We had 3 nights booked at Midas and wished we had stayed longer. Right from the check in process we were impressed with everything about this hotel. Marlon was very professional and kind and we felt like we were meeting an old friend. He took...More
Spent four nights in 3 bedroom apt above kitchen with two other couples. Spacious with more than adequate kitchen area. Balcony/deck off just one of 3 bedroom so a bit hard to share. Concierge Marlin and owner Ellen were always available, very friendly and helpful....More
The location cannot be beat - this property is located right on the beach. We stayed in the Dreamsicle house, which was just steps from the water. There was also a beautiful pool (with a good number of chairs for the number of guests) and...More
We stayed in the first floor of the Dreamsicle, which is managed by the Maya Beach Hotel. It was comfortable and clean. Just steps to the water’s edge! We had the choice of the pool that is right there at the Dreamsicle, or using the...More

There is a small shuttle airport on Placencia, that you can fly into and out of to BZE. I can't tell you about rental cars but if you are staying on the peninsula I would recommend a golf cart (yes, they are allowed on the road but be back before dark because there are no street lights and it is very dark). Consider hiring a car and driver if you want to travel around for a day or two or take a tour to the various sights. We stayed in the Flip Flop Palace at the Maya Beach Hotel (they can help with transportation to/from the airport). Maya Beach hotel is NOT a big, glitzy hotel but small, very nice and quiet (read the reviews). We stayed there for 10 days. The restaurant is the best in the area and is a short beach walk. There are 4 rooms in the Flip Flop Palace, 2 upper and 2 lower. We stayed in #2 upper, if you want to be on the beach take a lower. There is a scuba shop in town that has very nice scuba/snorkle trips (you can swim with nurse shark).

We used Splash DIve Center and every detail was perfect! Patty and her staff have several boats and customized the dive for us. My husband and I love to hunt Lionfish so we had our own divemaster and they took us to sites where we were able to remove over 30 Lionfish on 2 dives. The lunch on the island was excellent and the Divemasters filleted the Lionfish for us and The Bistro at Maya Beach prepared them for Dinner. My husband and I are both Dive Instructors and have worked in the industry for more than 10 years, so we are pretty critical and safety conscious and Splash was really outstanding. I reviewed them as well here on tripadvisor, January 3,2017.
