Good hotel if you're wanting to be close to the airport which is only $13 by cab and a 15 min drive. Easy to find and there is also secure parking and good restaurant attached. Rooms are big and hotel is reasonably modern with an outdoor pool. Basic but adequate buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. Cost is very expensive for Honduras but there are not many hotels close to the airport.

We would definitely stay here again without a doubt when needing a place near the airport. It was affordable at around $64USD and had everything we needed. Rooms, while small were very comfortable, clean and had a large desk, plenty of outlets, hot hot showers and wifi routers on each floor. Free continental breakfast in the morning and a comfortable seating area. Front desk was great, and had the airport taxi ready at the proper time. Was $13 for the taxi.

This hotel is right down the way from the airport. It really was easy to get to from the airport. The staff worked so hard to help us organize dinner. The staff is very friendly. Clean hotel that felt great to come back to after a busy day. The breakfast was yummy too. I would stay here again for sure.

I wanted to let people know how unhappy and disgusted I was with the treatment myself and my husband received at Mictotel now called Metrotel Express, San Pedro Sula.
I had email communication with the manger and booked a room with him gave my credit card details in an email non secured(I know that was stupid, that that was the only way they would do it.)
I phoned the hotel to try and give it to them but they the only way was by email.they said.
I got 2 emails with reservation number and saying that my room was 'guaranteed'
I told them that I was taking the late Taca flight and would not be arriving until after 2 am at least.
They said they would arrange a taxi to pick us up at our expense of course.
Well thats not what happened.

Our Taca flight which arrived on time at 1.35 am and then after we cleared Immigration it was approximately 2am.

We had no bags to collect as they were on route to La Ceiba.
We were expecting a taxi to be waiting for us which it was not so we waited around, no one there to pick us up, so we would get our own taxi to the hotel.

When we arrived we were informed that our 'guaranteed room' was given away to some one else and also we were told that the taxi man waited until the last person had left the airpot and we were not there and he went home .That was totally untrue as when we left the there was still a queue behind us.

So we had taken 6 flights(another long story!) and we up for 40 hours and were told that our room was given away?

We have travelled all over the world and have never been treated like that.
We had to get another taxi at our own expense to another hotel.

If we were not to turn up for that night they were perfectly within their rights to charge our credit card and they would not have lost out , so why was our room given away?

This is the worst hotel experience that I have ever had, its totally unforgivable to do that to someone who has arrived off a flight in the middle of the night who had been told that their 'guaranteed.' room was given away.
You might say well it is Honduras, it is third world but our room(didn't turn out to be ours!) was $80+ that certainly not "cheap, cheap".
Maybe thats the way things are done around here????

I hope that this review will save someone from going through the same thing, things might be different if you arrived during the day but the hotel needs to reconsider their policy's. Hope to save someone from the same nightmare.

Oh, and the hotel we ended up staying at says that that happens all the time at Metrotel, they get a lot of late night stranded people at they place we ended up in.

We're Canadians living in Copan Ruinas and were on the lookout for an affordable hotel close to the airport in San Pedro Sula to overnight in whenever we're travelling. Metrotel is a 15-minute cab ride from the San Pedro bus station and 15 minutes from the airport, and is a clean, comfortable, Western-style hotel with a nice pool open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and a restaurant next door where you can get a good hamburger and a cold beer.
San Pedro's got a bad reputation, but the hotel is far from the action and has a gated entrance with an armed guard. There's a pleasant garden for wandering in, a small playground, air conditioning, hot water, lots of TV channels and free wifi. Rooms are compact but comfortable for short stays. We'll definitely be making this our San Pedro stopover any time we're flying somewhere.
At $73 a night it's probably a bit pricey by Honduran standards but sometimes it's nice to have a dependable place to stay, not to mention one with a good on-line booking system with a quick response time. We'll be recommending the hotel to any friends and family who come to visit us in Copan and need a place to overnight before the next leg of the journey. .
Metrotel staff told us when we made our reservation that the cab ride from the bus station would cost us $12, but in fact it cost us $7.50 - 150 lempiras.

