We just came back from visiting Morocco and stayed at Riad Shambala for 6 nights. We had such a wonderful time we did not want to leave. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The beds are so comfortable and I usually cannot get a good rest while I'm on vacation because the bed isn't familiar to me. Lets just say... More

We spent 5 nights at Riad Shambala, which was chosen, by reading the Trip Advisor reviews, by our youngest daughter. And what a good choice she made! We travelled in familly with our two teenage daughters. It's a quite small Riad (with 5 rooms) in the north of the Medina, close to the Baba Yacout Gate. In the first day... More

My friend and I had a great experience staying here earlier this week - the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, the roof terrace is fantastic for relaxing throughout the day and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Riad is situated in the heart of the medina, full of life and bustle, and yet also calm and relaxing once... More

My dad and I just returned from a two week trip to Morocco. Our stay at Riad Shambala was nothing short of amazing. Mohammad went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. After learning that our tour agency had booked my dad and I in the smallest room, he upgraded us to a second room! Mohammad took the time... More

My mum and I stayed at Shambala for one night. It's a beautiful and authentic Morrocan accommodation. We were made to feel very welcome. The only problem was it was Ramadam while we were there so it was quieter than usual in Marrakech and the market wasn't as good.

I was in Riad Shambala one week ago and I could enjoy the medina and the real Marrakech in all its wide meaning. A gentle driver came to pick me up to the airport. Marrakech is a beautiful bereber city that brings the air of the dessert. When I came to Shambala, Lobna brought me some delicious, scrumpious, I don´t... More

I say heart because its both a metaphorical and physical association. Its in the heart of the old city - you can walk everywhere and work off the lovely breakfast of cooked eggs, the best natural yogurt I have tasted, and various breads and Marrakech 'doughnuts' for a special treat. The Riad is very authentic and the terraces on the... More

This is a very small riad (5 rooms) close to the northeastern wall (Bab Yacout gate) of the Marrakech Medina, so the walk to the great square is a bit longer than average, about 20 minutes. The riad is a very cozy, clean and nicely decorated haven, with a small dipping pool in the atrium/lobby area and two small roof... More

This was our first stay in Morocco and it was a pleasant start. Mohammed is a very good host and he can read your thoughts! I felt very cold the first evening and before we had done anything did Mohammed supply us with a heater. A very thoughtful person. We had booked the smallest (and cheapest) room and thank God... Having never visited Marrakech before we didn't know what to expect. Prior to our visit we researched for hours and found Riad Shambala had some fantastic reviews. The riad is near the Medina wall but don't let that put you off, we loved the location and was the perfect base to explore the souks, square, medina and new town. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This beautiful RIAD is located within the walls of Marrakech Medina or, as it is also known, the ancient part of the city.Inaugurated in September 2011, the hotel represents the realisation of Carlos, its owner´s, dream."Carlos' Dream" as it is known (which is inscripited in Arabic on the door of the Riad) brings to life his artistic interpretation and vision of a traditional Moroccan Riad.Every single detail, from the construction, the location, style & furnishings of the Riad are recreated in the classical & traditional manner which is typically Moroccan and one that the locals would recognise and admire as a typical Moroccan RiadThis vision enables the guests to engage themselves and appreciate the beauty and passion of this beautiful city with surroundings that bring to life of an era long forgotten but brought to life by the traditional settings of the Riad.During the Riad's construction only traditional Moroccan materials were used, such as Tadelakt plaster (concrete hand polished stone), Bejmat (baked clay), all of which was hand produced individually using traditional tools producing a complete piece of artisan work.Relax and enjoy drinking cocktail's or mint tea in its lounges or by the swimming-pool; far away from the hustle and bustle of the streets in the heart of Marrakech Medina, with the backdrop of the magnificient snowed Atlas mountains, or watch a beautiful sunset over the city at the end of the day, the choice is entirely yours.Do not miss the romantic experience of arriving at night at the Riad and going up to your room with a traditional candle lighting the way, whilst in the morning awake to a wonderful breakfast which can be taken in any of the Riad's charming locations or terraces. If you wish so, book your evening dinner at the Riad, you will certainly not forget the experience of tasting wonderful original Moroccan food on the patio or one of the many terraces, all set in a complete relaxed atmosphere enabling you to forget about the worries of the world. ... more   less
