My wife and I have been to Belize Dive Haven 4-5 times, probably more than any other guests. The trip is always good because we have time to spend with other divers and it's a chance to get away, in general. Again, we've been there multiple times, but mainly because we follow Cardinal, the dive master there. The staff is generally spectacular. There are often a few hitches in the gitty up, like not bringing luggage up to our room, getting stuck in the elevator on two different trips, etc. but in general, the staff is great. The hotel is a bit of an oddity as it's a huge, and mainly unoccupied hotel on a small island in the middle of the Caribbean. Our last visit in November was only a few weeks after a hurricane hit the island. There was only one other family there. (So a total of 6 people that occupied a total of 3 rooms of the 90 rooms available). The pool was algae green, the elevator wasn't fully functional, the sliding glass door to the balcony on our "VIP" room was very difficult to open; maybe because it was bent in the storm. People have mentioned the food in previous reviews. If your looking for white-glove service, then this probably isn't the place for you. The food is fine. Yes, there is a lot of rice and chicken served, but the food is more than adequate and not "bad". This last trip is almost definitely our last trip to that location. My guess is that what must be overwhelming expenses associated with maintaining a property of that size in remote location will preclude Sir Hakimi from continuing that business. Again, the staff is great, the food is ok, and the diving is awesome mainly because of Cardinal and the boat captains.

I'll start by saying "10 Star Service" from all the staff. Thank you, Shawn, David, Philip, Z, Deserae, and everyone else. You treated us like family from start to end. I traveled to Turneffe Island with DiveAddicts and it was the trip of my Life. Made new friends, enjoyed all the fun adventures and experienced the best diving of my life. I'm a new diver, but it's going to be hard to beat this trip. Considering hurricane Lisa hit the island 2 days prior to our arrival, it was absolutely AMAZING. Belize Dive Haven resort is a new resort with few reviews but I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to the hard work, sweat, and tears of the staff, Dive Haven pulled off an AMAZING trip for all of us. The diving was spectacular!!! All of the staff were professional & friendly!!! The kitchen and crew provided 3 delicious meals a day!!! (and I mean delicious). If anything, they fed us too much too often and everything was delish. Considering I ate vegetarian the entire time I was there, TOP NOTCH, and kudos to Chef Dave and Pastry Chef Z. Loved the fresh muffins and bread every morning-YUM!!! Oscar, our bartender, had so many mixed drinks and cocktails, that every day was a new experience. Special thanks to Captains Jermaine & “Crunch”, and dive masters DenRoy, Matthew (Matteiu), Roy & Cardinal. Again, I'm a new diver and they made this trip an experience I will never forget. The boats, captains & dive masters put safety first while keeping everything light and fun!!! Many in our group were experienced divers but many were new divers & many of them mentioned this dive operation as “the best they’ve ever had”. Thank you, Shawn, Cardinal, DenRoy and all for the fabulous memories & I will see you again with my family in tow" The only tough issue we experienced, as a group or individuals, were the relentless No-See-Ums. Mosquitos I can deal with, but those No-See-Ums were AWFUL. Thank you again, everyone... LOVE - Waltina

Belize Dive Haven resort is an ambitious project, but thanks to the sweat and tears of its staff, this place has made quite a few improvements. And as always: the diving was spectacular!! Sargassum managed daily by the groundskeepers. Three delicious meals provided by two chefs & a pastry chef (fresh muffins in the morning-yum!). Oscar at the bar mixing more types of blended drinks than I can count. Kitchen and hotel support staff were all very professional & friendly!! And possibly the main agent for change is the hard work & collaboration between the resort manager, Shawn & dive operation manager Cardinal. Honestly, If you could bottle sunshine, it would be Shawn. Cardinal has been in the business a long time & it shows. The boats, captains & dive guides put safety first while keeping everything light and fun!! Special thanks to Captains Jermaine & “Crunch”, guides DenRoy, “King” James, Matthew (Matteiu), Roy & Rodney!! Many in our group are experienced divers & more than one mentioned this dive operation as “the best they’ve ever had”. Thank you all for the memories & I hope to see you again soon

