We initially booked three nights not knowing how long we would be staying in Fes. Within <24 hrs it became clear that this was the place to be in and booked additional nights. Very friendly staff, always quick to respond, always willing to go the extra step to make things more comfortable. The room on the 2nd floor overlooking the medina was enchanting (spacious, extremely clean, calming and fully stocked). The scent of "fleur d'oranger" and "roses" in and around the Riad was comforting compare to the smells of the city. The "cooking class" was superb. They took us to the market were they paid for several ingredients (meats/fish/vegetables/spices/condiments) which we later cooked in the Riad's kitchen. The chefs were top notch and all the food was prepared in a very clean environment. Attached are some pictures of the cooking class

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! We felt so welcomed by our host I could have lived their for a month. We arrived after 6pm and had to jump right to our tour, and they prepared dinner for us and had it ready when we got back. It was delicious! On top of that, they had the masseuses stay to provide us the most incredible full body massage at 9:30pm! When I say this was an exceptional stay, it was!

The room was like a magical fairytale, we felt like princesses. It was so clean, robes and all the necessities provided. The bed was so comfortable and so were the pillows!

We had to leave early in the morning to start our desert trek and they sent us with breakfast to go. Truly the most wonderful hosts, and very safe might I add. Welcomed at the door by a bellhop who was so sweet and carried our suitcases to our room and prepared us tea upon arrival. We were provided a history of the Riad and some tips on touring in Morocco to keep safe. I’d come back just to stay here again.

This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed! The room is beautifully decorated, spacious, and very comfortable, the service is impeccable (everyone is so friendly and helpful, especially Anna), and the breakfast on the terrace is delicious with really good coffee! There is good hot water pressure in the shower, a mini bar in your room, strong WIFI on every floor, and you can buy local wines and beer here to drink on the rooftop with a view that you can’t beat. It’s located at a great place in the Médina because it’s close to the entrance, easy to find, and near lots of food options. We also booked a hammam here and loved it. We can’t recommend this Riad highly enough. It is one of a kind and you’ll never want to leave!

I would highly recommend staying at Fes Maya. The location is excellent; right outside the Medina with a parking lot about a 3 minute walk away. It’s a well lit area so you feel safe, and it’s less than a minute walk away from the Medina.

The service is amazing. The hostess, Anna, is always available...not sure if she ever sleeps lol. She was very courteous and accommodating. She helped us take care of everything we needed. Hamid, one of the helpers, was also amazing and helpful.

The Riad itself is gorgeous; you’ll feel like you are staying in a historical site. The ceilings and decoration create a very scenic and comfortable environment.

We stayed in the Ambassador Suite and could not believe how much space we had. It was such a nice room with every amenity you could think of. It was two of us and a baby, and that room was more than suffice.

Riad Fes Maya is not the cheapest Riad in the area, but because of the great location, service, and accommodation, I believe it is well worth the extra money. I would highly recommend staying at Riad Fes Maya; you will not be disappointed.

We stayed in Riad Fes Maya from Dec 23-25 and it was AMAZING. We had an ambassador level room and it was spacious and gorgeous. We were greeted by the concierge (I'm sorry, I forget her name!) with tea and Moroccan pastries. During the registration process our bags were taken up to our room. The concierge lady was super accommodating, and went above and beyond on her leaving morning with a breakfast to go and support for getting our bags to the car at the ungodly hour of 7 am. Breakfast in the riad is fantastic and held on the roof top terrace. We also did the hammam (a first for us!) It was wonderfully relaxing - just be aware, you're naked, except for underwear, and the hammam lady will be scrubbing and buffing you with traditional clays and scrubs. It was great, but definitely outside my comfort zone! We spent a couple great days touring through the souks and enjoying this ancient city! My partner is Moroccan, so I had a leg up, language wise. I highly recommend getting an authorised guide if you're new to the city :)

I stayed in several properties while visiting morocco for a few days this past week. The Riad Maya was the top hotel that I stayed in. The service was excellent, the location was central, and the room was immaculate. It was not hard to find as we walked to a couple of other Riads that were harder to get to without a local “guide”. Ana was truly an exceptional hostess. She accommodated all our needs and our last minute changes with grace and always went beyond our expectations. The room itself was absolutely gorgeous. While in Morocco for a week and a half, I stayed in a resort, high end hotel and another Riad. The Riad Maya comparatively was truly exceptional. Homemade authentic food catered to your dietary restrictions is hard to beat. With beautiful views from an elegant, glass parlor to dine in, this place makes your stay unique and most of all relaxing. I will definitely being staying here again.

Other things to note: If you want spa services message the hotel before your stay to book appointments. You can always do it while you are there but it helps to know what availability they have if you have a tight schedule like I did. It’s about 100 dirham from the train station if you take a cab. The cab drivers charge an extra 50 if you are driving around at night. The Riad is not hard to get to once you are dropped off on the street.

The place has WiFi so if you need to make calls on your cell over the internet you can do that. We charged our phones using the USB connection on the TV.

