Our family had this vacation threw Make A Wish. It was better than we could have imagined. The owners, employees, and the guests were wonderful. My son is in treatment for leukemia and also has Down syndrome. Our son was included in every activity the other kids were with open arms. My husband and I felt completely comfortable leaving our son...

I've just returned from my 16th visit to Rainbow Trout Ranch, and as always I'm certain I'll be going back again next year. The first year that I went to Rainbow Trout I was eight years old, and was a part of their "Cowpoke" (kids from 6-11) program. I have since gone through the kids and teen programs, and now,...

If you are stuck in CRUISE control for family vacations, please consider Rainbow Trout Ranch instead! We took our children and grandchildren and it was amazing to see how all ages enjoyed themselves...our 5&7 year olds even cried when it was time to leave (and this crowd is not easily impressed!) The Van Berkums have the formula for how to...

Wow--what a wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time to post it. We very much appreciate it. And Doug received the Little Britches book in the mail and it can only be from you all--many thanks on his behalf. He is reading it every night and recounts it to all of us at staff breakfast which we...

Rainbow Trout Ranch is the perfect place to go for beautiful scenery, friendly people and fun activities. Although many people were there with their kids or grand kids, I went alone and enjoyed everything so much. The Van Burkums and the staff are welcoming and filled with gracious hospitality. The main lodge(where you dine, dance and laze on the porch)...

I just returned from my vacation and had to write about the wonderful time we had at Rainbow Trout Ranch. I have four kids, ages 9, 12, 17, and 20. Therefore, sometimes planning a vacation can be tough since their interests vary. This ranch met and exceeded my expectations. The staff was 100% accommodating, kind and entertaining. My whole family...

It was our first experience at a "dude" ranch, and we did not know what to expect. This "resort" is nestled in the middle of the Conejos River Valley in southern Colorado. The drive up from Chama is spectacular and it only gets better as you arrive to the long winding driveway up the mountain to the resort. We were...

So for purposes of full disclosure I have to admit I worked at RTR for a summer, however, before I worked there I was a guest there. I spent the next 3 years begging the owner to hire me for a summer and 3 years later she finally did... it was one of the best summer's of my life. 15...

Wow Brad! What a kind, gracious, and very unexpected review. Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for taking the time to write it. We've enjoyed your family over the years--when you came here, when you worked here, and now having had your own family here. We love the connections that happen with dude ranching, and this is...

We visited in July 2014. They have great kids' programs (all ages) and it worked great for getting together with extended family. My son has started riding lessons at home as a result of our time there.

We are so delighted to hear that your son has taken up riding because of his RTR experience--that is wonderful! We take great pride in our kids' and teen programs, as well as the fact that families can ride together if they prefer. ~~The Van Berkum Family

This marked our 17th consecutive year at RTR. Though my sons are well beyond the age group of the Teen Program, they still participate in the World's best Capture The Flag game, as well as fishing with them following the afternoon horseback rides. They've stayed in touch with a number of the guests and counselors they've met through the Teen...

Thank you so much for the review. We are one of the few guest ranches that offers a full teen program and it has been so popular over the years. It isn't nearly as structured as the kids' programs--it is up to the counselor and the teens to work out a great plan each week--and they have such fun with...