The resort was like a mansion with several large pools (one with a swim up bar and bar stools in the pool.) We were in the Ocean View with 2 Kings size beds and the view off the balcony was beautiful. The Chef made incredible meals (we had 3 hot meals / day.) He would also accommodate any special needs anyone might have. Food was fantastic and everything was fresh (juices, fish, vegetables, fruits…) We did 12 dives in 4 days (one was a night dive.) Mark one off our Bucket List— we dove the Great Blue Hole!! One went down to 163 feet; rest of us at 130’s feet down to see the stalactites. One of my favorite dives was at the Half Moon Caye where we swam with sharks!! They were so close one of us petted a couple of their tails!! (No. We were not in a cage.) We saw: Juvenile spotted drum!!! (They have no spots!), Adult spotted drum, Scorpion fish, Spotted frog fish, Tiger grouper, Dolphins, Cuttle fish, Lion fish, Fuzzy cucumber.. just to name a few. Did I say we PETTED sharks and Nassau grouper?? BUT. Here’s the best part of it all. As magnificent of a resort and all the dives was, what tops all of that is the STAFF!! They worked hard to make sure we were as happy as we can be! Every Single Staff member!! Can’t give enough Kudos to them. Especially the manager Shawn. We WILL be back and with a bigger group!

I spent 5 days at Belize Dive Haven (BDH) specifically to tour the resort for scuba clients and to dive the Turneffe Atoll. Although we had an unusual multi-day loss of power due to equipment failure, which can regularly occur in central America and the Caribbean, the resort staff and guests made the best of it. BDH is located 20+ miles offshore and one can't just drive over to a Home Depot for repair parts. Without exception, the staff, led by Assistant Manager Shawn Waight, was very friendly and efficient. The property is well maintained and since this was the beginning of their season, staff was still in the process of gearing up for high season. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and my third-floor room had a patio with 2 chairs and a table overlooking the massive pool and ocean. I wish there was an ice machine available in the main building, but ice was available at the bar. Food was excellent, with three entrees served buffet style, available at each of three meals. Now the diving. I have dived throughout the Caribbean and the dive operation was first class. Led by Cardinal and his staff, including but not limited to our boat captain, Jay, we had incredible dives with a great variety of aquatic life observed on each and every dive. Cardinal was aggressive in locating the critters on every dive as compared to some dive operations where the dive leader only goes through the motions. The dive briefings were detailed and the crew did a good job with ensuring guest safety. I spoke to other guests that were on different boats and they had the same impression of the dive operation. The Turneffe Atoll was beautiful and more pristine than many other dive locations. You will likely not see any other dive boats while out on the water. I am rating BDH "Excellent" even though we had the power issues which I assume was an "act of God" issue and wouldn't be the norm.

My friend and I had an absolutely splendid time diving the Turneffe Atoll and surrounding areas with Dive Haven. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and professional, and a lot of fun to hang out with! The marine life was stunning, we had never seen so much biodiversity! The pool and bar at the island were great places to relax after dives and the rooms had AC and some comfortable beds to rest up for the next days dives. Wonderful trip that we would totally repeat!

The rooms were spacious but the bathrooms were small. However; we did not mind the size of the bathroom it fit our needs fine. The staff was very friendly and nice and wanted to make your stay special. Belize Dive Haven is a resort for diving only. If you are not a diver this is not the resort for you! If you are a diver The Dive Master and Captain of the boat are a lot of fun and you feel very safe on and off the boat. Cardinal the Dive Master is all about safety and points out lots of interesting coral fish and different habits on the dive! The captain Aron was always right there when we got to the surface to pick us up. The only two things I would say about the resort is it does need some minor up keeps like new canvas and pillows on some of the couches and common area seating areas. If you want to go to The Blue Hole you need to have 8 or more divers on the island so if you don't have eight going in your party you may want to check to see if there are eight people at the resort who want to go to The Blue Hole! We actually got to meet the owner and his family and they were just as nice as the staff!