We would absolutely stay here again if we come back to Fes.

We stayed four nights in Riad Fes Maya and enjoyed them all. It’s a beautifully restored building with period furniture and a staff who all worked hard to ensure a happy stay for us.

The hotel is walking distance from the Médina, and up to a 30-40 minute walk from some of the popular attractions and restaurants. However, this was no problem since the hotel staff were always willing to help with getting a taxi (10-20 MAD). The staff also helpfully provided us with the address in Arabic to making getting a taxi back easier when we needed to.

The suites are something special - we stayed an extra night, extending our original booking, so we actually got to check out two different rooms. Super clean, nice bathrooms, and some exceptionally cool antique furniture, with some reproductions nicely complementing them.

We enjoyed the morning breakfast. This was very nice local fare though, plus eggs were always offered too, which was an added bonus.

Our experience differed happily from another reviewer, who felt some pressure to sign up for tours etc. We got one offer at check in, said we had made other arrangements, and that was it. No pressure, no problem.

I would be glad to stay here again, and wish the staff and the hotel the very best.

We stayed 3 wonderful nights at the Riad Fes Maya Suite and Spa and absolutely loved our experience there. It is no surprise that Riad Fes Maya ranks as the top place to stay in Fes. Walking through the door, we were amazed by the beauty and grandeur of the courtyard. As it turns out, the 9 spacious rooms all look to this stunning courtyard. The dining room is on the terrace with a charmingly decorated interior and the outdoor dining looks out to the lovely hills of Fes. When Anna escorted us to our room, we could not believe the size and beauty of the suite. We had an upstairs bathroom and changing room! Each morning we were served an enormous spread of breads, pancakes, eggs, pastries and the best tasting orange juice I've ever had. Of course that was in addition to the coffee and tea made available throughout the day. The dinners were outstanding, with another huge spread - this time with perfectly seasoned vegetables - and a lamb and chicken over couscous with a taste to die for. All of this was courtesy of Mama Fatima, the owner's mother who really knows how to cook. But that wasn't even the best part of the accommodation. We received top notch service from Latifa and Mr. Hamid and especially Anna, the young lady who runs the show. I don't believe she ever sleeps as she was always available for any need or desire. This was especially true when we learned we needed a negative Covid test to fly home to the US. She made numerous calls and secured an appointment for our test the next morning. We are forever grateful to Anna for her effort and hospitality. Anyone who gets the pleasure of staying at Riad Fes Maya will know of what I speak. Thank you for everything and we hope to return again soon.

We had a fabulous time at Riad Fes Maya. When we first arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful interior and the hospitality of our hostess, Ana. After showing us our room (also beautiful and spacious) and giving us mint tea, we were provided a free guided tour of the Fes Medina with Suleiman, who claims to be a professor at Fes University.

The tour, honestly speaking, was probably a scam. Just like countless other tourists arriving at all times of the year, we were told that it’s the last day of a handicraft festival (that none of the other locals nor tour guides know about), and so everything is 50% off. After a brief tour of a few local locations (bread shop, preschool, etc), we were taken to the standard set of tourist shops — carpets, leather, dress shop — where the items are about 5x higher than the prices quoted anywhere else in the city and 10x higher than the prices outside the city. Particularly egregiously, we were told a story that the carpets were woven by the widows of Fes, and the money supports them. They offered to let us see these widows at work. However, when we later called them on their offer, there was not a single woman. In fact, there was only a single loom, and judging by its dusty state, probably unused for a while. Also, quite amusingly, we were told that we can buy carpets there, ship them to the US, and sell them for enough profit to pay for our trip. Fortunately, we weren’t naive enough to believe that they wouldn’t take advantage of such an opportunity themselves if it were true. After visiting these shops, we were told that we’ve basically seen all of Fes, despite not having been to the Madrassa or a single tourist attraction. However, despite the tour being a scam, we enjoyed walking through the city with a guide and taking in all the sensations of Fes. Moreover, since we had already booked a real guided tour of the city for the second day, we did not miss out on anything. I do think it disingenuous to call this a guided tour of the city as opposed to a pure shopping tour, because it might tempt people to cancel their pre booked tours that actually allow them to see the entire city.

Overall, I would say that the standout characteristic of Riad is the service they provide. Besides the guided tour, the only detraction of the hotel is that the room is a little loud (little sound insulation from the rest of the hotel). The food served (prepared by Mama Fatima) is excellent if a bit pricey. We would recommend this hotel to other tourists, provided they are aware that guided tours provided by the hotel are not necessarily what they seem.

This riad is so beautiful and the details to the decor were gorgeous. The staff was very welcoming, and eager to help us in any way they could. We spent 2 nights here in December, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and pretty, would have loved to stay for more days. The breakfast spread was very generous and tasty-absolutely enjoyed eating our meals(2 breakfast and 1 dinner) in their terrace restaurant. It was a perfect stay-highly recommend it.
