We usually stay in Trinidad when we visit the north coast, but everything was booked this particular weekend. I like quirky hotels with historical character, which this one definitely does have. But the charm ends after the 1st night. The hotel was built in the late 1800's and I get the fact that rooms were small then and other features...

We love Arcata, one of my favorite places! We usually stay in Trinidad, but we loved how the hotel was right on the square/plaza, plus it allows dogs. The hotel is very old- historic. The first night was awful- the bed was literally like a slab of concrete, & I'd rather sleep on a hunk of cardboard than the pillows....

We stayed the night of July 3 and had a great experience. After a good meal at the Japanese restaurant downstairs we ambled over to the baseball stadium one block away. What a sweet little ballpark. The next morning (after a quiet sleep....no noise problems for us like others described) we awoke to a 4th of July festival on the...

I always like to try unusual hotels, especially historic ones. Arcata Hotel was very disappointing, I paid for the most expensive room expecting it to be a cut above the rest, well, no. It was larger, had an extra room, but the bathrooms were tiny and dingy, and basically it was just drab, made me feel I was at boarding...

My husband and I have stayed here several times, we love old hotels, we love the fact that it is not a chain, and it is unique. I must say though, all the money we pay to stay here as well as all the other guests, they can totally afford to update it. And they can do so and still...

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Arcata this past Saturday and Sunday nights. The hotel is located on the square which is both a blessing and a curse. There are a lot of cute little shops with local artists works located all around the square...but there are also four or five dive bars which makes for a very...

I have traveled all over the world, and never stayed in a hotel with such rude, inconsiderate guests. Yelling, loud talking in the hallways, partying till all hours. I could have gotten more sleep curling up with the transients that seem to have taken over the beautiful Arcata square. 2:30 AM I wake to very loud drunken talking in the...

We thoroughly loved our stay here. We felt we were taking a chance since previous reviews either love it or hated it, but we fall into the positive group! It is historically interesting, yet clean and well maintained; lobby, hallways, and our room had original charm yet had been tastefully updated and maintained. We read about the noisy bar and...

The hotel is located right on the square - easy access to everything downtown, from the many dive bars to high-end sushi and more. There is no gym in the hotel, but they will provide a pass to the Arcata Community Pool, which is a 5-10 minute jog up the hill away, but has a pool, weights/cardio machines room, as...

Ok hotel in great location. Needs a little spruce up in terms of carpets, beds, furnishings. Walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors talking all night. Location was tight on the downtown square.
