This is a nice little hotel, inexpensive, and centrally located. The people are very accommodating and the in town restaurant and attraction "deals" they offer are also a nice little extra. Breakfast could be better, but you can't have everything for this price.

Very friendly staff. Small room due to the buildings age and the shower was tiny. Vintage lighting has been well maintained. Cost for hotel room was average for Avalon. We expected as indicated on their website, baked goods and coffee in the morning. Went down to lobby and was surprised to find a few donuts and no decaf coffee. Needless... More

First off, please take into consideration this building and adjacent courtyard are very old buildings. I believe the main hotel is 100 years old. They have done a great job at rehabbing. We stayed in the garden courtyard. We had a ground floor unit which boasts a 55 inch flat screen tv; new Euro style furnishings, and a huge bathroom... More

My wife and I took a post holiday break and spent the night in Catalina. We got a room in the Courtroom Garden Wing and couldn't have been happier. We had a very comfortable King size bed, about a 55" flat screen TV with DVD player, beautiful bathroom with glass shower, Jacuzzi tub and cool stonework. The staff was very... More

I stayed here from October 18-20. The value for what we paid is extraordinary, and it is mainly due to their exemplary customer service. Ignacio was the manager when we stayed and helped us book our ferry reservation. We also had to call him several times before we left to change our reservation because of some delays on our end.... This was our first visit to Avalon so chose Hotel Catalina strictly on availability and Tripadvisor. What a nice surprise. The property is actually two separate sections, each with it's own front desk although both accommodate the entire property. We asked about an upgrade with an ocean view. The front desk clerk was happy to take us up to show... More

Decided last minute to take advantage of the freebies on Catalina Island Labor Day Weekend 2013. Found Hotel Catalina through the Birthday Promotions listing. Due to last minute reservations (6 weeks out), we weren't sure what we'd find. We were thrilled with the room. It was a pleasant stay. The hotel staff was very accommodating. The hotel looks older, but... More

We decided, pretty much at the last minute, in August, to pack up with son, daughter-in-law, a 3 year old and a brand new baby for a few days escape. This was pretty much the only hotel available on such short notice, so our expectations were low. To our surprise, our rooms (3rd floor) were lovely. The beds very comfortable.... More

Nice place, clean, comfortable, nicely furnished, and centrally located. Price $$$ for second level, first level opens up to courtyard. 2 rooms for $220. Good coffee but horrible donuts. Has a courtyard for comfortable reading (cool and quiet). Good place to relax. I would absolutely stay there again. Large sign visible from the docks (we took the Catalina Express $73... More

My husband and I decided to take our children with us on his birthday trip to Catalina. After we got to the island we walked to the hotel and left our luggage with the office. We returned later and checked in. The room was nice, it was spacious. The carpet was dingy though. Our room was near the street and... More
