how do you know he got a massive commission from the tour?
ive been travelling around and around and around Morocco trying to write info in forums and helping people have a more real, and enjoyable time getting to know Morocco but i would agree it took a bit of learning the ropes as to how to deal with some of the negatives but theres lots of positives
Sounds like you got a few upsetting things happen unfortunately that then set the scene for a a cascade of unhappinesses - sewage smell is quite common in Moroccan hotels and houses - same in other countries too such as Asia so maybe you are not able to cope with anything that less than perfect standard. Id have recommended other hotels - ive never in my 45 visits or so to Morocco been troubled by traffic noise. including one place i stayed at quite often right next to a mosque with call to prayer loudly in the early hours