My wife and I took a much needed dive vacation at Belize Dive Haven in May of 2022. This is a postponed trip from 2020 due to COVID. First of all, it was incredibly generous for Belize Dive Haven to maintain our credit for this vacation for 2 years. We could have easily lost that money, but they did the right thing and allowed everyone to keep their credit for this trip with the unprecedented global pandemic. We were picked up at the airport once several other guests had arrived and taken to the marina where there is a restaurant so we could get some lunch and sit for a bit while we waited for the remainder of the guests going to the island that Saturday. Since the boat ride is 45-60 minutes to the atoll, there is only one trip to the atoll to take everyone there. The pool is impressively large, the rooms are quite spacious. There was 2 king sized beds in our room for just the 2 of us. The bathroom was oddly small for such a large room, and the shower was small. BDH had chosen a multi jet spray shower, but none of that was really working. Only our hand sprayer was working, but that was fine. We understand that it is very difficult to maintain equipment in a very salt air conditions as on an atoll. We were put on the 4th floor along with several of the other dive guests that were there for this week and the view was very nice. We had a bit of an issue with our AC unit, and the staff was very quick to try to resolve the issue. The manager insisted that no one “suffer in silence” and to bring all issues to them so that they can address it immediately. Let me address the problem in the Caribbean called the sargassum bloom. It has been an issue on EVERY Caribbean island we’ve been to. May seems to be particularly bad and the smell of sulfur permeated the air. There is really nothing that BDH can do about that, especially on a small atoll. It would take massive amounts of heavy machinery to try to haul all the sargassum off the beach and haul it somewhere else. We were there to go scuba diving, so we didn’t sit on the beach. Quite frankly, 3 dives a day really wears you out. We took advantage of the pool some, but the beach was pretty unusable. Again, not a situation unique to BDH nor is it something under their control. If your planning on just laying on the beach, perhaps pick a time when the sargassum isn’t going to be a problem. Let’s talk about the diving. My wife and I have done dives all around the world including the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and some of our favorite diving in Cozumel. The dives here at BDH are spectacular! I would dare say that it is the best diving we’ve ever done. There are reef sharks and spotted eagle rays on every dive. Moray eels and nurse sharks everywhere. Turtles are abundant and curious. The reefs are in great shape and the marine life is simply second to none. We were there for one week, 17 dives total, and our group saw hammerhead sharks on 3 of the 17 dives! I’m not saying that if you come to BDH that you’re going to see a hammerhead while diving, but the odds were pretty good while we were there diving. We had at most 11 people on the boat diving all week. Most of the time, it was less than that, so you get to know the people you are diving with and not feel like you’re jammed on to a boat with 30 some people go to diving. It was a great setting to go diving. The dive crew was phenomenal! Cardinal was our dive master most of the time with Roy joining us when he wasn’t doing a certification lesson with Scuba Steve. On the last night of the trip, Roy shed a tear when Scuba Steve was telling him how when she first got there, she thought there was no way she would be certified. But Roy was so patient with here and thought her so much. She couldn’t have done it without him. It was a very touching moment, and it goes to show that the dive staff really have a connection with the divers. Captain Crunch was our boat captain the entire week and he prefers to be called Captain Crunch. He may be the funniest of the bunch, but you have to get his humor to know when he’s kidding. He’s kind of a troll, in a good way. He heard that I worked for NASA and kept telling me how he thought that the moon was not in “space”. He’s hilarious. The cleaning staff was very attentive and nice. They made it a point to make sure we had everything we needed. The dining staff had breakfast, lunch, and dinner ready on time. The food was always different and tasty. The chef came out to greet us and ask us if there were any special needs or requests. If I have one note for the chef, it would be that the short ribs need to be cooked or braised for a longer period of time. It was a bit tough and it was a shame for such a great piece of meat. The manager, Naomi was very accommodating. It’s wonderful that she makes time to address any of our concerns. If you’re going to visit BDH, bring insect repellent. For those who frequent Caribbean islands or atolls, you’ll know that what the locals call “don’t see ums” or sand fleas, can be a problem. Several people in our group didn’t bring any bug spray and they immediately regretted not bringing some. They bought some from the gift shop after the first night. Usually, there is quite a decent breeze in the dining area, so it’s not that much of a problem, but trust me, bring insect repellent. You’ll be thankful that you did. We had a wonderful time diving and getting to know the new dive friends on this trip. People that we’re still all talking to and thinking of planning another dive trip. Perhaps right back to BDH! It really was the best big sea life diving that we’ve ever done. It was well worth the trip and we’re definitely considering going back. Not just for the diving, but for the wonderful people who work there. They really made us feel like family.

