10th floor. This hotel is situated with a commanding view of the Disney Resort and it will be spectacular when the lights go back on and the fireworks return !
We were very impressed with all of the staff we interacted with. From the excellent front desk staff, the valets, to the Food & Beverage staff - all were well trained, experienced and professional. We had a minor problem and some requests, that were all solved immediately.
The handcrafted cocktails were delicious and included herbs from their lovely garden. We also had a delicious burger and fries and a Margarita pizza.
The hotel and grounds are pretty, modern, and clean. Lots of safety guidelines in place, ppe, sanitation and cleanliness. The sparkling pool was refreshing and the loungers are very comfortable. There was herbed and fruit infused water available by the pool.
The lobby bar Citriculture is situated both indoors in the lobby and outdoors adjacent to the pool. Two Peloton bikes were outdoors for use.
We were so happy the roof top lounge Parkistry was open during our stay. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate with excellent meats and cheeses, crackers and rosemary focaccia bread. We also ordered and enjoyed the lamb meatball dish.
The gracious General Manager Mr. Nusrat Mirza is highly visible and welcoming. He happened to notice us peering into their still closed onsite restaurant and opened the doors and introduced us to the Executive Chef. The Chef has an impressive pedigree from worldwide Marriotts, Ritz Carltons and the Langham. All of the food we tasted at the hotel was delicious and fresh and beautifully presented
We saw Mr. Mizra often interacting with the Guests and Staff.
Nextdoor is the Gardenwalk Shops & its many Restaurants. The hotel has its own access to the Gardenwalk.
The hotel is a short walk to Downtown Disney and most shops and restaurants were open 10 - 9 pm. It provided a nice diversion from the Covid situation.
We can’t wait to return.

This resort had only been open 6 days when we checked in for a 5 day stay, so facility is in pristine shape. Numerous restrictions due to COVID that when lifted will enhance a stay. It is a bit odd to be in this normally high volume traffic area and have it virtually shut down. Something has to change soon in California as it looks like an apocalypse. Ate at several restaurants in the area where they are only allowed to serve food outside. They are making a valiant effort to serve at reduced tables space but I don’t see how they can manage the overhead. The State of California better get its act together or the return of tourism will be too slow to recover. Hope this nice hotel which is located in a great location within walking distance of parks and convention center survives. Well worth a booking if traveling to Anaheim. Kudos to the staff for noticeable improvements during our stay. Only suggestion is to offer light snacks on bar menu to munch on while having a cocktail by the pool or at the zen garden. Really a beautiful property.

This resort definitely has a lot of room for growth when it comes to customer service. First, I will say that the hotel layout is very confusing. When a person pulls in to the property and enters the building, one would expect to be entering the lobby and reception area. However, guests need to take an escalator up to a different level to check in. There were absolutely no signs posted and no employees around to help figure this out. After walking around for a while, I had to go back outside to ask the valet guys where I can check in. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, I was very disappointed that there were absolutely no incentives for staying at this property. I asked for an upgrade with a better view and was told the hotel was fully committed. However, the Marriott App showed multiple room types available and there were barely any guests staying in the hotel. I had two rooms booked which overlooked the roof of a building. This was such an eye sore and not what I expected staying here as we were celebrating a special occasion. I stayed at the JW Marriott in Orlando Bonnet Creek last month and had a completely different experience (upgraded to a suite and had breakfast included for having elite status). There is no self-parking option at the resort and guests are forced to use valet parking. Prior to checking out, I requested my car 30 minutes in advance. However after checking out, I learned that the request was never fulfilled and my family ended up having to wait an additional 10 minutes, making us late to our breakfast reservation.
I will also add that the rooms are quite small for being located in the Disneyland area. The shower pressure is also awful.

I had a rental car as I was there for a week working. But I believe that Options include shuttle, town car, SUV and limo from quality providers as Supershuttle, Groundlink and Blacklane.
The was a roof bar but it was closed when we were there. Our room was facing the park and we were able to see the fireworks from there.
No - they have a dry cleaning/laundry service, but not one you can use yourself
I don’t know, so you may want to contact them by phone.
