Explore the amazing underwater world of Glovers Reef from our comfortable safari-style camp on the furthest reaches of the Belize reef system. This low impact facility is designed to be a comfortable base to explore the amazing setting, but to have a minimal impact to this tropical island-treasure. Our amazing guides will teach you the wonders of sea kayaking and snorkeling, while our resident marine biologist will teach you about the surrounding marine ecology.

When plans were changed at the last minute because of Covid disruptions, I found myself on idyllic Southwest Cays on Glover's Reef sleeping in a tent cabana with a view of the turquoise Caribbean. My three nights were packed full of kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, birding and just plain loving life! The staff is exceptional and a big thanks to Stephen, Keon, Tiana and cook Cindy. Island Expeditions knows how to show you the best of Belize!

What an incredible time we all had on this amazing island located within a protected Marine preserve off the coast of Belize. I was skeptical--36 miles off shore, tent cabins, compost toilets....but any worries I had immediately disappeared upon our arrival. The tent cabins were perfect, the facilities well maintained (thanks Tio) and the staff were simply exceptional. Our kids, 10 & 7, had so much fun running around the island, playing paddle ball, looking for lizards and scanning the water for fish (and there were plenty). Each activity was so well planned, taking into account our interests and weather conditions. We were able to snorkel multiple times, including a night snorkel (incredible), paddle board and kayak. Though the weather wasn't ideal, the expert guides ceased every opportunity to keep us active and engaged--thank you Budge and Keon. The cook, Miss D, was amazing--even my picky kids always found something yummy to eat. She even cooked up the lion fish we speared during one of our snorkel trips and served it for happy hour ;-). Our entire stay was nothing short of spectacular. If you're looking for something unique, eco-friendly and stunningly beautiful, this is your place!

We were originally booked for Lighthouse Reef with Island Expeditions, but I passed out on the boat out. Island Exp turned boat around and got me to a dr. When I was OK, they then let my husband and I go to Glover's Reef with them at no extra charge. Amazing company! Glover's Reef was fabulous. Amazing snorkelling with coral, many fish and even nurse sharks. Great guides with Island Expeditions. Yummy food too.

I booked the Glover’s Reef 4 day SUP expedition with Norm Hann through Island Expeditions and had a phenomenal trip! 😊 IE were super organized and helpful and very friendly, checking in to make sure I had everything set, and providing lots of info on what I needed for the excursion. My experience was amazing! The base camp on Glover’s Reef is beautiful and comfortable, the guides knowledgeable, safety conscious, passionate and enthusiastic about sharing the beauty and culture of Belize. I didn’t want to leave. A slice of heaven with turquoise ocean and breathtaking sunsets, hammocks artfully placed, morning yoga, and as much snorkeling and paddling as one wanted. Laughter and experiences of adventures shared during the wonderful Belizian meals with all the camp inhabitants. Belikin and Belizian rum for happy hour, or another snorkel if one prefers. Or quiet time. Nurse sharks, eagle rays, Caribbean squid, giant angel fish and a huge variety of of other marine life were our rewards during the times we snorkelled around the Belize Barrier Reef. The SUP experiences...paddling the inner reef, riding the swells along the outer reef, downwinding, surfing, exploring mangrove areas and white sand beaches and watching the grace of another eagle ray flying under water beneath ones board. If you do this trip you will be captured in the moment, perhaps trying to capture the moments, but unable to completely. So it will be in your head, as one of the best things you’ve ever chosen to do. Perhaps you’ll learn how to hand-line, and pull in a Barracuda that will be served for dinner, as I did. Maybe you’ll see your first ever Nurse Shark. Or you’ll just fall off your board onto the clear blue bathtub waters that won’t quite cool you down. And maybe, if you’re really lucky, when you leave...a pod of playful dolphins will come by your boat and skip and spin and confirm that you really did find heaven on earth. But that’s only if you say yes. And you should definitely say yes to this experience 😊

We spent 4 nights at Glovers Reef Basecamp in January and it was amazing. Our guides were incredible and very personable. They really went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. Our cook was fantastic and everything was made fresh. Including the lobsters and fish we caught. This island and all of the staff truly gave us a little piece of paradise.

Myself, my husband, sister-in-law in-law and brother-in-law recently spent four days on this lovely Caye. The staff were all fantastic. The instructions and encouragement for every activity was outstanding. Fantastic food, great folks, lots of laughs and the most stunning scenery! The wall tents were great! Thanks so much Steve, Comps, Freddie and Barge. We miss you all!

We stayed here for 4 days just before Christmas in a family tent. Steve, Mario and Keon were fantastic guides who went over and above to make sure we had the best time. They were also extremely knowledgeable and could tell you the name of almost everything - even the constellations (Steve). Thanks to "Freddie the cook" the food was amazing, I had been worried that my picky eater children would not like the food but they always found something to eat and loved the fried jacks. The excursions were varied and easily manageable for the children. We snorkeled, kayaked, paddle boarded, fished and did yoga. The snorkeling was out of this world, so much coral and so much sea life. We were buzzing about it for days! The whole island was super clean and well managed, including the compost toilets and showers (thanks Alexis and the groundsmen). Freddie cooked a feast for dinner on Christmas Eve and Santa left us all gifts of hot sauce and jam when we woke in the morning!!! The whole trip was perfect and really made our holiday.

An hour out at sea, Glover’s run by Island Expeditions is a great experience. We did snorkeling by day (beautiful fish, a 200 year old corral, sparkling green and clear sea, sharks, sting rays...) and by night (2 octopuses). Kayaking, fishing, SUP and even hammock surfing. Good homecooked meals, a very helpful team of guides and a delightful seaview. They try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. You stay in a lovely tent (sea view guaranteed), showers and toilets are communal but effective and easy. Highly recommend for eco friendly adventerous travellers of every skill level

Island Expeditions' website is easy to navigate, anticipates almost all that a potential guest needs to know, and gives links to relevant, necessary, exceedingly helpful information. After studying each trip offered, the explicit description of each, and the accommodation involved, we chose Glover's Getaway--it ticked all of our "Want!" boxes. IE provided the most hand-holding travel experience we've ever had! The very detailed pre-trip information package was invaluable; we printed everything to study over the weeks ahead, resulting in our feeling very confident of being completely prepared for our particular adventure. The condition of the Glovers Reef basecamp was exceptional: housekeeping staff worked pre-dawn to dusk to maintain the grounds and ensure cleanliness of the washrooms. Kayaking guides ensured that boats and gear were clean and ready-to-go. Mindful of potential restrictions imposed by weather, each day they came up with interesting activities aimed at fulfilling guests' expectations. The snorkelling leaders knew just where to find critters and coral for us to marvel at, always explaining what we were seeing. The kitchen team consistently prepared appetizingly generous, appetizingly presented, delicious meals--well-planned for nutrition, flavours, and textures. Our Glovers Reef Getaway exceeded anticipations! The teams vary during a season and from one year to the next; we admire the evident skill with which Island Expeditions acquires such effective employees.