My husband and I visited Belize Dive Haven in May 2022, as part of a group trip arranged by our local dive shop. We weren’t sure what to expect because there have been so few reviews of the resort and dive operation since BDH opened… but as soon as we arrived, our concerns vanished. This place is a gem. The resort itself is beautiful and rises like a mirage out on its own private part of the atoll. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with plenty of space, and nice balconies overlooking the large pool or the boat dock. Water coolers were available on every floor of the hotel. Both pools were well-maintained and gorgeous. The open-air dining areas are convenient and comfortable, dive boats are well equipped and safe. The staff – reception, housekeeping, dive, dining, and maintenance – were all friendly, kind, and quick to help with questions or any minor issues that came up. Meals were even better than we expected. The chef and his staff went out of their way to make sure we ate well, with a great variety of dishes throughout the week. Every meal included a choice of mains, sides, and dessert. The chef's homemade hot sauce, blackened barracuda, and pizza night (140+ pizzas made in two woodburning ovens!) were standouts. When he realized our group included a vegetarian and someone with a food allergy, he spoke seriously with each individual to make sure he understood their needs, and then immediately adjusted his menus to accommodate them. He even arranged a special group dinner for us on our last evening, in the lounge area at the end of the pier. Every day's diving was somehow better than the last. Our dive crew was led by Cardinal, who has a special love for this place; Roy, a marine biologist who is excited to point out every animal to the group; and Captain Crunch, who expertly dropped us at exactly the right spot on every reef, and was always there to pick us up safely, no matter the current. Roy took charge of certification dives for a new diver in our group and it was lovely to see her gaining confidence and getting so much enjoyment out of her new hobby. (Steve, you're one of us now!) We saw sharks on every single dive, including three hammerheads, and turtles and eagle rays daily. The sites were in great condition, with excellent visibility and healthy reefs. The dive crew was clear about their safety requirements and made sure we had thorough briefings on each site, and set up an efficient daily procedure so we knew what to expect. They gave extra help with entries and exits to anyone who needed it. They also made it fun with two full-day trips scheduled during our week, including the Blue Hole and a wreck dive at the Witconcrete, with a picnic lunch included. We were a little hesitant about this trip because it's a new resort, relatively remote, and we couldn't find much information about it online. Now, I'd go back in a heartbeat. The setting is fantastic, and the diving is top notch, but it's the people who really made this trip amazing.

My friend and I stayed at Belize Dive Haven from May 7 to 14, 2022 and had an absolutely fantastic time! Everyone associated with BDH, from the airport collection through to our final farewell, was very friendly and as helpful as could be. Wonderful drinks at the bar, the Chef made some super vegetarian dishes for my friend, the servers and cleaning staff were always there with a smile and greeting. The rooms were large and comfortable with decent showers and a balcony to dry our suits. The food was varied and good, often a little bit spicy, always flavourful. The pools are huge. But I was there to dive so our dive crew gets special mention, of course. Our main guide was Cardinal with ‘Captain Crunch’ manning the boat. Roy joined us halfway through the week after one of the other divers finished her certification training. The skill demonstrated by the team was obvious in their selection of interesting sites and guiding safe dives, entries and exits. Top this off with them being fun and interesting people and it made for wonderful camaraderie! I saw more reef sharks on this trip than any other, turtles and eagle rays almost every day, and a hammerhead! My first, so very exciting! It took three separate days of sitings before everyone in the group saw the elusive character! And while it’s often hard to find the little guys, I did spot a red tipped sea goddess and rough head blenny and Cardinal pointed out my first arrow blenny! There’s no shore diving but all the dive sites are close to the resort so there were no long boat rides either (except for the trip to and from the resort). Visibility was great every day; most sites had very little current and the currents that were present on a couple of sites were still quite manageable for my older body and short fins. A great mix of walls, reef and sand. Healthy coral. All in all a wonderful dive trip to remember!
