This was my first time to Belize and Turneffe and my expectations were exceeded at every level. We are divers and the area provides EPIC sites close to the Island, plus the Blue Hole was a bucket list experience. Our dive master & captain Henry and Harry are total pros. Best dive operation I have ever experienced, and I am an instructor with 1000+ dives all over the world. Despite advanced nature of some of the dives, Henry made sure everything was done safe and proper. Amazing service; beautiful healthy reefs, couldn’t have asked for better dives. The Turneffe staff was great, welcoming and took great care of us. The food was REALLY good. If you are a diver (or salt water fly fisherman) this is the place to go. It’s expensive, yet worth every penny. Will happily return. Thank you Turneffe!…
Everything about this small gem of an island is fantastic. I would give it five stars. Great fly fishing, unbelievable scuba diving and an entire staff that is second to none. I would recommend this resort for anyone who is looking for a quiet get away with fantastic daily activities.
Friendly staff, great food, comfortable beds and rooms, unbelievable view and diving. Best possible way to spend my 50th birthday! We went with another couple and stayed in the 2 room presidential villa with a plunge pool for a week. Booking this villa includes a helicopter ride from the airport upon arrival vs. the 1.5 hour boat ride. What a great way to kick off the week. Our goal was diving and it did not disappoint. Nearly all dive sites with the exception of the blue hole are within 5-10 minutes boat ride from the dock. We had the same GREAT dive master and boat captain Marcel and Charles for the week and not more than 6 were ever in our group. The coral reef is abundant with live and we had reef sharks hanging out with us on every dive. Often we observed spotted eagle rays and on one dive a school of 6 passed nearby. Simply great experiences on every dive. We did our first night dive while there as well. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is at the same time for everyone. I think there were never more than 24 ish guests during our stay. Usually a couple of options each meal and we loved all of the meals. This is not gourmet style but very good with the ocean view and breeze and great service by all of the staff. There is a little happy hour before dinner and people were very friendly and social. I was warned to not book a trip when there is a large dive group there who can be more "clicky". A number of people we met had been to the resort before. Charles our boat captain always had us picked up out of the water in minutes when the dive was done. Concierge service with tanks and gear as well! Hendry and Charles the bartenders were always engaging and attentive. Beds, pillows, sheets were 5 star. We always opted for our outdoor shower over the indoor one. We lucked out with weather in my opinion as it rained most of the day only once. It was windy most of the time but that is probably why we never had any issues with bugs as some people have commented. I highly recommend this place to dive. There were people there with over 1,000 dives under their belt who love this place and are repeat customers too. Take no less than $400 cash per person a week for tipping which is done at the end of the week.…
What an amazing place to vacation. The diving is beyond compare and the staff, equipment and accommodations at TIR were incredible. While it takes a little effort to get there, it is absolutely worth it. Would definitely go back to dive and stay. The food was also great. We were so sorry to leave at the end of our stay. We had gotten to know and like the staff so much that it was hard to say goodbye.
This resort is first class all the way! Top notch service, food, accommodations, and excursions, The staff are obviously very happy to work here which is a huge indicator of our experience as guests. We can't wait to return!
I went to the TIR after a few years of being out of the water and bought their 7 day diving package. They started the week with a test dive to see different people’s skills and we were divided into two groups (more advanced and less advanced). The experience was amazing. They know how to give a personalized service. The morning coffee is a nice touch. It is a small resort and you get to know the staff and the guests well. I travelled solo and it is a good place for solo travellers. Marsel was my dive master and he did a great job of easing me into it. JV, our boat captain, was great in taking us to dive sites and helping with gears, etc. The reefs were very healthy and a short boat ride away from the site. We saw colourful fish, rays, sharks, turtles. There were a number of seasoned divers at the resort and they said they thought it was the best dive in the Caribbean. I would definitely plan to go back!…
Great dive vacation! The shuttles and transfers flawless and fun - I was worried about the effort to get out to TIR and it is so worth it. TIR close to great diving with a healthy reef system for the Caribbean. Very sweet resort with topnotch service and attention to detail. Loved the daily coffee delivery to our room for sunrise sipping. Tasty food plus cocktails & snacks. Pool, crab race, refreshing minty towels - its got it all! Will likely go back.
TIR is still about as good as it gets for a luxury dive vacation. The facilities are great, the reefs are in excellent shape (very little bleaching, lots of life), and the staff is terrific. Special thanks to Iris, Fidel, Hendrey, Aly, Eddie, Chris, and of course, Brad and JV, the dynamic duo of dive guide and boat captain. It's the people behind the scenes whose names I don't know that deserve special recognition...kitchen staff, baggage handlers, housekeeping, maintenance and grounds crew, etc. A lot of coordination goes into the airport-island transfers, the Lighthouse Reef/Blue Hole trip, and the general workings of the day...everything from the Nitrox tanks and food/snacks to the little amenities like front porch coffee service and minty cold towels on the ride to and from Belize City.…
Absolutely perfect week on TIR. Thank you to Ally, Eddie, Chris, Beans, Jessie and the many others for making our vacation so memorable. Everything and everyone was wonderful. The resort accommodates up to 45 guests. It never feels crowded. Our ground floor deluxe unit (R4) was perfect. Spacious, comfortable, and refreshing outdoor shower. The weather was perfect, sunny, with a constant 20 knt easterly wind. The cooling breeze was great for relaxing on our porch, in a hammock or beach chair. We only used the AC at night. Meals are served family style at the central dining area . The food was very good, maybe not gourmet, but still very good. Nice variety and large portions. By midweek I was asking for half portions. Servers are friendly and accommodating. If you don’t like something, just ask. They will try to accommodate you. Desserts were yummy. Happy hour is at outside bar from 6 to 7 each night. Excellent free hor devours. Yes drinks can be expensive, But our priority was on snorkeling, not drinking. We only had one or two drinks each evening. HH was nice place to meet people, and socialize. The 4 dogs provided fun entertainment. Snorkeling was FANTASTIC. Belize reefs are full of life. TIR runs 2 trips each day. 9 AM and 2:30 PM. Each spot was unique. Our guide for the week, Beans, was amazing. Very Knowledgeable, helpful and good at pointing out the sea life. We saw sharks, rays, turtles, and countless other fish colorful fish. We took the bigger dive boats to The Blue hole. Cool snorkeling. Afterwards lunch was served on a small island We also snorkeled 2 additional places. (once from shore). You probably will be bored on TIR if your not a diver, snorkeler, or fisherman. Not a lot to do, after dinner. Misc. Night sky was amazing. Great sunrises each morning. Belize Zoo was excellent. Gustave was fun driver and amazing tour guide.…
Value per experience was not very good. Diving is average , accommodations, we had the honey moon Villa was average and food was in my opinion marginal at best. In a seven day trip there was not one meal I felt like I’d want again, or would pay for in a restaurant. The honey moo. Villa was nice, not over the top juts nice, the couples outdoor shower was nice. The plunge pool was freezing cold and overall I was not overly impressed. Service was always with a smile but they Nickel and dome you for everything. For 10 grand a week nothing is included, only 15 dives and no drinks or alcohol. I’m a light social drinker and I left owing 2600.00 bringing the total spent before garrulity to an outrageous price point versus value. I’d avoid this place if you’re a serious diver. The bar was a shining point and all the staff was super friendly. However again for the price point nothing stood out as above average.…
