We moved here from a hotel in town, on October 3rd, in order to have a way to cook our own food, access to a pool, and also a beach type area on Corozal bay.. seems like a win-win right? It was anything but that. We checked in and moments later the air conditioner turned off. We believed it would be fixed soon, so it was our mistake to stay. Stay we did up until October 7th. The night of October 6th the power went out at 1:45 in the morning. I thought I was being cooked all night long. I don't know if I've ever been so hot. My nebulizer was useless. No fan, no visit from the owner to let us know that she understood what was going on. It was radio silence until 7:30 in the morning when she let us know that she knew the power was out. Now, Penny was very nice the whole time we were there, however, she did not let us know at all that there was grid power in the room by using two outlets in the kitchen (The guest house is on solar) This would have at least allowed us to keep cool with the fan. We ended up checking out, and moving on to Belize City earlier than we expected. The only bright light to this whole entire reservation, was Bailey the dog. We fell in love with this dog. That's the only positive I have.

Love love loved this place. It's clean and immaculately kept. It's peaceful and serene yet close to all the fun activities nearby. Penny , the hostess, is priceless no request was too big or too small. The private beach is rare in this area. Along with the pool it was a perfect place to rest and recharge our batteries. Her home made muffins for the continental breakfast every morning were a delicious delight. No amenities were missing in this tropical paradise.

We were two couples who shared the guesthouse. This was good because we could make our own meals in the kitchen. The space is relatively comfortable but if sharing, be aware that there is only one bathroom. The grounds are lovely and it was wonderful to spend a quiet day reading in the hammocks and enjoying the pool. It must be noted that the ocean swimming is not good as it is very shallow for quite a way out and much of the bottom is weed covered. Good for a quick dip but not for real swimming. However it is nice to see the mangroves incorporated into the beach area. Penny was very helpful with suggestions and advice.

The location is fantastic! Far enough away from town and neighbors that you feel like your in your own little piece of paradise, but not so far that a trip into town is a hassle. Relaxing at the water's edge with a good book and a beer (or two), listening to the waves and enjoying the cool ocean breeze... I could have stayed right there for months. :) We stayed in the guest house. It was comfortable and quiet and had everything you might need. There is no internet in the guest house, but the common room of the main house is available to check your email or browse the web if needed. Frankly, getting away from the internet for a week was far from a bad thing though. The host, Penny, was completely wonderful and accommodating! I'd never stayed at a B&B before and was a little nervous that it might feel like I was just a guest in a stranger's house. But Penny made us feel right at home. If you really want to get away, I couldn't recommend Serenity Sands more highly. I honestly didn't want to leave! :)

Penny is the perfect host! Serenity B&B was restful and so beautiful (pics don't do it justice), the breakfasts were scrumptious, and the dogs are precious. Whether reading on a hammock, sunbathing on the pool deck, or taking a leisurely swim in the crystal-clear pool, you will love your stay! Penny used her great connections to arrange all 3 of our Belize adventures, including snorkeling on the barrier reef and touring the Lamanai Mayan archaeological reserve with an unforgettable river tour! Thank you, Penny (and pat your pups from us)! Matt & Carolyn

Until we stayed at Serenity Sands B&B, my husband and I had forgotten what life without background noise and ambient light was like. So peaceful; so inspiring! This B&B is uniquely eco-friendly in every way and entirely off the grid. The pool was glorious and the pets were friendly. We were very comfortable in our large room; when the air conditioner wasn't on, fans and screened windows kept us comfortable. Breakfast was vegan, varied and delicious, the property was immaculate with many amusing artistic touches, and hosts Don and Penny anticipated our every need and graciously helped us solve an unexpected problem back home. It was a wonderful stay!

It was a great place to stay all off grid. No internet at night but it was fine. The owner Penny was really sweet and the breakfast was amazing. She even allowed us to leave our car for a couple of days while we travelled.

