The service is amazing and the location is perfect and you can have so much fun just walking around. Gave 5 stars but our room did not have a telephone and the service even on their wifi was very weak when in the room. Leave the room to get service. There was no privacy door tag. The room was definitely quirky and no ocean view but bed was comfortable. The perks kind of make it worth it. Pie and ice cream at night. Really awesome breakfast and coffee bar in the morning..FREE. you can get water bottles and ice cream too and popcorn for microwave..FREE. and the rooftop gathering spot is a prefect place to finish the day.
I had been looking for a place that had home feeling to celebrate my 50th birthday since cant travel due to pandemic. After a wk of searching found this place. Called directly and booked the room. Upon entering the lobby my husband was greeted. We were given 205 view of the ocean. Room has mini fridge and microwave. Wifi included. Close to the stairs. Upon entering the room I wanted to stay another night & luckly it was available. We stayed 3 days. Place is quiet and peaceful. Loved the aura of the place. Staff is extremely friendly. Spent mornings walking on the beach. Enjoyed breakfast on the deck and we took advantage on the last night of dessert @ 8 pm. Pie was fresh & DELICIOUS. 2nd morning sent my husband to get coffee and egg breakfast so we can enjoy in the privacy of our balcony. He returns with this croissant with cheese. Let me say this I stop eating croissants now for 10 yrs because loaded with calories but this was worth me breaking my rules. Flakey and buttery. Extremely DELICIOUS. My only regret was not taking advantage of the bikes. We really enjoyed our time and will return. If you have knee problems or illness prevents you from climbing stairs this is not for you. It is an older bldg so no elevator. I didnt mind so I can burn off calories. We had our friends come and visit and told us cant return because it was a challenge for her. No problem we just went to their hotel to visit then returned to our place. Recommend this establishment. Do not hesitate book directly.…
We felt good just walking up to this place for the first time. It's got such sweet touches, with plants and flowers and European-like decor. The staff is friendly and the place is homey as anything. But you know how things are never perfect at home? They're not perfect here, either. For instance, we stayed 5 nights and a bath mat didn't show up 'til our 4th day--and that was the day the face cloths disappeared. The breakfasts are served on a sundeck with an incredible view of the beach! On the 3rd day, though, we showed up halfway through the meal period to find there were no more vegetarian selections. A house is being built next store and the hammering starts at 7am--but who wants to sleep in when there's an ocean to go visit? The thing is, the whole ambiance around this place seems to be, Roll with it. The constant sound of rolling waves helps! So you roll with the imperfections and enjoy the amenities of cruiser bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas and even laundry. Last night we went up to the sundeck and a family was BBQing oysters. They insisted we try them, and they were delicious. This sort of perfection happens here all the time. If you can be easy-going with what's not perfect, you'll have a perfectly wonderful stay. As for us, we'll be back as soon as we can.…
I stayed here with my family back in November and it was absolutely fabulous. The rooms are great, the hotel staff is very friendly and the amenities are amazing! Plus, you can’t beat the location. I cannot wait to come back.
We stayed at the Inn at Avila Beach in December, 2020 just ahead of the latest Covid shutdown. We were celebrating a significant birthday (yep, had a 0 in it), and landed in Avila Beach after our Hawaii trip was canceled. Sunny, 70+ degree, December weather and the Inn at Avila Beach were a good substitute. We were welcomed and treated very well by Darcy at the front desk. The ocean view from our room was amazing, and we really enjoyed the sunsets and falling asleep to the sound of the pounding surf. The street in front of the hotel is quiet, so leaving the door to the balcony open was not a problem (yes, even in December!). We loved the furnished balcony overlooking the beach. In the evening, enjoyed a covid-inspired take-out Birthday dinner from a nearby restaurant on the rooftop Sun Deck of the Inn at Avila. It was amazing watching the stars come out, enjoying our meal and sipping Paso wine by the (gas) fire. Pie and Ice Cream for dessert served up by Evan was incredible, as was the included breakfast the following morning. Individually made Espresso coffee drinks, fresh chocolate croissants, smoothies, and scrambles were all tasty (no mass-produced rubber eggs or plastic-wrapped stale danishes here). The hotel has character, meaning that there are some quirks, cracked tiles, uneven floors, doors that open awkwardly into things, no elevator, an occasional thump from upstairs etc. It is probably a 50+ year old building, but nicely updated, comfortable, reasonably quiet, and clean. It is not a cookie-cutter corporate property. If that is what you are looking for, it may not be for you. But as someone else wrote, it is a family-run business and does a great job emanating the vibe of a sleepy beach town. There are a variety of rooms available with different features and themes. Our room was well equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, fireplace, Smart TV, and jacuzzi tub. The room didn’t have an abundance of outlets, so bring your own power strip for recharging anything more than a phone or two. We enjoyed talking with a masked Evan and learning more about the area. The hotel staff was also friendly and visible wiping, cleaning, and following Covid protocols. Daily housekeeping was available if you left your room door-hanger out requesting it. They are doing a great job of “making it work” during these unusual times. We stayed 2 nights, and wish we had more time to enjoy more of the amenities. We are looking forward to another visit soon!…
