It's a good motel room. (Ignore ancient reviews.)
First, let me say that I might give it 3.5 stars but I just couldn't say 4*. It's wayyy better than 2*
Know that it is totally a motel and the rooms are smallish. The reviews that mention road noise aren't wrong--there's a lot of road noise, and it woke me several times And, sure, there was a guy sitting outside a room when we checked in around 4, but I'll presume it was his room. I didn't feel unsafe.
However, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated, and the staff was friendly. I don't ask for much more from a motel room.
I think all rooms are on the second story as cars park underneath rooms. That adds a bit of safety and reduces crawling bugs--yay! Maybe they could add something (roll-down blinds on the walkway at night? curtains along with blinds in the room?) that muffles the road noise, maybe not.
If I'm just passsing thru Auburn or generally am not expecting to stay in the room for long, I'd definitely stay here again.

Nicely remodeled budget stay.
These pictures are old. This motel has had a complete makeover.

Good location 6 min walk from the new downtown and restaurants.

Good value. Priced cheaper than Auburn hotels and better quality than Auburn motels. Quick and friendly check in and check out.

The room is on the small side, but clean and newly remodeled. The bed was fairly comfortable and the sheets were clean and soft.

The room had a desk, mini fridge, and microwave. A small flat- screen TV with some cable channels.
Lights with dimmer switches.

Bathroom shower was clean with glass doors. The shower and toilet water pressure were decent. A large vanity mirror was placed above the modern sink.

Good Wi-Fi .

The A/C wall unit was older and musty, but it worked well.

The floor was uneven and soft in many places.

Rooms are all above covered parking spaces. No elevators. Thin walls. Busy roads outside.

Place Is A Dump
The plumbing did not work properly. The sheets were dingy and management refused to give me clean sheets. The place looked like it was ready to fall apart. Recently released prisoners and drug addicts stay at this motel. No internet. Stay somewhere else at all costs. Avoid this dump.

Whoa nelly!
Well, we needed a place to sleep when all the other local hotels were full and were directed here. There may be a reason it was the only one left. First the pros: The shower had hot water and was clean, no signs of bed bugs, and the staff were friendly. There was an updated flatscreen and a nice beveled mirror. The cons: *sigh* Not sure where to start. The place clearly needed some serious renovation. The sheets had stains and the blankets were old. The long hallogen bulb had no shade and the other light fixture was missing its shade. The one that had a shade was stained brown with what looked like mildew or lord knows what. There is refrigerator in the room, but the door would not stay shut and was covered in clear plastic tape across it and on the hinge. The hotel art was warped and wavy and ready for a trip to goodwill where you wonder who would buy that. There is no lock on the inside of the door and where the deadbolt would have been is filled with gloppy yellow paint to give you that added sense of security. The fire detector is missing off the wall, but there was a mysterious beeping that kept going off in the room that we could not locate a source. Lord have mercy on your soul if you decide to turn on the a/c because you will be hit with the foulest fish stench that will drive you straight out of the room (my partner compared it to unsanitary lady parts that shall not be named). You can see dirty black fingerprints on the door and fingerprints poking through layers of dust on the top of the bed frame reminiscent of car "wash me" signs. The towels were more light greyish than white. There was no trash can in the bathroom, no toiletries or even soap. There was toilet paper though-BONUS! The bathroom was covered in poorly done calking around all the walls, but was fairly clean besides that. In the morning someone revved up their truck in the carport outside our door sounding like he was in the room with us and instantly permeated the room with the smell of exhaust like we had sucked on a tailpipe. I tried to peep outside, but the blinds were broken and would not open. The place should have only charged $20 a night, and called itself "The palace" or "paradise inn" or something that you usually only find with motels of this quality, but we paid much more than that unfortunately for our adventure at the Elmwood. I reminded myself that I stayed in hotels in India that were worse and that got me through the night. Stay at your own risk. May best be suited for a thrillseeker or someone just needing a shower.

Incredible Street Noise ....
OMG ,
I cannot believe how terribly noisy this place was , all night long , motorcycles revving their engines and peeling out , cars and trucks racing up and down the street , then at 4-00am a constant banging going on somewhere in the building , no closet, no desk in rooms , two steel fold up chairs , that you would find at a school assembly , cigarette butts everywhere, zero sleep, and the rate was high for such a beat up place , I knew I had made a mistake upon arrival ... A very scary place with scary individuals lurking about , The shower did work well and the TV was good , but that's about it

Charming lil hotel.
We were so worried about staying here after reading the reviews. What are these people talking about?! The room was clean and pleasant. The AC pumped. Bed was comfortable. The location was great. The staff was helpful and charming. I would LOVE to stay here again.

Early hours of the morning check in
Reno booked out so rang here and they were able to check us in at 4am. Renovated rooms with new owners. Reception man didn’t have good English. Rooms clean and been painted etc. Room had and separated room with another double bed. So could sleep 4. Great shower pressure but the glass door would not stay shut.
