This small botique resort is the perfect stay for anyone looking to be away from the hussle and bussle of West Roatan. The property is gorgeous with lush gardens and the best beach in Camp Bay. We loved our Sunrise room with a huge patio overloong the beach, tons of screened windows and ample breezes you did not need AC, and slept so well with the sounds of lapping waves feet away. This is a kite boarding dream location and we met people from around the world during our stay. The staff, especially Nessa and Jill are so friendly and fantastic. Chris the owner is super responsive to any request. Food and coctails at the onsite restaurant were great and Rachel makes the best hot sauce. You are able to book snorkel, diving, and kitboard tours right from the resort. We had dreamed of staying here since our first visit to Camp Bay and it did not disappoint.

Camp bay lodge is a hidden gem. A Beautifully renovated lodge on a remote beach , a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the West End. The rooms are tastefully decorated and well appointed. The restaurant serves simple food in a relaxed setting. The bar is well stocked with good cocktails. The beach boasts white sand and crystal clear waters with a variety of inviting seating options (loungers, hammocks, beach chairs). The staff are wonderfully accommodating and provide top notch service, they even did a bit of laundry for us free of charge, which we would have gladly paid for ❤️ Overall, a heavenly stay!

A couple of remarks:

1) dinner needs to be preordered by 5ish, which can feel a bit restrictive because you don’t know when you’ll be hungry or what you might be in the mood for but that’s the price you pay for a remote location and boutique experience!

2) the menu options do get a bit repetitive if you are staying for a while and don’t have a means to drive to go elsewhere…but most of the food was pretty good.

3) if you are not American remember you’ll need to factor in tax and tipping to your bill- it’s like that everywhere on the island but if you not use to it (like us Brits) it might come as a surprise!

Thanks again, especially to the lovely staff!

Love love love Camp Bay Lodge! Good communication leading up to our family trip of 11. The rooms are very well done, Chris the owner, and all staff are very helpful and genuinely friendly and professional. Food was excellent made on site by a local chef. The beach is just beautiful one of the few on the island that has seagrape trees that provide shade. We love the north end of the island and the road towards that end was being paved which makes it much easier. Watching the world class kiteboarders was such a treat, which were right at the beach.

The Lodge is definitely on my top five of all time favorite places in the world. We spent a week here (our second visit), dove with Dive Pangea and spent lazy days between on the beach or waiting out the occasional shower in our room. Delicious breakfast by Rachel, super management by Marilu and responsible ownership by Phil all make this place so very special. Fingers crossed that development of nearby properties are handled as wisely!
This is a special community and the owners and managers of both Camp Bay Lodge and Dive Pangea are investing their time, energy and money in training, education and development to strengthen the local economy and the people here.
Our details:
We stayed in the Almond Studio for a little extra space and the kitchenette. Great option for a couple or solo traveler. No AC which might be an issue in warmer months. The screened louvers on the west facing doors and south facing windows open entirely for good ventilation. Great “private” stairway to a good sized deck with bench seating and a hammock. The kitchen is minimally equipped with a few pots and pans, plates & silverware(no coffee maker! Tragic) but also a good sized fridge with a little freezer space, big sink, water dispenser and two burner hot plate. Buy staples like oil and basic seasonings if you are on an extended stay and plan to cook. And maybe an espresso pot or travel press if you need extra coffee (coffee at the included breakfast is bottomless - and strong!) and cups suitable for beach drinks if you are so inclined. The restaurant serves a bit of a limited menu (good selection for a week, would be repetitive for an extended stay) for lunch and dinner and decently priced drinks from the full bar. Kite surfing is a big deal here. Watching kite surfing is about my speed, but from what I’ve seen, the teaching staff would be happy to help anyone catch some air!

We are still on the island and dealing with border issues on the part of both Honduran and US governments and commercial flights. Everyone here has been accommodating and helpful in the midst of their own worries. I wish everyone safe travels, good health at home and that we can all make our way through this with as much grace as we’ve seen here.

Camp Bay is a beautiful hidden gem. Its tucked away far from the hussle and bussle of the west end. If you are looking to disconnect and enjoy some quiet, it is very much worth the drive.

The Lodge was clean and simply but nicely decorated. The rooms have fans and louvered windows so you can take advantage of that nice wind coming off the ocean in the evenings.

The restaurant and bar have so much to enjoy. My partner and I are vegan and had no trouble. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options and they will make a vegan breakfast as part of your stay each day. The food and drinks are priced fairly. Drinks are delicious and strong! ;)

All the staff are amazing and so kind. My partner and I were genuinely sad to leave.

I highly recommend getting a boat tour over to Port Royal through the mangrove forest. There are some really great snorkle spots there. If you like hiking, ask for a guided tour up the ridge from Larry. You will see an incredible view from the top of the entire island and Larry will treat you with stories and history the whole way along.

The rooms are very clean, very well thought of. We were in the Sunset cabana for a week. The kitchenette is efficient, with full size fridge, a blender, a panini gril and a drip coffee-maker. The staff is easy to find, amazing attitude, always ready to help with a smile. Beds are confortable. Hot water for the shower. Rooms are well lit and aerated, we did not need to use the AC.

