What a truly lovely place – we all feel very lucky to have stayed there. Well located next to the Bahia Palace and within easy reach of the main square at Djemaa El Fna, the elegant and restful Riad Melhoun feels like the perfect counterpoint to the busy Medina beyond its door. Although it’s a beautiful property, what really made the stay for us is the wonderful staff. Everyone working at the riad made us feel very welcome and were friendly, helpful and kind – they took obvious pride in looking after people (without being obtrusive). We also enjoyed the food made by the riad’s cook, who produced authentic-tasting dishes with real care; there was a different selection each day at breakfast and generous Moroccan dinners on request, which were better than most of the food we ate elsewhere during our stay in Marrakesh. The private, two-person hammam also felt like a real luxury. We all enjoyed being gently washed and scrubbed, returning to our rooms really happy, like contented children after a particularly restful bath. Critically, on top of both looking and feeling like a really lovely space, Riad Melhoun also gets all the essentials right: the beds are comfortable, the bedding soft and the ensuite bathrooms have hot walk-in showers and generous, fluffy towels; the housekeeping service was also excellent. Being able to sit up on the roof was also lovely – the perfect spot for a leisurely breakfast or for some R&R in the afternoon with a book.

My wife and I decided to go on a last minute short break and booked it via Secret Escapes. The booking included the Riad Melhoun and Spa and because the photos look good we pressed the Book button. Cool.

We arrived early in the morning navigating the busy airport and streets. We decided to pre book our taxi via booking.com which was a good move. Worth mentioning that you should bring UK cash to Morocco so you can change it in the many bureau de change scattered around the soukes. Never buy currency to spend at the UK airport!

Onto the main event, the Riad Melhoun. On arriving it was like entering a tranquil oasis magically cut off from the hustle and bustle of the nearby streets. The traditional decor was authentic while feeling homely and welcoming. You really do feel like you can relax anywhere to read in a quiet spot, dip in the plunge pool or just sit in the sun on the terrace.

The spa was excellent and we had the couples Hammam massage which set just the right tone for the rest of our stay. Highly recommended.

Our room was on the top floor - the tent room and we could easily imagine ourselves being away on adventures (which we were) and again we felt it was the perfect balance of tradition and function. A great setting for relaxing at the end of the day.

Finally the staff definitely deserve a special mention. They were all welcoming, attentive and helpful. We brits can be quite demanding, asking for restaurant advice and bookings and help working out how we should "haggle" in the soukes. They took our asks in their stride and always met us with a smile. We honestly felt their pride they had in their Riad which shone through to the excellent service we received every day of our stay.

We recommend Riad Melhoun & Spa! Well done team.

Our review of this beautiful and cosy Riad must start with praises for Jamal. Jamal was the receptionist/host when we arrived; from the start till the end of our stay he made it really special. He was extremely polite and cordial, had helpful suggestions for everything we asked. We had booked Gaya Suite which was the only suite on the ground floor next to the natural pool, which made it feel very private. The Riad is centrally located which means everything is accessible very easily. We booked transfer from Airport, excursion to Ait Ben Haddou and transfer to Essaouria from the hotel - all at a very reasonable prices. Jamal also provided helpful tips regarding shopping and navigating the streets of Marrakech. We took the royal couple spa which was nice. We also had dinner at hotel - they made wonderful tagines and salads - again very very personalised. We also ate at other places but the food made at the hotel felt more authentic and homely, thanks to the chef. Breakfast was delicious and plenty - Jamal also prepared breakfast for us early at 6:30, on the day we had our trip to Ait Ben Haddou. We were also able to check our late, which was very helpful. Overall - very good experience, exemplary service and hospitality - we will definitely come back!

