Stopped in with a friend to tour the old jail. Fascinating with the old cells and the padded room still intact (even if kinda gross). Really cool place to visit. The new owners Dan & Michelle are really nice and welcoming. Didn't stay over just toured the location.

Staying at the Great Escape Slammer bed and breakfast is just like staying at home! Very comfortable and accommodating, the Mellgrens are very gracious and accommodating to your needs. This is the best place to stay in Aledo when looking for a good night sleep and yummy breakfast!

Loved the idea of telling people I spent the night in the "slammer". The hosts, Dick and Jennie, were the real highlight of this stay. They were welcoming and gracious and full of stories. The converted jail is lovely and the rooms comfortable and charming. We walked the streets of this beautiful little town and enjoyed the wide tree lined...

We loved our stay. The room was lovely. The bed in the railroad room was very comfortable. The quilt was very beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the old jail. We have some great pictures. We enjoyed going into the padded cell an seeing how an old time jail used to be. We had a nice breakfast of coffee, juice, cinnamon rolls,...

Jennie Maynard is your perfect hostess for this B&B. She and husband, Dick, turned this county jail into a B&B and left the jail section in tact with cells, padded cell, excecution room, etc. to check out. If you want, you can take your morning breakfast and coffee into one of the cells to sit and eat. There are 9...

Marvelous B & B, Great fun, beautiful rooms, within walking distance of restaurants. An authentic small town jail/sheriff's office, beautiful historic decor. Can't wait to go back to this lovely historic place and its wonderful hostess.

This is not a modern hotel with modern amenities, but a renovation of the county jail (guests can take breakfast to a jail-cell to eat...fun for kids); the owners have seen the charm and value of the oak woodwork and transoms over the doors, and not eliminated the features and friendliness of an earlier time. Little things make staying here...

100 years ago, people knew how to build a buildling (especially when it was a courthouse/jail!). The hardwood is beautiful. Lots of fun to stay here and very quiet & comfortable. There are no private bathrooms, but there are plenty of bathrooms to go around, so we've never had to wait for one. We don't always stick around for breakfast,...