We had heard good things about this hotel and needed to fly out of San Pedro Sula airport early the next morning, so we booked a room with two queen sized beds for me, my wife, and two children. But when we arrived they said they didn't have a room like that for us. So they put us in a different room with one big bed and then had to bring in two cots, which barely fit. When we went to take a shower there was no hot water! A man came in to see what was wrong, but wasn't able to fix it. We told him we really wanted a room with hot water, but they didn't get us a new room. I complained at the front desk and they offered us a slight discount on the room - $10 I think - but we would have much preferred hot water. We didn't stay there long - we arrived in the evening and left at 5 AM the next morning - so we weren't able to check out some of the amenities there, such as an attractive outdoor pool and playground equipment. The front desk was helpful in waking us up early in the morning and calling us a cab. But overall our experience there was disappointing. Incidentally, even though this is, from what we have been told, the closest hotel to the airport, the cab ride to the airport was still expensive by Honduran standards: 200 lempiras, or about $10.

Did lots of research to find this hotel close to airport for overnight layover in SPS (1 am Spirit arrival, 8:50 am departure to Roatan). Clean, secure, property with traditional breakfast. Nicely landscaped. Room was dated but clean. Would definitely stay here again for a layover. Our room was dated, but clean. We were only there 5 hours so it didn't matter. No complaints -- good value. Drive to airport is about 10 mins, depending on traffic.

We used Metrotel for our evening arrival and early morning departure. Let them know when you're flight arrives and they will have a taxi driver there to greet you and take you to the hotel for $15. FYI be sure to use the 24 hr. clock time. Our friends who we were meeting there arrived at 1 pm and there was no driver to greet them. The hotel thought they were arriving at 1 am. Our driver (Marco) had no problem when we asked if he could stop by a store on the way so we could pick up a few cold beers for our room. Rooms have no refrigerator but there is a ice bucket and machine. Check in was easy. We had room 217 ( very noisy airconditioner), 2 queen beds, TV, blow dryer, shampoo etc. There is no elevator, but they have someone there to take your luggage up to your room. There is a computer room, with several computers, and a breakfast area which starts serving as early as 4am. which is included with your stay. On our departure, we had room 214 and the AC was much quietier:) There is a Mega Super Macado just a block from the hotel. Just go right out of the hotel parking lot and it's on the same side of the road. It's huge and you can get anything you may want or need there. They have a stand in the middle of the store where they make fresh tortillas (both white and wheat) and beef or chicken balaedas. Wish we had bought more than 1 each as they were super yummy and cheap! We bought beers, and baleadas and headed back to enjoy them by the pool. The front desk even packed our beers in an ice chest and brought them out to the pool for usto enjoy:) Pool was clean, and they had a big play ground area for kids. They have a very pretty garden area also. Their restaurant (Larsons) which we did not eat at as we had already eaten on our arrival, and is closed on Mondays. Our friends who arrived earlier in the day on our arrival, ate there and said it was OK but expensive. Being it was a Monday and they were closed on our departure, the front desk gave us a huge list and menu of restaurants in the area that deliever. The 4 of us ordered 1 order of mixed fried rice with shrimp and 1 order of shrimp Chop Suey and there was enough to feed an army. They even delievered cold beers:) Our wake up call, and taxi were right on time in the morning. This is not a luxury hotel, ( Best Western type) but it's clean, great service, and english speaking. I would definantly return:)

Love this place and upon arrival to Honduras or spending a few days to rest before leaving to return to Canada, I always feel comfortable and right at home. The staff really makes the place and go out of their way to accommodate their guests. As a woman travelling alone, I love the security and respect that is given. It's not a five star as some updating could be considered, but for the price and the place, it's great!

You probably can make it at night time because it's a short ride but it's the Honduran roads I don't trust at all. I would book a hotel taxi between 5 and 6am when daylight is about to come. I am sure the hotel has reliable and trusting taxi drivers. Consider all circumstances: if the taxi breaks down, you definitely don't want to be at dark stuck in the road. Another option is what they call "colectivos", a shared ride that starts around 5am from the hotel. They charge less and it's safer because you will not be alone. The hotel is in the main road so, they can take you there.