Where do I start. From the moment you walk through the doors of this little haven of tranquility, in the middle of this crazy busy city, you feel the stress lift from your shoulders. The Riad is stunning but the staff are the real treasure at this accommodation. Nothing is too much trouble as they want to make your stay they best experience they can. We stayed a week and they planned our whole stay together with us, asking what/where we wanted to visit and then advising us what was the best day/time to do the trips we wanted. Everyone from the cooks, drivers, cleaners, waiters and especially the manager where so hospitable and just a pleasure to be around. As for its situation, well you are pretty central within the Medina so close to most things. The rooms are spotless and large, the food delicious (they even arranged a cooking afternoon for us). All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful place. Most of all thank you to all the new family of the Riat Melhoun for a fantastic stay 🙏

I spent a long weekend with my girlfriend at the Riad Melhoun and would highly recommend it. The Riad itself is an incredible building (the pictures don't do it justice), and I can't praise all the staff highly enough - they all went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their efforts and attentiveness were greatly appreciated. The Riad serves traditional Morocccan dishes, and we would recommend the chicken tagine on the rooftop. The hammam/massage was well worth it, and the whole experience at the Riad was very relaxing in general. The location was fantastic, being right in the old town, with the markets in easy walking distance, but being set back enough that you're not right in the thick of it. We would definitely go again and thank you to everyone working there!

There are no words to describe the wonder of this Riad: once you enter you are transported to a fairy tale of "The Arabian Nights" 🌙✨ The rooms are spotless, furnished with taste and particular attention to detail. The kindness and sweetness of the staff makes you forget you are away from home, making you feel at home; for my birthday, for example, I was delivered a beautiful bouquet of flowers in my room. I recommend this riad in EVERY way: cleanliness, staff, excellent restaurant, wonderful breakfast! It will be difficult to return to everyday life after an experience like this where you are pampered all the time.
Thank you Riad Melhoun, I will always carry you in my heart.

The Riad is in a great location in the Medina, close to everything but on one of the quieter streets so you don't hear scooters all night. Beautifully renovated building in a traditional style and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent. However, the thing that really makes this Riad stand out are the staff: They were all incredibly kind professional and helpful without being too over the top. They really seem to care that there guests have a good time in Marrakech outside of the hotel and have were helpful in sharing ideas of what to do and as importantly what not to do!

Stayed for 5 nights as a Couple and child at the top floor suite tent room in February 2022 straight after the Covid 19 travel ban was lifted.

The Riad is beautiful, clean and decorated in the traditional Morrocan style. The entire staff team is super friendly, accommodating and provide exceptional service. They truly do put a lot of genuine effort and passion into serving the needs of their customers. The location is also very good right in the middle of old city with walking distances to various soukhs, shopping streets, restaurants, Jama El fanaa square and the Bahia Palace.

The top floor tent room is probably the biggest room in Riad accommodating a king size double bed and a single bed for kids. The room was clean and spacious with a fridge and decent size wardrobe. The tent had a separate area partitioned off by a curtain to accommodate a bath tub and a toilet. The roof top terrace is right out side the room with sun loungers and a good size jacuzzi pool surrounded by various cactus plants. The area is well maintained and creates a relaxing environment right outside the tent suite.

The breakfast is very good and is served on demand in whatever common area of the hotel you choose. The breakfast service is excellent and staff lay on different types of breakfast every day ranging from eggs, various kinds of pancakes, fruits, yogurts, cakes, jams, coffees and teas and off course the fresh Morrocan Orange juice. You can ask for whatever you need and the staff even prepared a special Morrocan egg tagine for breakfast one day when we wanted to try something different. So the breakfast is adequate, good quality and has some thing for every one.

We had dinner at the Riad for our 10th anniversary and were pleasantly surprised. The staff made a lot of effort to prepare for the event and we were consulted on the menu choices and out likes and preferences. We pretty much designed our own menu with starters, salads, tagine of our choice, deserts and the staff executed it really well.

Overall, we were really pleased with our stay at the Riad Melhoun and Spa. The staff went above and beyond to look after us. Thank you.
