Belize Dive Haven Resort & Marina is often praised for its spacious and comfortable rooms, with the added benefit of effective air conditioning, although some guests have noted maintenance issues. While the hotel is celebrated for its cleanliness and the wide range of diving options, guests feel that it does not provide good value, criticizing the overpricing of amenities and the lack of services included in the price. The lively atmosphere, featuring music and karaoke, along with the Roman-inspired decor, is a highlight for many. Additionally, the staff's attentiveness and friendliness frequently receive accolades, contributing positively to the overall guest experience.

BDH is a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. If you are a diver, you will experience top class diving with knowledgeable and professional staff. If you are not a diver like myself, you will enjoy beautifully landscaped grounds, two large rain water swimming pools and tranquil time on the beach or by the pool. All the beach and outdoor furniture is new and very luxurious. Rooms are air conditioned, marble floors, well furnished and beds are very, very comfortable. Every member of the staff we have encountered was very helpful, kind and accommodating. Yes, the resort still has some work to be completed and not all listed facilities were in place during our stay in mid December, but it did not prevent us from having relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Meals were home cooked and delicious, very dietary restriction or wish was fulfilled by the kitchen staff.

I read the reviews and they are all correct. The diving and the room accommodations are good but the resort, pools, beach, and food are not. In fact the food was so bad we had a list of the top 10 awful foods!

But the diving was fantastic and It is only an hour from the resort to the Blue Hole. Denroy, (King) James, and (Captain) Terrell are 3 of the best dive crew you could hope for and they served us fresh caught Lion Fish ceviche that was delicious.

The resort is spartan with very little to offer except nice rooms and excellent house keeping and service staff.

A few things to note.
It is an hour boat ride from the mainland and you will wait at the Marina Cantina
until everyone has arrived to head to the resort.
If you don't pay for the drink package the beverages (water and juice) are served at meals only and a bottle of water is $5
The bugs are awful bring lots of bug spray and use it regularly.
The is nothing worth purchasing in the gift shop and no food at the resort except at meals. Bring your own snacks and treats, your stomach will thank you.
They take everyone back to the mainland at the same time in the morning so if you have a late flight you will spend the day in the airport.
And most of all, the diving is great enjoy!

Belize Dive Haven is more than just a diver’s dream; it’s the staff that really makes this resort special! The dive crew of Max, James, D-Ron, Tony and Caesar were extremely knowledgeable when it came to the surrounding reefs. They even were willing to work with me on my Dive Master internship.

When we weren’t diving, the entertainment crew consisting of Zane, Tariq and Erwin were always available to turn the party up when the sun went down. The staff even joined us on select nights to teach us a local dance called Punta as well a drum show by the talented Tony and Erwin. We were told that we were the first group to get up on the bar and dance, hoping the tradition sticks around! 

The food was delicious too, consisting of local beans, rice, chicken and plantains (just to name a few). Chef Luis was even willing to provide special meals for anyone that had food restrictions/preferences. We hunted a lot of lionfish on this trip and Luis was more than happy to prepare our catch of the day.

While we were on our trip, my husband celebrated his birthday. The entire staff dropped everything to make his day the best birthday he’s ever had. From Hawaiian leis that were specifically ordered for the occasion to the cake that was homemade by the kitchen, they spared no time or expense in making it a memorable celebration.

There are also plenty of things for non-divers to entertain themselves with during the day, from the extra-large pools, to kayaks, snorkeling and flats fishing. The Resort staff was always willing to help with gear for these activities.

While there are some construction projects happening at the resort, I never once felt that it took away from our experience. I can tell you, I’m excited to come back in a year or so to see what improvements have been made.

We loved BDH and will miss the friends we made; well they actually feel more like family….and honestly that’s always how I feel after I leave Belize. It really was UNBELIEZEABLE!

Simply put they have a fraction of the items they mention on their site, they aren't close to ready for opening and if you want to do anything but diving you'll be disappointed.

Listed: 2 restaurants, a Spa, a bar at the end of a pier, 5 star resort and white sand beach.

Actual: 1 kitchen where a single option is offered at set times with few options for changes and no snacks (not even for purchase), no spa, no bar at the end of the pier and a massive unfinished hotel where staff are hard to find, and forgetful. The beach is small and typically you'll be attacked by bugs (not in the hotel's control, but makes it hard to enjoy the beach) unless the wind is in your favor. With no bathroom doors and windows into the shower, the rooms have little privacy and little sound blocking from room to room.

The diving was lovely and the guides educated and helpful, but for a dive resort with 90+ rooms, they didn't even have enough rental equipment for the less than 20 guests on the property at the time. That meant we both had to dive in illfitting wetsuits. Truly, not a single part of this resort is ready for guests!!!

I spent 5 days at Belize Dive Haven (BDH) specifically to tour the resort for scuba clients and to dive the Turneffe Atoll. Although we had an unusual multi-day loss of power due to equipment failure, which can regularly occur in central America and the Caribbean, the resort staff and guests made the best of it. BDH is located 20+ miles offshore and one can't just drive over to a Home Depot for repair parts. Without exception, the staff, led by Assistant Manager Shawn Waight, was very friendly and efficient.

The property is well maintained and since this was the beginning of their season, staff was still in the process of gearing up for high season. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and my third-floor room had a patio with 2 chairs and a table overlooking the massive pool and ocean. I wish there was an ice machine available in the main building, but ice was available at the bar. Food was excellent, with three entrees served buffet style, available at each of three meals.

