The Holiday Inn Auburn garners appreciation for its inviting amenities, notably a well-regarded breakfast and pristine pool, all situated in a convenient locale with a full restaurant and attentive staff. Impeccable cleanliness shines throughout, from spotless rooms to tidy common spaces, while the occasional wear is a minor concern.

Detailed Reviews
What a wonderful stay! The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. We were visiting with our grandkids, who ended up staying over a few nights in our 2 room suite. We all loved having custom omelets & breakfast burritos at the amazing buffet before spending the day in the recently remodeled salt water pool & spa. The comfortable courtyard became my early morning sanctuary while everyone else was sleeping.
And, while the rooms were updated and well appointed, the best part of our visit was the way the staff absolutely spoiled us! A special shout out to Matt & Rebecca at the front desk, who moved us to a larger room and made sure we were treated like royalty!
And a special shout out to Jesus in housekeeping, who found my briefcase in our first room and made sure it was safely moved to our new suite.
As someone who has traveled for years staying in top hotels, resorts and Air BnBs, this staff tops the list as the best at making me feel that we were very special guests. Thanks!

We’ve stayed here a few times over the years and have always been pleased by the quality of the hotel and pleasant nature of the staff. Matt and Nate put a great face on this place with their easygoing nature! Pedro is always hustling! We really enjoyed our dinner at Max’s and the breakfast was yummy too. The Chef who made our omelette as was working his tail off to make food for the line during the socially distanced requirements (over a hot station with a mask, ugh, props to him) and the kids love the pool! A great stopping point between the Bay and Reno when we don’t want to drive all the way to Reno. Thanks Holiday Inn we’ll be back that’s promise not a threat lol. 😍

So the room was not bad but I was upset when it came to breakfast. You wanted to charg me for breakfast and for 220$ a night I was at least hoping for a free continental breakfast. I travel I work hard for my money. Every other holiday Inn would of had a free breakfast I was very disappointed and will not be going back because that was a huge letdown sometimes us travelers depend on those breakfastes.

Dear roberthC5005QL, Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience of the breakfast buffet charge. We would like to clarify with you as there may be some confusion between Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brand hotels. Holiday Inn hotels normally do not include breakfast but Holiday Inn Express brand hotels do. If you have concerns or questions regarding the breakfast program at either one of these hotels, please free to contact us or visit IHG.com. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we do hope you will give us another opportunity and stay again in the future.

I would have given a less rating due to staff service, but keep the extra points for having a restaurant onsite and clean room.
It is a good hotel, conveniently located. the rooms are decent, but the front desk staff service is horrendous. I had a series of weekends (and some weekday seminars I needed to attend, but even repeated requests of having a room closer to the lobby, only once was granted. Some of these requests were made in advance.
I had one more seminar to go to and I was put through a ringer by the manager ansd staff. Even though I had been there often during the last 2 months, this time they asked for my federal ID. The problem is many of us are working remotely and I just returned from an overseas trip which I elected to leave my federal credentials at home. When I arrived I did not have it with me even through I had been there many times. The manager looked at my DL and CC and he returned them to me. I went back to my car to grab more luggage and attempted to look for my fed ID but could not find it. I went back in and found he had someone else took over. I accepted the full rate and she asked to see my DL again, which I had put away in the glove compartment. After going back and forth about 3-4 times, I was sick and tired of the whole process and decided to go elsewhere.
It was exceedingly poor of the manager not to update the to the new person that he already saw my DL.
It was poor that repeated attempt to be closer to the lobby was not honored. The other doors are not very well-lit and there is not Handicap parking anywhere else except for the Lobby parking.
I would never go back to this hotel again.
Even though Auburn does not have a lot of choices, this is not a good one.

Dear sfbayarea650, We do apologize that you felt that you had a less than pleasant experience at our hotel. Our staff takes great pride in our service, so we thank you for your feedback. Normal check-in procedures at majority of hotels are to verify a valid ID and credit card for security purposes. In addition, in order to honor a special discounted rate such as a State Government, Federal government or even AAA rate, majority of hotels do need to see proper credentials. In regards to special requests, our hotel like most hotels will do their best to accommodate any special request such as room location but is never a guarantee. On your most recent stay with us we did accommodate your request. If you have concerns about your requests on future stays, please contact us on day of your arrival prior to getting to the hotel to see if we are able to accommodate your request. Again, thank you for sharing your feedback and we hope you will stay again in the future.

I was very impressed. During the height of the covid-19 emergency, this hotel was very clean and the staff seemed to take the precautions very seriously.
The room was comfortable. Air conditioner was loud, but it was effective. Nice swimming pool and hot tub.
This hotel gets a rare 5 star review.

I travel here n there and while I mostly backpack and camp in the great outdoors; when those times arise when I just need the comforts of home - I stay here. The Holiday Inn in Auburn.
The staff is great, friendly, accommodating and professional. The rooms are clean, well maintained and the environment feels safe. They offer a breakfast at a reasonable price and it far exceeds expectations. I've not used the gym or pool but have looked at them, they too are well maintained and clean.
I've stayed here often enough to know these characteristics are the norm for this Hotel, they are consistent.
I hope you all enjoy your stay here as much as I do.

We were stuck on HWY 80 due to a winter closure and called to reserve a last minute room. Shannon assured us they had one room left and took my credit card information to confirm, after several minutes on hold where she was "confirming". In 15 minutes she called me back saying "nevermind" they no longer had a room, with others in the background- clearly she sold the room to someone else for more. At this point we had been stuck in traffic for >3 hours with 2 little kids. And I had given her credit card information. AVOID.

Dear Neenak2024, I would like to apologize to you for the negative experience you had with our hotel last Friday. As a parent, I can understand all too well the challenges of a long car rides and tired children. When the pass closed suddenly on Friday evening, the hotel was hit with many calls like yours of travelers looking for rooms. In addition to calls, reservations came in through online, and quite a few people just pulled off the freeway and came into the lobby to inquire about rooms. Many of the people waiting in line started booking reservations on their phones through third party websites as well. All of this caused our inventory to change rapidly. In the time that Shannon was taking to make your reservation, rooms were being booked through websites. After completing your reservations and refreshing the computer the last room she thought she had for you was no longer there. I realize that this explanation does not change the outcome, unfortunately. You were still left without a room and for that I sincerely apologize. I can assure you that there was no attempt to sell the room for a higher rate or given to someone else. The voices you heard were a lobby of people waiting to check in. We have had a meeting since this occurred and have discussed ways to ensure this does happen again when the freeway closes. I am truly sorry we were not able to accommodate your reservation last Friday and for the inconvenience it caused you.

Hotel was perfect for us. But Matt at reception went above and beyond. We left some critical medication in our room and he packaged it on ice and helped get it where we needed it. He couldn’t have been more polite and helpful during a very stressful ordeal. Thank you!

Was greeted with a warm welcome at the front desk by Jose. I just got in after a 3.5 drive and an overall long day. Jose was very accommodating, friendly, and informative. He provided me with a drink voucher and with ample room options, which was unexpected and nice! Breakfast bar was tasty, clean, and the omelette chef is an ace. Please give them with the recognition they deserve. Thank you again for a nice, accommodating stay.