True, the B&B looks great and the rooms large. The bed is quite luxurious, but if the airco is sonly witched on between 5 and 9 pm, that is just not enough to survive the hot Belizean night! The ceiling fan worked, but not nearly enough to cool us. The result was a steaming hot room and a bad rest for the entire family. We understand the eco-theme of the hotel, but we do appreciate a good rest at night; it’s our holiday after all...

My husband and I stayed here for a week in the guest house... we arrived via Belize City and Penny had arranged a taxi service with one of her drivers... Who had to change vehicles along the way as the road to get to Serenity Sands is rough and rocky - normally in any other place I would have felt uneasy to have done this yet... Penny chose a great transfer company for us and we felt like family... He also stopped at the local store for us to get some food items as we were opting out of renting a car and wanted to be sure the guest house had some eats! We would suggest rening a car - the road is rough to and from yet it is quite far from town and to have access to all of that great Belizian food is the way to go ! Check in was the easiest we have experienced - Penny showed us around the guest house and allowed us to get settled after a full day of travelling... In the guest house there is everything you need - from towels, linens, eco friendly soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, a little tv & DVD player ( we did not use), fan in bedroom, cutting board, a seriously great knife ( this knife cut through pineapple with ease!), cups, plates, bowls, mugs, toaster, oven, little fridge, french press, filtered drinking water, kettle, & compost bin ( we just emptied into the compost when full - although Penny offered one of the staff could do it if that is something you do not want to do). Out on the terrace a table and chairs and a hammock that saw alot of use! The grounds are perfection, from all the chirping birds in the morning, the doggies to the spectacular green walk down to the water, there are even vanilla (chocolate) orchids grafted into the trees - the smell is intoxicating! There is even a pool onsite which was part of the reason we did not rent a car - we wanted to experience relaxation to the fullest and the loungers by the pool were it - the pool also has two seats built in that face the ocean - really a great way to cool off! There is a washroom facility half way from the main building to the pool and Palapa area that is a must see ( who would have thought?! ) yet the inside is magical - from the floor made of coins and the multi coloured bottles in the walls allowing the light to cast colours in - really alot went into the planning of that and it shows! Under the Palapa hut there is 2 adirondack chairs and two hammocks - just around 4 the breeze began to cool and we would be found lounging here). Penny and Don have standup paddle boards and kayaks and bikes for guest use as well! Breakfast... well if you read any reviews the consensus is that it is amazing and that is an understatement - it is spectacular !! We opted for breakfast daily and so glad we did ... breakfast is served at 9 ( we had fruit in our guest house to tie us over till then as we woke early to do yoga by the water). It is all vegan and homemade - right down to the jams and butters... I even said that egg dish was amazing and Penny informed me there were no eggs - of course not... yet had me fooled! Each day was different so it never was boring... however there were usually muffins and to be honest I could never ever be bored of them! Half way through the trip Don, Penny's husband came and you can really see the two of them together and how hard they truly work together making this B&B off the grid. He showed us around the property and told us all the awesome ways it is green - very inspiring. He even invited us out to his favourite fish place for dinner ( so grateful for the little extras because we didn't rent a car ) Pisces - try it out!! We met their soon to be neighbours and area also thankful for our time spent joining them for dinner - we felt a part of a community, a part of something bigger - we usually leave our toiletries and yet being here made us conscious that we have recycling at home so took our empties and made sure we were able to leave as small of a footprint as possible! Serenity Sands is the best choice for stay in Corozal Belize and we would stay there again if we return - thank you for a week of pure relaxation !

Beautiful place at the end of the road, 4.5 miles north of Corozal Town. You will be surprised after the nasty road out of Corozal that this place even exists. You will have splendid room [on the 2nd floor, so there will be steps] and a comfy bed. Here is the kicker, its off the grid and you only have AC for 2 hours a day. Also means there is no ice. The walk to the pool and the micro beach is thru a pretty grove which will soon be sporting orchids. Breakfast is Vegan and organic and delicious but no bacon Bubba. Corozal was a big let down, its a locked up, razor wire, security door, bars on the windows, 3rd world town without much to recomend it, right down to no beaches.