Now the diving. I have dived throughout the Caribbean and the dive operation was first class. Led by Cardinal and his staff, including but not limited to our boat captain, Jay, we had incredible dives with a great variety of aquatic life observed on each and every dive. Cardinal was aggressive in locating the critters on every dive as compared to some dive operations where the dive leader only goes through the motions. The dive briefings were detailed and the crew did a good job with ensuring guest safety. I spoke to other guests that were on different boats and they had the same impression of the dive operation. The Turneffe Atoll was beautiful and more pristine than many other dive locations. You will likely not see any other dive boats while out on the water.

I am rating BDH "Excellent" even though we had the power issues which I assume was an "act of God" issue and wouldn't be the norm.

Went to the resort and did have 17 totally amazing dives. Our dive master Jody was incredible and so were Matthew and Cardinal on the dive boats. The accommodations were not good at all. No hot water for a couple of days, no tissues in the room, coffee service, and we could only watch Netflix - no news channels. Food was not that good and nothing was available to eat between dives. The small gift shop had no food to eat. We ate in a covered location that was open to the outdoors and had to totally coat ourselves in bug spray but were eaten by mosquitos and noseeums. The cost of departing COVD test went from $50, to $55 to $75. The people who work there were amazing and helpful and very friendly. If it wasn't for the people I would give the resort only 1 star.

Here is the good. Amazing friendly people that will try hard to make you feel welcome. Its also a great place to dive. The location is beautiful. Visited with a diving group and nobody would come back. That means a lot. The place is 90% there but for sure you will miss that 10 %. The A/C was not working on several rooms on the first night. You would think that if guests are coming you would verify that everything is in working order. No bathroom towels or soap. We had to borrow from the room next door because we couldn't find the office people. We had two days without hot water. There is not Cable TV which is fine given that there is internet but the TV is not connected to the internet so its just a fixture on the wall. Why would you need a TV you may ask. Because you can not be outside unless you cover yourself in bug spray 24/7. Even then the bugs will get you and by the end of the week you will look like the people on naked and afraid. You try to seat by the pool and good luck with the mosquitoes. Even for those who drink the evening can be challenging trying to seat at the bar without using bug spray every 5 min. If you need something you can always call the office. But the phone in the room does not work. You can go directly to the office but there is no one there because they are so short of staff that everybody is running around. You can see the maintenance guy helping on the kitchen between fixing the A/C or the hot water. The food is Caribbean food. Expect lots of rice with island flavor which I loved. Do not expect restaurant quality, again, you will be camping. There is no food or snacks between meals so bring lots of snacks as you know , you will be hungry after the dives. For the drinkers the drink package only includes soda, local beer and local rum. Does not include wine, tequila , vodka etc. Those one you have to purchase. The prices will be on US dollars and yes they are similar to Miami South Beach prices.

My wife and I have been to Belize Dive Haven 4-5 times, probably more than any other guests. The trip is always good because we have time to spend with other divers and it's a chance to get away, in general. Again, we've been there multiple times, but mainly because we follow Cardinal, the dive master there. The staff is generally spectacular. There are often a few hitches in the gitty up, like not bringing luggage up to our room, getting stuck in the elevator on two different trips, etc. but in general, the staff is great. The hotel is a bit of an oddity as it's a huge, and mainly unoccupied hotel on a small island in the middle of the Caribbean.
Our last visit in November was only a few weeks after a hurricane hit the island. There was only one other family there. (So a total of 6 people that occupied a total of 3 rooms of the 90 rooms available). The pool was algae green, the elevator wasn't fully functional, the sliding glass door to the balcony on our "VIP" room was very difficult to open; maybe because it was bent in the storm. People have mentioned the food in previous reviews. If your looking for white-glove service, then this probably isn't the place for you. The food is fine. Yes, there is a lot of rice and chicken served, but the food is more than adequate and not "bad". This last trip is almost definitely our last trip to that location. My guess is that what must be overwhelming expenses associated with maintaining a property of that size in remote location will preclude Sir Hakimi from continuing that business. Again, the staff is great, the food is ok, and the diving is awesome mainly because of Cardinal and the boat captains.

We just returned from a week long dive trip here and cannot say enough how amazing ALL of the staff was. From the minute we arrived at the Airport we were treated like friends coming for a visit. We were picked up and transported to the harbor where our team greeted us and took us out to the private island resort. The property manager was waiting with a cool towel to freshen up and rum punch! The restaurant staff was very attentive to our every need and again it was like we were old friends. The chef prepared amazing meals and I have to be gluten free and his attention to this was nothing less than amazing, so grateful. The dive team again was superb. Safety was their priority as well as making sure we had the best experience in the water. I could go on and on but will just let you know you will not be disappointed with any aspect of this amazing team!

Brought a group to BDH 7/31-8/7. The resort has a great location for diving being at Turneffe. It’s remote and pretty quiet. The diving was really good and dive staff did an excellent job!! On our boat we had Denroy, James, Brian and Leron. They worked super hard to take care of our group (20 divers), and they were really fun to hang out with. We liked the dive crew a lot, excellent job!!

The resort is really nice, not absolutely perfect, but like a lot of resorts they are on the rebound from the Covid shutdown. My group enjoyed hanging around the grounds and the pools which are very nice! Meals are served at 7, 1 and 7. The food was pretty good, not super high end but pretty normal for a dive resort. It’s important to note that BDH is a great value compared to other Turneffe resorts. The staff at the resort was excellent. Naomi is very nice and is always around to help if needed. In the dining room Brittany and Shalima were awesome, super friendly with nice smiles! Ron and all the bartenders were friendly and fun to hang out with.

While the resort may have some shortcomings, overall we had a great time and would definitely come back. The employees of BDH is their biggest asset, they made the trip special!! Thanks for an awesome trip BDH!!
