Given how busy Xela can feel, it was great to have our room to escape to every night. Violeta was extremely helpful providing us with answers to all if our questions and doing it with very clear, patient Spanish to accommodate us. The upstairs patio is beautiful with a ton of plants, tables, and a lovely view. You really feel...

Well designed, built and maintained B&B where the owners and staff really care about having a beautiful plant-filled environment and providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests. We also appreciated the tastefully decorated art-filled rooms--especially since we had to spend a lot time in them. We both caught colds, so we spent most of our week in Xela depending on the...

My stay here was ok. If your looking for something close to the central park, this is not it. Hence the name, it's located in a small neighborhood named San Bartolome about a 10 minute walk from the Xela center. The price is by person not by space which is slightly offputting. The owner offered a space heater which you...

We stayed at Casa San Bartolome inbetween hiking and exploring the surrounding volcanos with Katchiquel Tours (also excellent). The location is a ten min walk from the centre if Xela (which gives you some quiet), the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The room also had an adjoining private kitchenette. The service was fantastic (they did our laundry at the...

We enjoyed our 3 days in Quetzaltenango, and Casa San Bartolome was charming and relaxing. The staff and owner were friendly and helpful, the garden was peaceful--it just seemed to be a great place to stay for the more urban part of our trip.

My girlfriend and I had spent several nights in Xela and this was my sixth visit to the city in the past two years. I have stayed at two other places near the park and Casa San Bartolome, six or so blocks from the park has been my favorite. The ambiance is peaceful, quiet, and inviting. The plants are beautiful...

We were surprised by how big Xela is - really thought it would be smaller, but it's quite large, spread out, and busy. So retreating every evening to the wonderful courtyard hotel of Casa San Bartolome was a pleasure. Anabella was very helpful before we even arrived. Since we only had one full day to spend here, she pre-arranged a...

Very friendly and helpful staff. The cook is accommodating about the times of meals, and the food is good. A couple of other reviewers here have mentioned the cold. I was there in January, and it was indeed pretty cold a couple of nights. Just before I left, Annabella volunteered the information that they had a portable heater that they...

I had a nice stay at Casa Bartolome. The owner and staff are wonderful and helpful. Breakfast is excellent, especially considering the very reasonable price of the room ($28). My shower was reliably hot. My only complaint is that my room was not heated, and I was there during a couple of particularly chilly nights. The second floor breakfast area...

I stayed at the hotel in January of 2011 for about 2 nights (trip advisor wouldn't let me go back that far). This was my first solo trip ever and my first time outside of the US (and yes even on an airplane!). I arrived in the evening and one of the owners, the husband, showed me to my room...

“If you prefer a quieter room, I suggest staying on the main floor. The dining area/terrace is on the second floor, so if you stay up there you'll hear people who are there to eat, etc.”