The included breakfast is generous, lots of fruits with unlimited drip coffee or tea with cows and almond milk. Vegans, vegetarians and omnivorous are well taken of. Vegans, please make sure to tell the chef when you arrive and possibly when making the reservation.

There is no gym with equipments but a nice outdoor covered yoga platform above the restaurant.

Sea kayaks are available to use with enough safety vests. We did not do kite surfing but our friends did and the school is quite responsible with all the safety and security. (someone in a motor boat around). Great reefs with tons of fish within 10 minutes paddling for snorkelling.

At night, most people congregate in the outdoor seated restaurant although we did cook for ourselves 4 out of 7 nights. The restaurant closes at 21h00 and everything is quiet after that.

The one thing that, in retrospect, we should have brought is our portable espresso machine (Wacaco.com).

The beach is amazing, the wharf within 1 minutes walk from the restaurant! With lounge chairs and hammocks between trees. Nice sandy beach that's great for swimming.

Security guards overnight add to the extra safe environment of this resort.

There are sandflies at dusk and dawn, a fair few of them to be honest but that's expected in the Caribeans. Make sure you buy coco oil at the supermarket Eldon's on your way and bring some lavender oil to mix it in. I did not see any citronella candles in any of the little stores. That's another thing to bring from home if you think you need it.

We already recommended this place to several of our friends.

Thank you so much for the review and the valuable suggestions for our future guests (and for us as well). I think we should be able to add some espresso machines for folks that want to make their own espresso. Sandflies can be a nuisance but with our steady breeze on the east end, they are usually better than other areas of the island. You are spot on with the coconut oil. We usually have some for sale in the office or at the restaurant. Happy you enjoyed your visit and hope you get a chance to return soon.

This was my husband and Is first time in roatan and we LOVED camp bay lodge. We texted with Chris before our arrival and he gave great suggestions and he set up a ride for us from the airport.

We arrived to the airport and Wilfredo was there holding a sign with our names! He also stopped at the fully stocked grocery store and we got some essentials. It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the lodge and it’s very remote.

When we arrived to the lodge Jill greeted us and told us everything we needed to know. We were staying the first week of November and there ended up being a storm the entire time we were there which made us not be able to do much but the staff were kind and made us so much delicious food and drinks

The Camp Bay Lodge on the east end of Roatan was the perfect getaway for our group who was looking for a mix of R&R, a beautiful beach to walk, swimming off the dock, snorkeling and diving a relatively untouched reef. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, well maintained, and had ample space for all our gear. The owner and staff were very accommodating and checked in on us periodically to ensure we had everything we needed. Each morning we woke up to hot coffee and breakfast, and had lunch and dinner mostly at the resort. The food and drinks were exceptional and like all other aspects of the resort, exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort to anyone looking to unplug.

I spent one day at Camp Bay Lodge, it is a georgeus place, the beach is amazing and the room was nice and comfortable, although i did not like the staff. The room was supose yo be 130 euros/night breakfast included, we ended up paying about 200 because of the taxes (18%+4%+something else) that they did not explain.
We were driving to the airport at 6:30 in the mornibg and we asked for an early breakfast, they said it was not possible. We asked if they colud leave any sandwitch or anything, they said no. I asked a discount since the breakfast was included, they said no.
I think the place is beautiful but you pay to much, they are so rude. I would not come Back

Response from Camp Bay Lodge, Owner at Camp Bay Lodge
Responded May 30, 2021
Hi Monica. I am so sorry that you and your friend were not satisfied with your stay at The Lodge. Surprisingly all our reviews have been mostly 5 stars and only a couple of 4 stars. So I am very concerned that you were not satisfied. Our guests always complement the staff using terms like 'friendly', 'helpful' or 'feels like family'. I am not sure what happened in your case but I will definitely investigate with staff. I do not believe any resorts on the island offer breakfast starting at 6:00 AM. With that said, your request to the evening staff for something pre-prepared was very reasonable. I will investigate why that was not possible and make sure that staff know that they should comply in the future with a reasonable request such as yours. With respect to the taxes, we comply with Honduran law and collect a tax of 19% on the room charge, 15% on the food consumed in the restaurant and 18% on alcohol consumed. It is our policy at The Lodge to add a service charge on consumption of food and alcohol at the restaurant. I believe this is customary at other resorts on the island and also in most other parts of the world that I have traveled. If you would like for me to refund that service charge, I would be happy to do that but looking back at your receipt at the restaurant, I do not see that a service charge was added. Please let me know if I am incorrect. In the end, I am very concerned that you were not happy with your stay. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, welcoming place for all our guests. Should you consider returning to The Lodge, we would love the opportunity to make sure that your experience The Lodge that our other guests experience.

Camp bay lodge is the perfect place to spend a peaceful and private trip in the east end of roatan. It is located on one of the most beautiful, pristine, virgin and calm beaches of roatan where you can enjoy the whole beach without a crowd. Plenty of activities like kite surfing depending on the weather, kayak, snorkeling, scuba diving and trips around the east end of the beach.

The lodge has an outstanding vibe with their hosts marylu and chris who make your stay very familiar and cozy. The rooms are located right on the beach and you only need to take 10 steps to be in the water. Great food, clean and nicely designed spaces to enjoy a real relaxed beach vacation! Fully recommended!
